Pogo And I Are Enjoying Our Porch

July 8, 2016

Good morning.  Tis a bit gray and damp at the moment, but it feels good.  The weather forecast says that it will be cloudy with bits of rain and temps in the 70's for about four days.  I have to say that is going to feel oh so good.  But of course, after that, the temps will jump back up to the 80's and 90's.  Ah well, it is summer.

Yesterday morning, grandson Kevin and his lovely girl friend came by, and we all (Pogo too) went to visit with Aunt Lucy.  Auntie was thrilled to see the kids, and Pogo was excited for a chance to explore the whole apartment looking for the cat.  The cat was smart though, and stayed up on a bed where Pogo could not see or reach her.

Aunt Lucy loved her new address book, and we had a wonderful time chatting and laughing.  Later, on the way home, we realized that the beach where the kids go is right down the street from Aunt Lucy's house.  Hmmm, I'm getting ideas.  When the kids go to the beach, they could drop me off at Auntie's house, and pick me up when they are ready to go home.  Hmm, I'll keep that in mind.

In the afternoon, Joe helped me set up Pogo's play yard on the porch.  This is only temporary because Pogo can walk right through the railing slats.  Once the screen is all attached, we won't need the play yard.  Then I got the chairs from my car, along with the little table and the plant stand, and set them on the porch.  Pogo and I sat out there for a while, just enjoying the breeze and the birds and small critters.

I set the big pot with the pink petunias on the plant stand.  Oh yeah, this is going to be really nice once it's all finished.  I even have this cute little welcome sign to hang over the steps.

I almost forgot, I had bought a new welcome mat, and set it by the porch door.  Gosh, it really does look nice.  The new plant hangers that I had ordered were delivered, so now I'm just about all ready for when the porch is finished.  I'll have to take photos when everything is done.

My daughter Deanne sent this cartoon to me and I thought I would share it.  Sad to say, age brings some of us these wicked turkey flaps on our arms.  A few years ago, one of my great grandsons thought they were awesome big muscles.  I was not about to tell him otherwise.  This cartoon sort of brought back memories of that day.

Today, Pogo and I will just relax and maybe hang out on our porch for a bit.  Later, I'll take Joe grocery shopping.  Who knows, maybe I'll even do a load of laundry.  I'm feeling rather happy today.  Well, that's it for this morning.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a magnificent weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

What a wonderful look of that porch! Yes, you probably will have to cover all the wood with wood sealer, to preserve the wood.
I hope Joe and perhaps other dwarfs could help with that?
But it looks ever so nice.
Lovely sign you found for the porch and it is nice to do some shopping for it and dreaming about the nearby day you can use all the stuff there, sitting and relaxing with Pogo on that porch.
What a smart girl you are, about the idea of getting to Aunt Lucy, when the kids go to the beach!
Now quickly I am to post on my blog and then I hope to have a nice and relaxed day.
Have a wonderful weekend
Hug

I love the cartoon! I saw it a few days ago too somewhere else. Hee Hee! Love it! My friend in Phoenix was so upset, many businesses not flying their flags half mast! What a disrespectful world we leave in. Also I read some celebrity had to apologize for allowing her dogs to sit on the American flag. What the heck is wrong with these people?!?!? You are a millionaire, buy your dogs a bed or sofa! We don't have a huge flag but I am careful putting it up and taking it down. I would never allow the pets or the kids to lay around on our flag. Utter ignorance!
I do some yoga but I am terrible at it. My friend from Japan told me she was a failure at it. Some of those poses are unbelievable! I do some of the exercise for my low back and shoulders. Aging ain't for sissies! I think Bette Davis said that!
