Happy Leap Day

February 29, 2016

Good morning from sunny and warm Florida.  It's also Happy Leap Day.  An extra day for everybody to have fun.   I got up very early this morning, and I've been struggling with Google and Internet Explorer and the internet connection here.

Between the three of these wicked naughty institutions, I haven't had access to my blog or the internet.  After several hours of trying everything I could think of, I am finally here (and back on the internet.  Phew!!  Now as long as these things keep working okay, I'll be a happy camper.

At one point, I did manage to find my emails, and there were a couple of beautiful scrap pages waiting there for me.  However, I'll have to find my way back to the email to download the pages so that I can share them here.

We had a great trip coming down here to Florida.  The problems began when we got to the airport and the car rental service wasn't in much of a hurry to come pick us up.  We had us quite a go round, and finally they showed up.

Daughter Audrey and her friend got here before we did, so she went to the market to pick up a few things to tide us over till today when we can go and do a bit of food shopping.  Pogo is slowly getting used to everything here again.  Right now, he is curled up in a blanket on the sofa, having a nice nap.

Daughter Deanne sent me lots more photos of Aurora Kay.  Today I have an old newborn photo of Aurora's daddy, Bobby, to share along with a new photo of Aurora.  My goodness, they look so much alike (at least right now).   This first photo is my grandson, Bobby.

And this is his daughter, Aurora.

See what I mean?  They almost look like the same baby.  An updated version, of course.

And here's a photo of the proud new Papa with his new daughter.

There's more news to tell but I'll have to save it for tomorrow.  Joe wants to go to the pool, but he can't until after Audrey and I get back from shopping.  He's going to stay here with Pogo.   So I guess it need to get busy and get dressed so that we can head out for the market.  It's going to be 81F degrees here today.  Wicked tough to handle, huh?  haha.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a beautiful day.

Hugs, Edna B,

Meet Our New Princess

February 28, 2016

Good morning.  I got up real early this morning (5 a.m.).  The nerves are doing a happy dance.  I got a text message right after I awoke, and guess what?????

Aurora Kay was born at 4 a.m., and weighed in at 7 1/2 pounds.  That's all I know so far.  The proud Daddy took a couple of photos to send to his mom and dad (Deanne and Eddie) and they sent them on to me.  Deanne has already given her new granddaughter a nickname.  Princess.  She made everyone hang around and wait all day and night until she was ready to meet the world.

Meet Aurora Kay.  Isn't she just precious???

Deanne and Eddie are going to drive us to the airport this morning.  Then they will go back to the hospital and Deanne has promised to take lots more photos for me.  I'll have to wait until I get back from Florida to meet our new little Princess.

You know, when the blessings start to roll in, they keep right on coming.  I have been soooo blessed.  Well, that's my news for this morning.  We'll be leaving in a few hours.   I'm going to check my suitcase one more time.  I had everything all packed last night except for the toiletries.  Those will go in the suitcase this morning.

Now I'm going to have my coffee and smooth my proud ruffled feathers.  The smile on my face is a mile wide!!!  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

We Have Reached "Crunch Time"

February 27, 2016

Good morning.  The sun is shining and I have so much to do today.  The time has flown by, and today is the "last minute."  (for all those things that I left till the last minute)  This morning I have to go out to do a couple of errands.  I'll have to pick up bird seed too.  Dwarf Mike says he will take care of feeding the birds and critters while I'm on vacation.

Another dwarf will take care of the mail and still another dwarf will take care of the plants.  We are a rather strange "extended type of family" here, but it works.  We all live here, so we pitch in and we help each other.

Oh dear!!!!!!!!!  I just got a text message from daughter Deanne.  It seems my newest great grandbaby is doing her best to arrive this morning.  Oh wow, maybe I'll get to see her before I leave.  This is all so exciting for Deanne and Eddie too.  It is their first grandchild.  Congratulations Deanne and Eddie, and God Bless to Bobby and Amber and the new baby.

I have a quick page for you that I made from the scrap layout of "My Summer Boys."  I hope you can use it.  Enjoy.

Here is your download link:

I have another photo of some of our new little plants that are enjoying these warmer temps and pushing their way up through the ground.  I hope they wait for me to get back home before they blossom.

Well, now I really do have to get dressed and go out to do my last minute errands.  With our baby coming, I may have even less time to get things done.  So, till Sunday or Monday, Y'all have a most beautiful day.

So Much To Do, So Little Time

February 26, 2016

Good morning.  Today is sunny and much cooler than yesterday.  Still it's not bad.  The temp now is 33F degrees, and will rise to around 40F later today.

Folks, I just realized that I did not post a quick page freebie this week.  I've been busy, and just forgot about it.  However, I'll post again tomorrow and have a QP for you.  Sunday morning will be quite busy as we'll be leaving for the airport so I may not get to post on Sunday.  We'll see.

My friend Beth sent me a Memory scrap layout.  This is beautiful Beth, thank you so much.  I've sent a copy of it on to the rest of the family so that they can enjoy it too.

I haven't posted any new photos of Pogo lately because he has become quite camera shy.  I took these photos of him with my phone shortly after we got home from the groomer several days ago.  As you can see, he is not very happy with me about taking his photo.

And here he is checking out the phone when he thinks the camera is off.  I'm hoping to get some more nice photos of him while we're in Florida.

Last night, I slept the whole night through.  Pogo did too.  He was snuggled on my left hip all night.  And we slept till almost 9 a.m. this morning.  He does tend to hog the blanket though.  I usually end up reaching for my bathrobe (or another blanket if it is handy) to cover the rest of me.  No complaints though.  The soft sounds of Pogo snoring is very soothing.

I have another photo to share.  While I was out in the yard a couple of days ago, I took some photos of all my little green sprouts that are coming up through the winter debris.  I'll wait a couple more weeks before cleaning out any of the dead leaves, etc.  Right now, the ground is still too cold to uncover the plants.

I just hope that when Pogo and I return from our vacation, all my plants will still be okay.  Last year's winter weather raised quite a bit of havoc on my plants.  Maybe this year will be better?

Today and tomorrow will be very busy here.  There is so much still to do before we leave on Sunday.  I have a stack of Pogo's blankets on the washer waiting to be put in and washed.  I need to wash one more load of my clothes, then finish packing my suitcase.  Saturday morning, I'll print out our boarding passes.

I still have to pack my purse/carryon tote.  This would be such an easy chore if I could pack my laptop or camera in my suitcase, but I don't pack anything valuable in the suitcase.  In the past, I've had a couple of small things removed from my suitcase.  Nothing valuable, but the thought of someone going through my things and taking anything just does not set very well with me.  I cannot carry both a purse and a carry on, so this year I have tried to downsize everything so that it will all fit in my purse/tote.

Now it is time for me to get started on things around here.  It will be afternoon before you know it.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a beautiful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Today Is Beautiful. Sunny, Windy And Warm.

February 25, 2014

Good afternoon.  SIL Eddie and I just got back from my brother in law Mel's funeral service a little while ago.  It's a beautiful day, sunny, windy and warm, around 60F degrees.  The service was just beautiful.  Near the end, the Rabbi sang the 23rd Psalm, first in Hebrew, then in English.  It brought tears to my eyes.  I've never heard it sung so beautifully.

Yesterday morning, Pogo and I kept our appointment with the tax accountant.  Oh my, I was a bundle of nerves.  But somehow all went well.  I only forgot to bring one paper with me, so I will drop that by either later today or tomorrow.  I feel better now that is out of the way.

Last night, there wasn't much sleep coming my way.  It was raining, with thunder and lightning, and the wind was howling up a storm all night long.  The trees were swaying and bending, and branches were coming down all over the place.  All small branches, thank you.  Today we have a heavy wind warning until around 7 p.m. tonight.

Pogo does not like the loud thunder and lightning.  So he was snuggled up against me all night long.  Somehow, I managed to doze off every now and then for a little while.  I think tonight I'll sleep very well.

I have a really cute cartoon to share that I borrowed from the web.  It's a rather nice way to get a message across to folks.

I found another picture on the web (and borrowed it too) that I thought I would share.  It's another way to plant a garden, using planter boxes and a trellis.  Actually, I rather like it, and I might try it this year.

Now I'm going to see what's for lunch.  Or maybe I'll just cook us an early supper.  Hmmm, it all depends on what I find in the fridge.  On that note, I'll take my leave.  So, till tomorrow, be safe and Y'all have a beautiful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

"D" Day Is Here!!!

February 24, 2016

Good morning.  At the moment, it is cloudy and wet.  Temps are right around 41F degrees, and headed for the low 50's later today.  Sounds like the right kind of day to do one's taxes.  This will be a short post because I will be leaving in a while to head for the accountant's office with all my tax stuff in hand.

Today is "D" day.  D for dreaded!!  I'll be so glad once the taxes are finished.  When I get back from Florida, I'll start a new notebook with tax information for next year.  Hopefully, this will make the chore next year a bit easier for me.  We'll see.

I was looking through some files and came across a couple of projects that I did in the past, and thought I would share them with you.  I love photographing birds, and this first project is a montage of some of my favorite bird photos.

Another fun project was to make a book, using our photos and a new technique.  I used a fun action from Panos FX to make my book.  This website has the most fascinating actions for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.  And, they offer a lot of freebie actions for you to try.  Treat yourself and have a look at their site.  Here's my book.

Yesterday, I was able to get a couple of errands done, but there is still a lot to do before the weekend.  SIL Eddie will go with me tomorrow to the service for my brother in law.  It's an hour's drive to get there, but with traffic it may take longer, so we'll leave a bit early.

Pogo had his yearly check-up yesterday with his doctor, and he did just fine.  Actually, he lost a few ounces, so now he only weighs five and a half pounds.  He does have a food allergy, so we came home with a new antibiotic for him to take.  Hopefully this will help with the itchy rash.

Right now, he is snuggled into a super plushy blanket on his sofa, snoring away.  Gosh, it makes my eyes so happy to watch him while he sleeps like this.  All animals should be able to do this.

Well, it's time now for me to start getting dressed and ready to head out.  Wish me luck.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a beautiful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A Day For Memories

February 23, 2016

Good morning.  Today it's cloudy and currently 32F degrees.  Later today the temps will get up to around 44F.  Still not so bad for a winter day here in New England.  It's still too cold to keep the door open, so Pogo will have to wait a few more hours before we can open it.

Yesterday brought some sad news to my family.  My brother in law, Melvin, passed on yesterday afternoon.  He'd been battling Parkinson's Disease for a very long time, and more recently, cancer.   Mel was always such a strong, wonderful person.

I found an old photo (taken probably in 1940) of my hubby Michael at the beach with his younger brother Mel, his grandmother and his mother.  My Michael is that handsome little fellow with the gorgeous smile.

This is another old photo of my hubby Michael, his brother Mel, his sister Edie, his father and his mother.  My hubby is the handsome young fellow on the left.  (probably taken in the '50s)

This is a photo of my Michael and his brother Mel taken later in life as they relax on the porch at Mel's summer cottage.  Again, my hubby is on the left.

Both men were very active in the business world.  My hubby in advertising and marketing, and Mel was a lawyer.  They both loved sports.  My hubby played softball till his early 70's, and Mel played golf and tennis until the Parkinson's no longer allowed for it.  Guys, I love and miss you both dearly.

Later this afternoon, Pogo has an appointment with his doctor for his yearly check-up.  We will make sure all his shots are up to date, and get his new travel papers that say he is in good health.  His little shirts are already packed in the suitcase, so he is all set to travel.

I still have a lot of things to do before I can leave, but little by little I am making some progress.  By the time Sunday rolls around, I'll have probably forgotten to do a lot of things, but I'll live with that.  All the important things will be done.

Daughter Deanne will be stopping by after work today.  We have an errand to do, and I will cross one more thing off my "to do" list.  I'm starting a bit late today, and it is almost noon.  Time to see what's in the fridge for lunch.

Well, that's my news for this morning.  So, till tomorrow, hug someone you love.  Y'all have a beautiful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Time Is Ticking Away Ever So Quickly

February 22, 2016

Good morning.  Our nice weather is holding up (42F), and today is another beautiful sunny day.  Later I will gather up the energy to go out and do a couple of errands.  Maybe even do a bit of food shopping later in the afternoon.

Time is flying by, and there seems like so much still to do before Pogo and I go on vacation.  I am making small dents in the "to do" list.  The important word here is "small."  Somehow, the list seems to grow when I am not looking at it.  How does this happen?

I'm busy all day long, doing only God knows what, and then in the evening I sit in my chair and try to put a few more rows on the medium rose afghan.  The crocheting goes a bit slower than usual because my little guy would prefer I give all my attention to just him.  Here's a view of my lap (photo taken with my cell phone).

No, I'm not complaining.  I love having Pogo on my lap.  Being loved and needed is super comforting.  There's no hurry to get the crocheting done.  Having my little guy feel loved and safe is so much more important.

Today Pogo is super happy because it is warm enough to keep the door open.  I put a large plushy blanket on the floor in front of the door for Pogo to sit on, just in case a draft tries to sneak in.  Right now, Pogo is barking loudly.  Be right back.......

An order just got delivered express.  A large box of 264 newborn diapers.  Obviously, this is for the new great grandbaby who is due shortly.  Unfortunately, I won't be here when the new little one makes her entrance into the world.  But "Grandma" Deanne has promised to take lots of photos and will send some to me.

They are showing some gorgeous sunrise photos on the Weather Channel.  Sad to say, I don't get to see many of these around here.  We probably have them, but my view is blocked.  I took this photo of the sunset a couple of nights ago while sitting in my lounge chair by the open door.  Unless I drive down the street a ways, this is the extent of my view.

As you can see, my view is limited.  But the colors in the sky that evening were simply gorgeous.  It was almost as if a paint box had spilled. There were purples, blues, yellows, oranges, pinks and corals.  If I lived on a pond, just think of the view I would have had.  Sighhhhhhhhhh!   I can dream, can't I?

I think I'll take my leave on that note.  It's time to start doing a few things around here.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a beautiful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

A New "Rosie"

February 21, 2016

Good morning.  It's another beautiful sunny day here in my little part of New England.  There are lots of little green things pushing up through the ground.  Jonquils, irises, lilies, chickens and hens, etc.  With the crazy weather pattern we've been having this year, it's no wonder that the plants don't know what to do.  I hope this popping up early doesn't hurt them from growing and blossoming later.

Daughter Deanne stopped by yesterday afternoon, and as she was leaving, we spotted a new critter visiting our yard.  It looked just like Rosie Raccoon who used to live in my backyard.  We took out some peanuts and Deanne threw them over by the tree with the squirrel feeder.

I got my camera and took some photos of our "New Rosie."  Gosh, she's a real cutie.  And hungry too!   She ate some of the peanuts, and then climbed the tree to look for more food in the squirrel feeder.

We'll have to start putting out some extra food in case our raccoon comes back looking for a meal.  If she keeps coming by, I'll put out a water bowl for her.

I've started packing my suitcase already.  And my new tote/purse has room for all my important items in it.  I just hope it won't be too heavy to carry.  I'll work on that this week.  Tomorrow, I need to make a trip to the post office to mail off a couple of packages.  Maybe while we're out, Pogo and I can  take a ride through the park.  Sounds like a super plan.

This will be a very busy week.  Pogo has his doctor appointment on Tuesday, and I see the tax accountant on Wednesday.  By Sunday, we'll be on a plane to Florida.  Woo Hoo!!

I got a late start here posting this morning because I've been busy doing all sorts of things around the house.  Now I need to see about some brunch for Pogo and me.  He's being very patient, lying next to me waiting for me to finish this post.  On that note, I'll make my way out to the kitchen.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Oh Boy, A New Box Of Yarn!!

February 19, 2016

Good morning.  The sun is shining and the temps will get up to the low 30's today.  Not too bad for a winter day in New England.  Gosh, I have a pain in my side this morning.  I hope I don't have a cold in my kidneys.  Just what I need so close to vacation time.  I'll have to double up on my nose spray.  (just a bit of humor here)

Daughter Deanne came by yesterday with two of my great grandchildren, Jack and Lilah.  Gosh they are getting so big.  Pogo had a wonderful time playing with the kids and having his favorite Auntie lavish lots of hugs on him.

The mailman just delivered a bunch of mail and a big box of yarn for me.  Woo Hoo!!  I opened the box and all the yarns will match the solid colors that I am working with.  What a relief!!  If the greens match as good as I think they will, I'll be taking the green yarns with me to Florida.

I dug out an old photo of my my brother Artie, one of our dwarfs named Bob and my hubby.  They have all passed on but this was a happy day for all of them.  I made a scrap page using an assortment of kits from my friend Kyra.  I'll try to turn it into a QP for you.

There's not very much news for today so I think I'll just get busy and find some fun mischief to get into.  Hmmm, probably that new box of yarn!!  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Wowsie! Only Thirty Days Till Spring!!

February 18, 2016

Good morning on this gorgeous sunny morning.  It's 32F degrees, and it won't get much warmer today, but oh my it is so much nicer than those wicked cold temps we had just a while ago.  Temps are supposed to be going up again soon, and that makes me really happy.   Spring might just be on it's way.  Only thirty more days!!!

This morning I was enjoying a super nice late snooze when there was a tap on my door.  I looked out to see the fuel oil delivery man.  Oh my!!  They never come this early in the day.  At least not to my house.  It was time to get up and start this new day.

So now the fuel tank is full again, and the bills have been put out in the mailbox to be picked up in a while.  So far, it's a pretty good day.  I spent hours yesterday looking for the charging cord for my little laptop.  Somehow it got separated from the laptop when I put it away.

I was telling my DIL Janet about this last evening, and I happened to look down on Pogo's sofa.  Oh my!!!   There was a plastic bag sitting there (that I had set there a few hours earlier), and in it was the cord and mouse that I had been searching for.   Some days my brains play hide and seek with me.

Today I will play with the little laptop for a bit to make sure all is well because it's the one I'm taking with me to Florida.  Daughter Deanne will be bringing my SX50 camera by because I want to take it with me on vacation.  It is much lighter than my DSL.  However, I have already ordered a brand new camera (very similar to mine) for Deanne.   It will arrive while I'm away, but she will come by and pick it up.

I don't have new photos for today so I dug into my archives from three years ago.  On this day in 2013 there was snow everywhere and the wind was howling away.  I was at work, and I took this photo through the living room window.

Later that day, I took another photo from the kitchen window (back of the house) of one of the tiny dark eyed Juncos looking for food in the snow.  Gosh, these little birds are so adorable.

While I am sitting here typing, my little Pogo is lying beside me, snoring away.  It's a most wonderful sound!!  Everyone should have a doggie (or a kitty) to love.

Last evening, I got an email from a designer (Creations By Rain) letting me know that she had posted new kits with Zlata.  You know I went right over to the digi store (http://wilma4ever.com) to get them.  I love that adorable little character.  Today I'll have some fun playing with these new kits.

Update on my rental car:  I finally managed to talk with the lady at the car rental agency and she made all the reservations for me. They will pick me up at the airport and later take me back to the airport.  The service is wonderful, and I've been using this same company for years.  For those of you who might need a rental car while in Florida ( in the Orlando area) the company is American Car Rental.

Now it's time for me to get busy and find some fun mischief to get into.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Another Beautiful Day

February 17, 2016

Good morning.  It's looking like another beautiful day outside my window.  The sun is shining and it is 37F degrees, headed for the mid 40's.  Not quite as warm as yesterday, but still very nice.  During the extreme cold temps lately, we used up most of our fuel supply trying to keep the house heated.  Today I will have to call the fuel company to arrange another delivery for tomorrow.

Yesterday, Pogo and I had a great time being out.  Although I will say that Pogo was not exactly thrilled about having to go to the salon.  Today I will try to get some new photos of my handsome little guy.  This will be challenging because when he sees the camera (or the cell phone) he turns his head away.

We went to town hall so that I could vote on an absentee ballot.  The voting will take place shortly after I get to Florida.  While we were there, we got a new license tag for Pogo and turned in our census papers.

While Pogo was at the salon, I was able to meander through a local discount store, where I found new curtains for my living room and a new rug for my bathroom.  I picked up a few other small items, as well as a gift to put away for next Christmas.

All this time, I totally forgot to reserve a rental car to use while in Florida, so today I'll have to do that today.  I don't know why I waited so long to do this, but it needs to done right away so I don't end up walking from the airport.  (NOT HAPPENING!)

Oh boy, I just took a break to call the car rental agency to book my car, and after being hung up on four different times, I finally looked the company up on Google.  Surprise, surprise.  There is a new phone number.  I called it only to find that the lady I usually work with to arrange for my car won't be in for a few days.  I left my home phone number and asked if she could call me.   Hopefully, she will call me back today.

Now I think it's time for me to get busy and do a few things around here.  First, let me post your QP for this week.  Perhaps you can use it to scrap some fun photos from Valentine's Day.

Now I'm off to see what sort of fun mischief I can get into today.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Oh What A Beautiful Day!!

February 16, 2016

Good morning.  My goodness, yesterday afternoon it started snowing again, and sometime during the early night it turned to freezing rain.  Then sometime during the wee hours, the heat came through and melted all the new snow and ice.  I looked at the thermometer and it was already 50 degrees.  Oh boy!!!

Right now it is 53F degrees and overcast.  My yard has large puddles everywhere.  Oh wow, it looks beautiful to me.  All the snow that was piled up everywhere is melting.  Hence, the puddles.  Believe it or not, we need these large puddles every now and then.  They make fabulous bird baths for large groups of birds to enjoy.

This morning, Pogo and I are watching the Westminster Dog Show on TV.  Oh my, so many beautiful doggies!!  The bulldog just took top honors in the "non-working" group.  What a handsome fellow!

In a little while, Pogo and I will get ready to go out to do some errands.  Pogo will keep his appointment at the salon, and I will pay a few bills, pick up Pogo's license tag and vote.  It's going to feel soooo good to be out and about again.

I borrowed this adorable minion image from the web because it made me think of sons-in-law every where.  Although in all fairness, most of the mothers-in-law that I know are pretty nice folks.

Later this afternoon, I need to decide where to put my two new hooks.  I'll probably use them in the kitchen for my pot holders.  Kyra, these are such fun!!

Well, that's about all my news for this morning.  It's time for Pogo and me to be getting ready to go out.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a super fantabulous day!!

Hugs, Edna B.

Oh My, A Heat Wave!! Woo Hoo!!

February 15, 2016

Good morning.  Well, we're up to 13F degrees now.  The weather man says we may even make it to 29 or 30 degrees later today.  Woo Hoo!!  A regular heat wave!!  Tomorrow is the day we're supposed to see temps in the 50's.  That's when Pogo and I will break out of here and do as many errands as we can while it is warm out.

Today I'll make up my shopping list for this week's groceries, and a list of groceries for daughter Audrey to pick up when she gets to Florida.  She usually gets there ahead of us,  and picks up a few things to tide us over till the next day when we can go shopping together.

Oh gosh, just think.  In two weeks, Pogo and I will be sitting on our little screened in porch, enjoying the sunshine and warmth.  I'll be enjoying my coffee, and Pogo will be snoozing in the sun.  Oh wow, just thinking about it is fun!!

Did you all figure out the answer to yesterday's picture puzzle?  If not, here's the answer.  This is the lower left corner of the image.  I've put in an arrow pointing to the odd pie.

Last night, I finally gave in and washed the dishes in the sink.  I didn't want to, but I couldn't rest easy knowing that they needed to be washed.  You have to understand, standing on the kitchen floor is like standing on frozen ice.  It's c-o-l-d!!  Even with thick slipper socks!  But I did it.

For supper tonight, I'm going to cook my little guy a tasty juicy steak because he has been so good through all this wicked cold.  Except for using his potty patch or getting up to bark at people (when necessary), he's been on my lap, covered with his fuzzy blankets.  We kept each other toasty warm.

Granddaughter Randi sent me a Valentine photo of the kids yesterday.  Here's Lilah, Ali and Jack.  Have I mentioned how blessed I am?

Every now and then, I pick up the Medium Rose afghan and put on a few more rows.  I think I need about three more rows and I'll be at the half way mark.  I've only been doing a row or two at a time because my hands would get cold.  I can already feel the difference in the temperature in here because my hands have not got cold while I've been typing here.  That's a good sign!

I borrowed a photo from the web of a beautiful black fox.  I never saw one of these before.  This fellow is simply gorgeous!!!

Well, that's all my news for this morning.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy Valentine'sDay & Happy Birthday Janicee

February  14, 2016

Good morning from frozen New England.   It is Minus 11 here, with high hopes of warming up to 11 degrees above zero sometime today.  Needless to say, it's cccold!!!  In my big old house, the distribution of heat isn't very fair when it is cold outside.  The colder it gets, the less heat makes it to my end of the house.  This morning, very little heat has been making it's way here to Pogo and me.

We spent the whole night snuggled up on my lounge chair beneath a pile of fuzzy blankets.  The only times we came out from under the blankets was for necessities, and then we hurried back to our pile of blankets.  Pogo got most of the blankets, but I at least had enough to keep my teeth from chattering.

Here's a photo of my little guy all snuggled and warm on my lap.  He sure knows how to stay warm.  I was crocheting when I took this photo.  Soon, I put out the light and pulled another blanket up over both of us.

Today is Valentine's Day, and this cold is a super reason to be cuddling with your loved one.   It's also Kevin's sweetheart's birthday.  Happy Birthday Janicee.  I'm wishing you a beautiful day.

The weather forecaster stills says that Tuesday is going to be a super warm day.  I hope so because that's the day that Pogo has his appointment at the salon.  However, there is another winter storm due to get here on Tuesday, so I'm not really sure what we'll end up with for temps or weather.

In two weeks though, Pogo and I will be in sunny Florida where, hopefully, it will be much warmer.  For today, the dishes can stay in the sink, and the dust bunnies can find corners to cuddle in.  I'm not straying very far from my chair and my pile of blankets.

My feet and arms are getting cold now, so it's time for me to head for the warmth of the lounge chair.  Before I go, here's another picture puzzle for you.  I borrowed this one from the web too.  I wonder how long it will take you to find the odd piece in the puzzle.

I'm off now.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a fantabulous Valentines Day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Oh My Gosh, It Is Too Ccccccold For Me!!!

February 12, 2016

Good morning from the freezer section of New England.  I'm beginning to look and feel like an old popsicle wrapped in a fleece bathrobe.  Even Pogo is snuggled beneath a mountain of fuzzy blankets.  I have to give a lot of credit to the folks who can handle this type of cold weather.  Obviously, I'm not one of them.  I'm one of the "Wimpy" folks.

Last night, I left the water running just a little in my bathroom and the downstairs bathroom in the house.  This morning, so far, they are still running.  That's a plus.  Of course, the really cold hasn't hit us yet.  It's on it's way.

We are supposed to get a break in this cold snap by Monday, when the temps will warm up.  Do you suppose if I start wishing away the weekend now it will work?  Hmmm, I didn't think so.  I'd like to take all this wicked cold and blow it down into Punxsutawney Phil's ground hog hole.  Let's see how he likes his "early Spring" weather.

How many of you found the kitty hiding in yesterday's puzzle image?  For those of you who haven't found the kitty, here's the answer.  I've placed a red circle around the kitty.  I really like tricky puzzles like this one.  It's good for the brain.

I downloaded a photo of my granddaughter Mia from her FB.  It's such a fun photo of her playing with a dolphin in sunny Florida.  This lovely young lady was a cheerleader all through high school, and to date still competes in national cheerleading competitions while holding down a full time job.  Mia, I'm so very proud of you.

I also have an adorable scrap page to share with you.  Beth made this page that features Pogo and some tiny country mice.  Oh oh, Pogo does not like mice!!  We had a mouse in our living room once, and it drove Pogo crazy.  Beth, it's a great scrap page.  We love it!!

Today is grocery shopping day, but I don't really need anything so maybe I won't go.  However, I will start my car once or twice, just to make sure it still works.  Well, that's about all my news for today.  My arms are wanting to get back under my fuzzy green blanket.  They keep popping out into the cold as I type.  So, till Sunday, Y'all stay warm and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Pretty Isn't Always Best

February 11, 2016

Good morning.  I was watching the Weather Channel this morning, but I shut it off.  It was too depressing.  The cold temps coming in here just aren't funny.  The good thing is that warmer temps will be here by Monday.  So I guess we'll just hunker down and wait for the wicked cold to pass.

Late yesterday afternoon, my water pipes started acting up and making funny noises.  SIL Eddie will be by today to have a look.  Just what I don't need right now is problems with the pipes breaking or freezing.  Hopefully, it will turn out to be something simple.

After I posted yesterday, I realized that I had not posted your freebie quick page.  So I'll post it now.  Lola and her friend are celebrating Valentines Day by indulging in some delicious chocolates.

Speaking of chocolates, I'm still enjoying the wonderful treats and chocolate that I got for Christmas.  I still have one and half Godiva chocolate bars left.  Mmmmmm.

Yesterday, I called JoAnn's about the last batch of yarn that I bought.  The colors are absolutely gorgeous, but they don't work up very well with solid colors.  They actually look awful once you start using them.  I thought they were variegated, but they are not.  It's hard to explain, but I don't like them.  I discussed this with JoAnn's and they said I could return the yarn.  So today I'll re-pack the box of yarn and get it in the mail today or tomorrow.

I'm trying to decide which afghan project to take with me to Florida.  Perhaps I'll take the green yarn.  I'll have to start packing my suitcase by next week to see if the yarn will fit in with my clothes.  If not, I'll have to pack it up in a box and mail it to myself in Florida.

Next Tuesday is supposed to be a really nice warm day, so I've re-scheduled Pogo's salon appointment for that day.  While he is getting all spiffied up, I'll do a couple of errands such as turn in my census paper, pick up Pogo's license tag and fill out an absentee voting ballot (the election day is while I'm away).

Now I have to get busy and finish wrapping a birthday present so that SIL Eddie can take it home with him.  Grandson Kevin's sweetie, Janicee, was born on Valentine's Day.  I also have another box of baby clothes to send back with Eddie.  Unless things change, this new baby will be born after I leave for Florida.

Today I have a new picture puzzle for you to figure out.  I borrowed this from the web.  It took me a little while to find the cat in the picture.  How long will it take you to find the cat?  Here, Kitty Kitty!  Have fun.

Well, now I'm off to find some fun mischief to get into.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Busy Getting Things In Order Before It's Time For Vacation

February 10, 2016

Good morning.  It wasn't doing anything when I looked out my window earlier, so I'm hoping that all the snow is gone for now.  We'll see.  Every time Joe goes out and cleans off my car, we seem to get just enough more snow to cover it again.  Right now, there's a new thin white layer on my car.

There's not a lot of news here lately.  My days seem to be revolving around getting all the tax stuff done.  Yesterday, I finished totaling all my columns - I hope.  Now I can take out the forms that the accountant sent to me and try to figure out what goes where.  Really!  I still think he should share his fee with me.  I'm doing all the work.

On a bright note, my Volume One B blog book came in the mail yesterday.  I must say that I'm very pleased with it.

Today I'll give a Wayne a call to make sure he doesn't forget to put me on his schedule soon.  I only have two weeks left to get everything done before it's time to leave for Florida.  I haven't found a new suitcase that I like, so I may take the one I have, and look for a new one at the flea market when I'm in Florida.

Oh groan, groan, groan.  The weather man is saying that we have more snow coming this afternoon.  This weekend, the nights are going to be wicked coooold!!  At least -9 for Saturday night, and -2 for Sunday night.  Pogo will definitely not be getting a hair cut this week.  When I finish this post, I'll call his groomer to re-schedule his appointment.

Well, there's lots to do so I'll take my leave now.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all stay warm and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

This Is A Few Snow Flakes??

February 9, 2016

Good morning.  Gosh, this snow doesn't seem to want to leave us.  The weather man just said that we could probably have a few snow flakes fall, and light snow showers during the day.  I hate to burst his bubble, but the snow hasn't stopped here yet from yesterday.  Yes, it is very light, but this is what a few snow flakes looks like this morning.

I guess Winter has decided that we need a lesson in cold.  This weekend our night time temps are supposed to be in the below zero digits.  Actually, Thursday night is supposed to be 0 or 1.  This is definitely not my happy cup of tea.

I may have to change Pogo's grooming appointment to next week.  This week is going to be just too cold for him to have his hair cut.  He is very low to the floor, and the cold temps come up through the carpeting when it is really cold.

I am slowly recovering from my cold/bug.  What I need is a huge dose of warm temps.  Somehow I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon.  However, in two and half weeks, Pogo and I will be on our way to sunny Florida.  We can languish in the sun and warmth for two whole weeks.

Yesterday afternoon, I spent a few more hours working on my tax stuff.  I think I'm up to the part where I have to start totaling all the columns.  Then I have to find the right place to put the figures on the tax forms.  Hmmm, I wonder why I need an accountant?  In two weeks, these taxes should be done.

Gosh, this is going to be a hectic two weeks.  There's so much to do.  Lists to type, things to clean, suitcases to pack, grooming for Pogo, (and hopefully for me too), tax appointment,  make sure fuel oil is full, and the list goes on.  Come to think of it, I haven't reserved my rental car yet either.

Before I get started on this new busy day, I have a cute photo to share of one of Pogo's friends.  This is Cisco.  He lives in Texas, and he loves cuddling inside fuzzy blankets and his mommy's fuzzy bathrobe too.

Remember that time I mentioned that I caught Pogo shopping on my laptop?  Well, he was ordering a box of cookies for his friend Cisco.  I got the order confirmation in my email.  He's a real sweetie, my Pogo.

Well, that's my news for this morning.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Snow, Snow, Go Away!!!

February 8, 2016

Good morning.  It's a sort of mini white out here.  The snow has been falling steadily, but so far it is a fine snow.  It has been windy though.  The good side of the wind is that it has been blowing all the snow off our huge pine trees.  Phew!  The last snow storm was very wet, and too much snow stuck to all the branches of the pines.  We lost quite a few branches from the weight of the snow.

On the other hand, I'm not so happy about getting a foot of snow, or having snow for three or four days in a row.  Hopefully, some of the snow will go out to sea and miss us.  Yes I know, wishful thinking!!

Well, who were you rooting for in last night's Super Bowl game?  Did your team win?  Several of the dwarfs sat up late to watch the game.  Most everyone here is in bed by 8 or 8:30 p.m., so the guys did well to stay up as long as they did.

For all my family and friends here in New England, I have some photos to share that my friend Beth sent to me.  Gosh, I am so jealous!!!!!   This tree is right outside her window.  And it has blooms and leaves!!!!

My friend Kyra has Snowdrops and Crocus coming up in her garden.  It's just not fair!  We have nothing coming up except for more snow!!   What is wrong with that Ground Hog?  Has he been smoking too much of that medicinal grass?  (image borrowed from web)

I'm still squirting the nose spray, and I'm still coughing and running temps on and off.  There's no point in calling my doctor today or the next couple of days because he will tell me to come to his office.  There's no way I'm going to take my car out in this snowy mess.  I'll just keep on squirting.

Well that's all the news for this morning.  So till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

OOPS!!! Parking Woes In Wisconsin

February 7, 2016

Good morning.  We're starting out today sunny and cold.  Soon though, it will be cloudy and cold.  More snow will be moving in tonight, all day tomorrow through Tuesday.  Oh goodie!!  We had snow on Friday.  3-5 inches was forecast with the snow ending by 3 p.m.  Unfortunately this was not the case.  Here's a photo of how much snow we already had at 2 p.m, and the snow did not stop until after supper.

This is Joe, cutting a path to my door and around my car.  As you can see, there's more than five inches of snow here.  Photo taken at 2 p.m. Friday.

I've been watching the news videos this morning of the parking fiasco in Wisconsin.  Parking for Winterfest was very scarce, so officials allowed visitors to park on frozen Lake Geneva.  Unfortunately, the weight of the cars was too much and the ice cracked.  At least wenty cars found themselves in water.

Here are some photos that I got from Google.  Would I have parked my vehicle out on the ice?  Not if you paid me!!!  I figure that if God wanted us to park on frozen lakes, He would have turned the ice to concrete.

From what I could find, all but two vehicles were able to be pulled out of the water.  No people were lost.  Possibly by the time I post here, the last couple of vehicles may have been pulled from the lake.

Have you noticed that the TV news channels are getting a bit more aggressive about reporting the snow?   In the past, we've gotten a foot or more of the white stuff and not one of the regular programs was constantly being interrupted to give us updates on how much snow was falling.  Friday, WBZ kept interrupting the regular programs every 30 minutes to give us updates.  Imagine!!!  All this concern for 1 - 5 inches of snow!!  Are the TV ratings really sinking that low?

I suppose most folks will be busy watching the Super Bowl today.  I won't.  I'm not a football fan.  But I hope it's an enjoyable game for you and hopefully your team will win.  Good luck.  I'll most likely be watching the puppy bowl.  That's usually a lot of fun.

Well, that's my news for this morning.  It's time to see about some breakfast for my little guy.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Mr. Groundhog - What's All This White Stuff????

February 5, 2016

Good morning.  Looking out my window, it's a winter wonderland here with everything covered with snow.  They are forecasting 3-5 inches of snow, but if it keeps coming down, we'll most likely get more than that.  There's already several inches on the ground.   This photo was taken from our front door.  Flakes of every size falling.  And they are all very wet!!  Makes for fun shoveling.

Of course, along with the mess from the snow, there is also beauty all around us.  Here's a photo of my Japanese Red Maple tree, adorned in all it's winter finery.  Now this is pretty!!

Well, I'm still here, squirting, coughing, and well -- all the other stuff.  I seem to be running temperatures on and off all day and night too.  I guess the nose spray is really working.

I've decided to stop my whining about not having the right yarns, and have picked up the medium rose afghan to finish with the existing yarn.  I will simply go a bit slower to catch the yarn as it splits.  It's the only way these afghans will ever get done this year.

Unfortunately, my interest doesn't stay very long.  I crochet a couple of rows, and I'm tired.  So I put it down and attempt to watch a bit of TV.  Sometimes this works, and other times I just fall asleep.  The good part is that I'm retired, so it really doesn't matter.

Joe did not do my shopping yesterday, so none of my meds got picked up.  I'll have to call the pharmacy today to see if they will hold them until this weekend.  Then I will try to go get them myself.

DIL Janet came by Wednesday and brought me a cute gift.  Have you ever seen an LED pen camera?  Here's what it looks like.  It's fun until someone asks to see the photos you take with it.  There are none!

Well, I don't have any more news for this morning.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.
