Do You Think Our Votes Really Count?

March 15, 2016

Good morning.  This morning the temps are in the 40's and it is cloudy and wet outside.  The forecast for today is rain.  There are a lot of buds on green stems in my little gardens, so I'm sure they will welcome a bit of water.

Today I want to talk about the violence that is following the GOP debates and the Trump rallies.  I am so tired of hearing the media place the blame on Trump's followers.  The real blame goes to the news media for the outrageous way they have been trying to shove their opinions down our throats and take away our right to choose a candidate for ourselves.

The rest of the Republican party also shares the blame.  I am ashamed of the way elected government officials have been trying to tell us who we can and cannot vote for.  They want what they want, and they do not want us to have a choice in the selection of eligible candidates.

The news media should be ashamed of the way they have been reporting and misconstruing many events, which has actually encouraged violence.  They are not supposed to be biased, but they are.  They are supposed to report the news, not invent the news and smother us with their biases.  It's time the news media started sticking to reporting what is really being said and done.

Regardless of which candidate you are voting for, you and I are supposed to have the right to be able to listen to the candidates and make our own decisions.  Myself, I would like to see all the name calling and bashing being stopped.  I would like to be able to listen to the different candidates' views on important issues.

On the other hand, there has been some chatter on different news programs or talk shows about Ms. Clinton's legal issues and whether or not she will be held responsible for any of the laws she has broken.  These stories, of course, have been quickly shoved under a rug.  WHY?

If any of the Republican candidates (or even Bernie Sanders) were facing these severe issues, they'd have been banned from running for office.  Other good men, in other presidential races in the past, have been disqualified from running for office for much lesser offenses.

So let me ask, why does the government have such huge rights that they can pick and choose who they want in an office, and we don't really have a say in the matter.  Supposedly, these people in office are elected by us, and are supposed to be seeing that our wants and needs are taken care of.  That means backing us in our choices of candidates.

It's too bad we can't fire them (elected officials) all and start over.  Supposedly we actually can do this, but I doubt if any of us would be allowed to follow through with this right.  Little by little, we are being stripped of all our rights.  I want our right to listen and choose for ourselves given back to us.

Sorry folks, but I just had to get all of this off my chest.  I am totally disgusted with most of the news media and today's government.  Some honesty and fairness would be oh so refreshing.  I've been thinking for a long time that our voting system is useless.  That our votes have no meaning and do not count.  That government officials have already made their choices as to who and what we will have to abide by.

Yes, I still go to the polls and vote, but do you suppose any of my votes ever counted?   The last two times I went to vote during presidential elections, I was flabbergasted and disgusted at a lot of what I saw happening and being allowed at the polls.  This only reassured my thoughts on whether or not my vote was important enough for me to go to the polls and vote.

Yes, I will go again to the polls this year.  I was taught that voting was a right and a privilege.  It would be nice though to be able to think that my vote is needed.

Okay!!  Nuff said!!  For being so polite by letting me vent, I have a freebie for you.  Later today, I'll be working on another one, hopefully for tomorrow's post.  Today's QP is very "Springy" and happy.

I also have a couple more photos of the hot air balloons that we saw in Florida.  It was awesome to be able to sit on our porch and enjoy a cup of coffee while we watched these magnificent balloons go by in the sky overhead.

Today, I must call the fuel company to order a delivery for tomorrow.  I also have to be on the alert for a package being delivered.  Yesterday, I spoke with my SIL Eddie about doing some renovation work on our upstairs bathroom.  So, some time soon he will be coming by to put in a new vanity and whatever else the room needs.

Maybe I'll have him do my bathroom floor too.  I've had the new tiles for quite a while.  It just hasn't been a priority.  I also need to go to the bank this week.  I'm thinking of changing an account to another bank.  I'm not happy with the service at the current bank this account is at.

Maybe later I will put a few more rows on the Honeydew green afghan.  It only needs about seven more rows to be finished.  My hands have been giving me a bit of grief so I've not been rushing to finish this project.

Well that's about it for today.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Glad you are home and had a good trip. Also, I appreciate so much when you take the time to visit and leave me such nice comments. Two things I try to not discuss, is politics and religion. We honestly do not have anyone qualified for the president. Our nation is in a terrible mess.Take time to rest and relax. Life is to short.

I agree that this campaign is becoming more like a reality show and doesn't seem to show anyone in a good light.

Hi Edna,

The afghan is almost finished! That is such great news. I think that if you had any wrapping paper left over it would be a good time to box and wrap it up and it will be ready for you later on. All then would be to but a bow on it and give to the lucky person receiving your wonderful gift. (I know that wrapping is not one of your favorite things to do).

I am in a real bind right now because none of the Presidential candidate's have my respect at the moment. It is going to be a hard decision for me in November when I go to the polls. I don't think that our vote really counts for anything, but like you I will go because it is my right and my privilege and I have always thought that if you didn't go out and vote then you have lost your voice and right to say anything about who our leaders are so yep I will be there!

Love the hot air balloons and thank you for the QP. It is so cute! Spring has bypassed us and we are now on to summer. It was 83 here yesterday and we are supposed to break our record sometimes this week. Thursday I think. I have moved all of my indoor plants outside to the patio and wow have they grown. I have to get some bigger pots and soil now.

Cisco and I have a love/hate relationship right now. He is on medication for his joints. I called the vet and he recommended an over the counter medication so I love him enough to fight the battle to give it to him but I really hate fighting with him when it comes time to take it.
Plus that little stinker... He wants to play at night now, so it has to be helping. He is up and sitting on me to play. He is 30 pounds now and is a heavy guy. I rolled over and have to move all of the toys that he is bringing into the bed and hiding. So far 2 balls, a rope, 2 of those forever flavored bones, a toy that rattles when he moves it. He will sit on me and paw at my face until I play with him.
Yesterday Jonathan took him over to Karyn's house which is a bit of a walk. We really thought that would tire him out and he would sleep. Instead it pushed his endorphins high and he was full of energy! Today when I see him sleeping I am going to wake him up. Nathan is home. He got in last night and right now they are on a potty run.

It is good that your going to have some work done in the bathroom and maybe you can get your tiles replaced to. I am having the last cup of coffee from what you sent to me. It really saved me on days like today when I am not really wanting more than a cup.
Have a great day........ Hugs, Beth and Cisco

As soon as one is home again from holiday the "normal"life takes over again, like all the bills, laundry, taking care of all different things.
Pity you couldn;t stay for a while longer in Florida. hmmm?
Sorry the tax stuff was a disappointment to you. But it seems that kind of things always get higher amounts.
Here we are rather flabbergasted by the race between president-candidates. Specially the way Mr. Trump is profiling himself. sorry to say I don;t like him, he is very rude and unpolite and dosn;t seem to have any solutions for the issues.
It is difficult for us people to make a choice when voting here too, we also have the feeling that almost anybody in government is listening to the voters.
Nevertheless we still go to vote.
Going to read you next post, so till in a couple of minutes LOL!

You hit the nail on the head as they say Edna! Main stream media is evil pure evil and I am stunned at the ignorance of those that blindly follow them! I am disgusted with the whole process. Have been since I was a young woman. I would rather die than listen to main stream media yammering on about scaring the American people to death! I watch the news to gather my weather and goodbye main stream media! Don't like any of them and I remember my hubby getting a frantic call from his brother saying Russia and China had attacked some middle eastern country. My hubby called me and I said there is nothing anywhere and I knew the idiot was plopped in front of Fox News Network like a zombie in need of a fix. Even the local Fox network has stories no one else can verify and they are filled with death and mayhem and threats of terror looming over us 24/7. Worse than the politicians that pull their string are these worthless news reports. Lies, Lies, Lies! Even those debates, a moderator should not incite a candidate to want to wring the woman's neck! That garbage is better served on the masses who sit and watch trash TV as I call it, reality TV! I will watch an episode of Fixer Upper any day but you will not ever see me watching Kim or Kanye. I could write a book for you about Kanye West. He is a poor underprivledged black like I am a Super Model at age 62! He grew up with two educated professional parents and lived in high society in the Highland Park area of Chicago. He knows nothing about despair and heartache and living in poverty. As for those Kardashians without the million their daddy made defending high profile scum they would be living in the streets. Barf, Barf, Barf. I was amused by the self righteous Mormon Mitt the bully who dogged Trump when he nearly caused a war during the Summer Olympics hosted by the Brit's by insulting their entire country! Sorry I know he was your governor but I can not stand the sight of his self righteous phoniness. In fact, we have the worst liberal government in Colorado, he has a double agenda, set a mass murdering piece of scum on a pedestal, spit in the faces of the loved ones who lost their family members to the scum and raise taxes and lie about the brutal attacks on Whites, Asians and Hispanics in the downtown Denver for several summers by violent blacks while he was the self righteous mayor. I know this for a fact because I worked for a doctor who put the reconstruction of their faces (4 of those victims) together again along with other surgeons, plastics and opthamology to help these young men live normal lives again. We also saw many Denver police officers who all told the same sad story, the mayor wants the violence swept deep inside the carpet threads! He is such a scum they elected him as governor! Argh....I H A T E politics! I H A T E the media! They are good together scratching each others itch!
