Are You Kidding Me??

July 13, 2016

Good morning.  It's a bright sunny day, and I do believe it's going to be hot, hot, hot.  Well, guess what?  Yup, yup, yup!!  The porch is finished!  Yeaaaaaaah!!  But I can't use it for a bit.

What?  Are you kidding me?  Groan, groan.  How we all did not notice this, I don't know, but there is a hornet nest in the cornice over the window (on the house inside the screened part of the porch)  Now I don't know about you, but I'm not so happy about sharing my beautiful new porch with hornets!

Last evening after supper, Joe filled the nest with hornet spray.  It killed a few, but there are still a few hornets that won't leave the porch.  We'll probably have to remove the cornice altogether.  I'll see if Joe will do that soon.  Like tonight!!  Oh gosh, I hope so.

Here are some photos of the finished project.  Before leaving, the workers found a good place for my flag, and put it up for me.

They even built a really nice gate that is Pogo proof.  We hope!  Now Pogo can run around the whole porch.  He'll probably want to stay out there all day.  Next, they put in a couple hanger hooks so that I could put up the hanging plants.  One inside the screened area, and one near Pogo's door.

Folks, there's nothing like a little porch, some pretty flowers and a fur baby to chase away any blues that might decide to come your way.  I have waited twenty one years for this porch, and I love it!

Lately, I've been looking around for an old movie that I really enjoyed and would like to watch again.  Last evening, I found it on Amazon, so I ordered it.  It's called Torch Song Trilogy.  So guess what I'll be doing Friday evening?  Yup, you guessed it!   If you like movies with a lot of human emotions and feelings, give this one a try.

Today, I'll be staying off my feet a lot.  My left foot and lower back have been acting up again. Last night, I finally dug out the pain pills so that I could get some sleep.  Pogo woke me up around 4 a.m. with his scratching.  I'm not sure what they used at the salon for shampoo, but he has been itching since he came home with his new hair cut.

So, after brushing him and giving him some Benedryl, I put him in his bathtub (the new bathroom sink) and gave him a bath with his medicated shampoo.  Then we sat on the sofa while I towel dried him.  Of course, that meant we had to play a while too.  It was close to six a.m. before we both nodded off to sleep again.

Needless to say, my eyes are a tad bit droopy this morning.  So I'm going to treat myself to a nice nap in a little while.  Pogo is already sleeping.  Well, that's my news for this morning.  Now I'm going to head over to my comfy lounge chair and let my eyelids droop shut.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Hi Edna,
Such a good thing that I decided not to call you this morning as I was planning on doing just that. Then one of the designers messaged me thru our group chat that she was putting up some new masks for the group and we chatted and I just love the masks. She never asks for us to use all of them but I made 3 pages. I just couldn't resist. I might as well go for the gusto and do the last mask as well. Anyway I was going to call you and then I thought I would read your blog first. Good thing that I did because I sure would hate to call and interrupt yours and Pogo's nap.

So thankful that the porch is done and it is really very very nice except for the hornets. I sure hope that Joe can get the nest out without getting stung. I have been lucky and not gotten stung by hornets but I remember my dad saying once that a Hornet sting is a lot worse than just a bee or wasp or even a yellow jacket sting. He found a nest in a tree of ours when we were kids. After he knocked it down and ran into the house for a while, he went out and took some gasoline and lit it on fire. Funny what spurs on a child hood memory. I love your flag! It is super nice on your new porch.

Cisco and Foxy are getting baths today. Yes I would say that there is something in the shampoo that does not react well with Pogo. I am glad that you both had play time after the bath. Cisco got a scolding from his Mama today. Every time that we go outside to the patio he beats me out the door and puts up such a fuss running around and barking. I realize that it is his way of running off any unwelcome guests but at 5:00 in the morning not everyone wants to hear him barking because he will not stop. So I had to scold him. He is pouting right now. Still hasn't forgiven me yet. I will give him a treat in a little while. That should cheer him up. Foxy will not eat treats. Which is a good thing because I am sure that Cisco does not want to share his lol.

I have a load of dishes done, now just for a quick wipe down the kitchen will be clean. Time to tackle my room and then I am off to color! Have a great day. Much love, Beth and Cisco.

So thankful they finally finished your porch. They did not seem to be in any hurry, but it really looks nice.

The porch looks lovely...I guess you could say it's the "bee's knees" since they have taken over...temporarily.

Congratylations on your now finished proch!!!! It just looks marvellous and how good that the gate there is Pogo proff, so the little guy can enjoy the porch too.
Just the hornet nest isnt the nicest thing to have there. Hope Joe can get rid from them, and he should protect himself well, before doing it!
weather here is slowly trying to get better and it looks as if in the weekend the temps will rise somewhat, can;t wait to feel it happen LOL1
Today will be grocerie shopping day. Better like it to do on Thursday's, a bit less crowd in the supermarket than on Friday's.

Hope you had a nice long nap and that you acking foot and back came to rest too.
Have a wonderful day.
