Ever Tried Shooting Your Own Turkey????

November 24, 2015

Good morning.  It's 28F degrees outside my door, and will get up to about 42F degrees later today.  I'll be happy if that's as cold as it gets all winter.  Alas, I don't think the weather gods care one tiny bit about what I think.

At least the sun is shining, giving the impression that is a bit warmer.  I went outside a little while ago to fill the bird feeder and put more peanut butter bread in the treat cage.  I barely got back inside when all the birds came rushing out to fill their tummies.

One of the things that I do for the little birds and the chipmunks, is to toss a whole bowl of bits of bread and peanuts on the ground under my car.  This is good for when it is raining, or when there are predators around.  Usually, it doesn't take very long before all the food is gobbled up.

I heard on the news this morning that Google is giving free downloads of Michael Jackson's Thriller album.   I thought I would check it out, but got side tracked to my own kind of music.  After a quick peek around, I downloaded one song "Blue Christmas" by Elvis Presley and Martina McBride.  I'll go back later and peek around some more.   Just go to Google, type in free ________ music MP3 downloads.

A few years ago, I had a super music juke box at the bottom of my blog, but for some reason, Google took it away.  I really enjoyed that, and so did a lot of blog readers.  Maybe someday they'll bring it back?  That would be super.

A few days ago, I took a photo of my Christmas cactus.  It is just loaded with buds, and now the blossoms are popping out.  This thing is just gorgeous.

This morning, there are at least eight more blossoms opened up on my plant.  I'll have to take some new photos.   I'm going to have to get a bigger pot and a ceiling hanger for this plant and possible a couple others.

Last night, I worked on the baby blanket while I watched TV (Major Crimes).  Aha!  This time I managed to stay awake through the whole program.  As for the blanket, I think there are about four or five more rows to go till it is finished.

I did try the pattern for the Royal Queen's Neck warmer, but I was not a bit happy with it.  I bought bulky yarn that it called for, but it was just too much bulk to go around one's neck.  I'll try some different yarns with it later.

Of the three dwarfs who are planning on being home for Thanksgiving, two of them have decided that Joe will cook a turkey dinner.  The third dwarf says he would rather have soup.  Hmmm, we'll see.  I will probably have my Chinese take out tomorrow night instead, and eat some turkey on Thanksgiving Day.

I found this delightful image on the web and just had to share it with you.  We can all use a giggle to start our day.

Today I will attempt to wrap a couple more things.  Yesterday I got to wrap and pack up one box, but there are a few little things that I need before I can finish up the rest of the boxes.  I got busy on-line and ordered a few things, and hopefully they will all arrive here in the next few days so that I can finish up all my boxes at least.

The update on Ali, as of yesterday, was that she is still not ready to come home, but has gained weight.  She's now reached five pounds.  We are all still hoping that she will be home for Thanksgiving.

Well  that's all my news for this morning.  Now I'm off to see what fun today holds for me and Pogo.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Hi Edna,

Playing catch-up here... wow I have been missing quiet a few days. I really dislike getting behind on your blog because I enjoy reading it so much.

That is great news about baby Ali gaining weight. She will be home before we know it. Got my fingers crossed and Prayers going up for that baby girl and her mama!

Oh I simply love the Royal neck warmer. It is just gorgeous but of course all of the things you do are gorgeous. I really love the afghans as well. That frosty green one is very nice. It is a darker green than I imagined but it is for a boy right, so that color of green is very male(ish) lol.

I guess that we are having some kind of Thanksgiving here after all. Laurie has a turkey... All that is asked of me is to make the stuffing/dressing as we call it here in the south. I will do that tomorrow. I like for it to sit over night and all of the flavors to Marry as they say in the cooking world. Of course I won't put my boiled eggs in it until time for it to go into the oven.

I love the pages that Kyra did for you... How beautiful... I cant wait for her next release. It is just beautiful. I read a post today about one of my designer groups that I am in, One of her kits was bought and then shared all over the place. How very wrong. With so many people that give free entire kits away, how sad that people resort to this kind of Piracy.

Oh I think that I am going online today and check out the Red Cross... as much as I dislike them, they do have the most updated information on our soldiers. I use to write letters to our soldiers in Desert Storm. My kids would write letters too and we didn't even have to put a stamp on them. So sad so much has changed now.

Dishes in the dishwasher, a load of laundry going and fixing to be put in the dryer to do yet another load of laundry and then nap time for me. I took my meds earlier and they have as usual made me very tired... or maybe overly relaxed. Thank you on the information on the Visiting Nurse.... I have one and she is very nice. The wound is now closing more and more every day. But my blood pressure has been up and they are watching that more closely than my wound I think. So I know it is the blood pressure meds that make me so tired.

Oh one more thing... Karyn helped me download a playlist for my tablet so now I can listen to more music.... Maybe we should petition Google for a new Juke Box... :)... take care... Cisco says Hi and Woof and I say Hi and Hugs to you and Pogo!

I have several Christmas cactus but they have not started to bloom yet. They really did well last year tho. Always enjoy what is going on your life. Mine is so dull, why bother. Have a great Holiday be warm.

I'm so glad little Ali is gaining weight as they so often lose weight from the birthing process. I'll still be hoping and praying she'll be home for Thanksgiving. Your cactus is beautiful. I brought my tiger aloe cactus in for the winter. they die if we get a hard freeze. I have it in my downstairs bathroom where it will get the most natural light. I was so excited to see a little bud coming out of it. I can't wait to see the flower. Oh and I really enjoyed the video of Jazzy as the ghost of Christmas Present. she is simply amazing!

The color of the blooms of the cactus is wonderful Jan has one too, and also starts to bloom, but his one has red blooms.Yes, you read it well, the indoor plants are Jan's section. How much I like to be occupied with plants in the garden, I never had green fingers for indoor plants. Funny hey?
again good news about Ali, she will be better every day and let's hope she will be home at Thanksgiving.
Hmmmm, you are kind of forced to eat turkey at Thanksgiving? Oh well, as long as you don;t have to prepare the dinner, it might be even nice LOL.
I'm done with wrapping and the box is on the mail! I did that yesterday. I kind of feel supergirl, hahaha. Now I am curious how long it will take to arrive.
At the moment it is raining, but later we might have some sunshine. I really do hope so, and perhaps I will go for a moment into town centre. Not sure about it yet, plans can be changed so easily!
Have a lovely day
Hug

P.S. Love that picture of the Minion, ROFL.
