A Visit To Old Town

March 6, 2015

Good morning.  It's a bit cloudy this morning (only 7:30 a.m.) but it is still warm so we are having our coffee (and our breakfast) out on the porch.  What a great way to start the day.

Yesterday Joe spent the day at the pool.  He found a nice old gentleman with a checkers board, and they played for hours while us gals went to Old Town to look at rocks at the Black Market Minerals shop.

After leaving the rock shop, we wandered around Old Town to see all the other cool things it has to offer.  This is Audrey and her friend trying to decide which shop to check out next.

This is a display of an old Chicago delivery truck.  The older automobiles are very popular here in Old Town, as you can see by the "Dodge" bench.  There were a few other "old car" benches.

I'm thinking that this fellow was probably caught snooping around where he did not belong, and was quickly apprehended and put out with the trash.

I love this old "Haunted" building.  The architecture is simply fabulous.   It makes me think that in its hey day, it was probably a fun place to live.

There was so much more fun stuff here in Old Town to see, and we managed to see most all of it.  Our internet connection is not so speedy and it takes quite a while to upload the photos, so these will have to do for today.

When we left Old Town, we went in search of the local state park.  It's a beautifully landscaped area with lots of trees, a lake and shady areas where you can sit and enjoy the sights.  There are several piers that go out over the water, a lighthouse and lots of other places to stop and take some gorgeous photos.  I'll have photos from the park tomorrow.

Today, we might just get to go up for a helicopter ride.  The girls aren't interested, but Joe says he will go with me so that I can try it.   So who knows?  Maybe we'll go check it out later this morning.  Well, that's about all the news for this morning.  It's time for this old gal and her little dog to get dressed and go find some fabulous mischief to get into.  So, till Sunday, Y'all be well and have a magnificent weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

Ohh wow, a helicopter ride. That is one of the few good memories that I have with my parents. We went up for a ride when I was about 8 or so and loved it. I hope that you and Joe get to go. It will be fun.

Old Town looks like it was a fun place to hang out. I am glad that you found the state park as well.

As for me, I have been having a lazy couple of days. I added an extra pill to my never ending supply and it has made me very tired. I am not complaining tho because my body has needed the rest.

Edna, there really isn't a story behind the layout. It caught my attention as I was playing around. I thought of naming it The Last Goodbye. It seemed fitting. I was trying a new technique but ended up liking it the way that it was.
Today's page is not nearly as exciting. Just some snap shots of Karyn and the kiddos at the Austin Festival back in 2012.

My darling daughter will be home tonight. She said she is spending the night with me, but I bet that she is headed home to her own bed lol. I can't blame her for that.

I have to have maintence come in and fix my faucet. I was taking a shower and the whole thing came right off in my hand. I almost did not get the water shut off. Also I really need them to check out our water heater. We are not getting a lot of hot water lately.

Well this is it for me. More coffee for me and then I guess I need to find some breakfast. Have Fun Edna, and so glad to hear of your adventures. Hugs, Beth

Oh, yeah, you really should go for that helicopter flight! I once had one in a rather big helicopter, flying over the Caucasian mountains!

This looks like a marvelous place to explore. I'll leave the helicopter ride for you....don't like heights much so that doesn't appeal to me. That old house would be fun to roam through. I wonder what it looked like in its prime.

Goodness, you are having such fun and such lovely weather! I told you the news kept reporting snow everyone in the USA except Florida! We had a lovely day yesterday and today. We worked in the garage today and boy did I get rid of stuff. Two loads to the thrift store. My son-in-law roger grew up in Florida. I will have to tell you some interesting things about his phamily. His grandfather was a shrimp boat captain and in the 1960s National Geographic did an article about him. It is a shame my SIL could not get a copy of that! Also his grandmother was going to be forced out of her home and she fought the bureaucrats and found out her home was a historical site. Not only did they have to move her into a different home her home was declared a historical site and was a museum. Roger likes to tell the story of traveling over the Florida Keys Overseas Hwy with his dad when he was a small child. He said he always felt so small. Someday I would like to visit Florida and visit the places where he grew up. I bet Pogo is enjoying the nice weather. Did you take that helicopter ride? Brave lady! I always enter giveaways and one recently, to win a trip to Santa Fe NM came with a free hot air balloon ride. HaHaHa! I am not sure about that! But my friend Lyn's hubby won $80,000 a few years ago in the Cocoa Cola March Madness Sweepstakes! Well I always enjoy my visits with you Miss Edna. Enjoy that trip! I am hopeful the snow will be disappearing soon for all of us. I like to be optimistic! Hugs!

The old is always better and prettier than the stuff they call modern or new age!

Glad you had such a great day. You would have to tie me up and knock me out before i'd get in a helicopter. if you got to go up I'm hoping you had a good time.

Time to swap out my keyboard. too many keys not working.

Have a good day and a great week ahead!
