Happy Fourth of July

 July 3, 2015

Good morning.  This is my second attempt to type this post.  I was busy typing, and Blogger just wiped everything out with no warning at all.  This very frustrating!!!

I've been up since around 3:30 a.m., and have already done a bit of work on my laptop.  Now I think I'll have me a cup of coffee, and check my shopping list.  We did not get to go grocery shopping yesterday, so we are going early this morning.

There has been a terror threat for Boston, for the Fourth of July Celebration.  I've been watching a video on the news of all the extra security measures being implemented to investigate this threat and to make sure the public will be safe.

Imagine the cost of all this extra security.  Now imagine the cost to the taxpayers of this state to hold the Olympics here.  There is no way we can afford to pay for any of this.  So why is the Olympic committee so hell bent on having the Olympics held here.  Most of the citizens of this state DO NOT want to have them here.  We DO NOT want to have to pay for any of it.  We can't afford our own bills, so what in the world makes anyone think that we should take on this project?

Also in the news is the little girl whose body was found at Deer Island about a week ago.  No one seems to be able to identify her.  This is so sad.  How can you not know that your child is missing?  Government officials are asking anyone with any information to come forward so that they can give this little girl a name.

Yesterday, we had a tiny bunny in our yard, happily munching on greenery.  I got my cell phone, but this little kid was just too fast for me.  The best photo I could get was this one taken from the kitchen window.  Unfortunately, The bush outside the window blocked most of my view.

I also found a new crochet pattern online that I'm going to try soon.  It's a rather pretty shawl.

Pogo has run out to the pantry to bark, so that means that Joe is up now.  So, I'll have to go open the pantry door now so that Pogo can go into the house and have his turkey treat.

I want to wish everyone a safe and Happy Fourth of July.  If you can't get out to watch any local fireworks displays, I'm sure there will be some televised for your area.  I know I'll be watching the Boston celebration on TV.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a wonderful weekend and a safe holiday.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy 4th to you, Pogo and all the dwarfs. It is a time to appreciate what we have and realize what we need to protect. We all need to be informed and then vote our hearts ... not somebody else's pocketbook. The role that money plays in our politics is a sin and our Supreme Court should be ashamed ... but they aren't because, sadly, they are political even though they aren't supposed to be.

We have really nice fireworks in our little country town every year and the best part is that we can watch them from our deck out over the lake. I will try to take pictures, but alas it is night and my night time photography is not great. I suppose I could get out the tripod, but ... well, we'll see. I am finished with my yard work for a day at least. We will see ... it is not supposed to rain so maybe I won't have to cut the grass again for awhile. I am really sick of cutting grass and pulling weeds and the summer has only just begun ... ugh!

I like your shawl pattern. Looks like a lot of work though ... maybe not any more than the blankets. I guess it doesn't really matter since you enjoy doing it. That is what is important.

We are going to have parties on both sides of us tomorrow ... poor Izzi's domain will be invaded by hundreds of strangers. It is too late to put her on tranquilizers and I wouldn't want to do that anyway because she is still on anti-inflammatories and sometimes pain meds. Enough is enough. She will be stressed so I am going to put her thunder jacket on her and see if that helps...The downside of holiday weekends :(

Well, Edna, you have a wonderful 4th with your dwarfs and I will look for you on the other side of this weekend. Stay safe and love to Pogo from all of us ...

Hi Edna,

Ohh wow I love that shawl. Very pretty! It is scary to hear of the terror threat. I worry every day that we are going to be attacked again. It is as if waiting for the other shoe to drop so to speak.
I am washing my bedding today and cleaning up. Jonathan and I are going out today at noon to eat and then we are going to the grocery store. I haven't decided about getting my hair cut yet. I am wanting to, just now wanting to spend the extra money right now.
I am not going to update my blog today. I don't have the time to do so right now and I don't have much going on anyway. It can wait until tomorrow.
Oh I downloaded Skype last night and talked to one of my girlfriends for about an hour. I was so self conscious with my teeth and all but we had fun. I probably wont do it a lot but it was fun.
If our states would take the money that they spend on friviolous things and put it into things that really matter how much greater our country would be. I think that money to host events like the Olympics should be raised by private sectors. Fund raisers and not money from our politicians.
Jon says lets go now so I will close and get going. Hugs from Cisco and Me!!!! Beth

Happy 4th of July! thanks for the lovely qp too! I love it. Hope your 4th is filled with family, friends, fun, and fireworks. wish we had wildlife here - too hot. I hope everything is safe in Boston. why do people have to try and ruin things and hurt others I'll never understand.

First happy 4th of July to you and the dwarfs.
Terrible that now a days there are so many stupid and dumbo people who think it is useful
and/or funny to threaten people, for anything. And all for a "good cause"(their good cause, which isn't often).
And yeah, great to have the Olympics in your country, but why should it cost so much?
for one: because it has to be protected, to be safe, but you NEVER can protect 100%, impossible.
It's all become too big, too commercial, everything with "too much"in front of it.
Such a pity.

Oh whee, today it is really very warm outside, better to stay inside, it is cooler, although we don't have airco).
Hope you will have a great program with the fireworks on tv today.

Have a fantastic day,
Hugs
