A Super Nice Weekend

August 2, 2015

Good morning.  It's only 6:45 a.m. so the door is open, and Pogo and I are loving the cool breeze coming in.  Much as I don't like to get up real early, this cool air makes it all worthwhile.  This weekend welcomed in a new month, so here's the August page from my calendar.

I did some research on Google, and made a list of how many days are left in this year till the next five big holidays.   There are 89 days till Halloween,  116 days till Thanksgiving, 126 days till Chanuka, 144 days till Christmas and 152 days till New Years Day.  If you haven't been good this year, now's the time to start or Santa won't be coming to your house this year.

Well, it's been a busy weekend so far.   My Friday plans somehow got changed again, but Pogo and I did go out Friday night to get photos of the moon.  I thought it safest to go to a local pond instead of the ocean, but alas, we got there as they were getting ready to close for the night.  What?????  In this heat, one would think that they would stay open longer.

So now we drove around a while to find a good spot to set up a tripod.  Unfortunately, this is not as easy as it sounds.  I finally found an empty parking lot in an industrial area.  But it was pitch dark, and I was not feeling comfortable about being there alone with just Pogo.  So I did not get out of the car.  Instead I tried to hand hold the new lens while sitting in the car.

Folks, don't try this in the dark in a car.   I did my best to change back to my regular lens, took a couple of photos and got out of there.   Nest I pulled into the parking lot by our local Shaws supermarket to get another photo.  After leaving there, I pulled into another small parking lot to take another photo.   Then Pogo and I headed back home.

Sad to say, none of my photos was anything to brag about, but here are a couple of them.  Folks, this was a gorgeous big moon.  I took the photo at the small shopping area to show how large this moon was as it was rising in the sky behind the trees.

Yesterday afternoon, daughter Deanne picked me up, and we went to watch Jazzy perform in another Suessical Musical drama.  Oh my, this was ever so enjoyable.  The music was wonderful, and everyone did such a fabulous job.  Our Jazzy played the Wickersham #1 (monkey).    This first photo shows the Wickershams, Horton and JoJo.

This next photo features the birds, Thing 1 & 2, Cat in the Hat, JoJo and the Wickershams.

Deanne and I uploaded several videos to Facebook.  I would put one of them here, but I don't know how yet.  We are all so very proud of our Jazzy girl.  Sweetie, keep doing what you're doing.  Broadway is always looking for new stars.

Today I think I'll start looking through all my photos and start putting next year's calendar together.  I may even try using different types of photos this time.  Usually, I stick to close-ups of birds, animals and flowers.  It might be nice to use photos of scenery.  Hmmm, I'll have to give this some thought.

Well, I think I'll make myself a cup of coffee and catch up a bit on my blog reading.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a magnificent day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I enjoy reading about your daily activities. I do not do anything worth reporting. I have never been good at taking moon sights. You did very well with yours tho. As to Suzanne, she does not blog anymore. She does more on Facebook. I do not have Facebook and do not want it. She does still have her blog and could post if she wanted. Said she did not have time. She is an excellent writer and sorry she does not say more with us.

And 536 days until we get a new President, 257 days until your income tax return must be filed. And much to my daughters chagrin only 17 more days until the first day of school!

You were right not to get out of the car in that dark and lonesome area! Better to go there not at all! We had a beautiful moon too the last two days, I could see it standing in my garden, oh, you would have loved it and with your camera and lenses it would have been a fantastic photo!
Today i going to be very warm again, so we will not move too much, I think.
Of course you are proud of Jazzy, she looks so lovely, performing.
She should follow lessons at the acamedy for performng arts!
Have a wonderful day, dear.
Hugs
