Pogo Is A Collector Of All Things Fuzzy

February 13, 2015

Good morning.  I'm not so crazy today.  The sun is shining and there is nothing falling from the sky.  No white stuff, no wet stuff, just bright sunshine.  It's only for today, but I'll take it.  Did I mention it is cold?   Today is supposed to get up to 12F degrees, and tonight will go down to four below zero.

Did you like my title today?  I thought I was bad about collecting things, but my Pogo is just like me in a way.  He collects fuzzies.   Blankets, bathrobes, and anything that is fuzzy and big enough for him to crawl under.

This is a photo of him sleeping on his little sofa last night.  As you can see, he has a pink and gray fuzzy blanket, a black printed blanket, and my fuzzy blue bathrobe.  Under all of this is a green and white Pooh Bear fuzzy blanket.  He has another collection of these fuzzies on my sofa and in his bed.

Early yesterday afternoon, a nice gentleman stopped by to have a look at my roofs and talk with me.  The first thing he said was "Gosh, you sure have a mess on your hands!"   He meant all the snow and icicles on the roofs.   He told me that they are overwhelmed with snow removal jobs, but that he would fit me in somehow.  He would try to come by later today and tomorrow to see how much snow they could get off the roofs.

We also discussed having him come by later after all the snows have gone by to give me some prices for installing the heater cords that go around the whole perimeter of your roof.   This way we won't have the problem with all the huge icicles and built up water and ice beneath the snow on the roof.  It's another unexpected big expense, but it could save me a lot of money in repairs.  We'll see.

I have a couple of photos to share that I took from our kitchen window.  As you can see, the snow is beginning to take away most of my view.  The snow is getting higher and higher with every storm.  I had to zoom in to get the photo of the little bird on the treat holder.  He and his friends finished this one off, and I made up more peanut butter treats that Joe put out when he got home.

Yesterday, I also did a bit more work on my taxes.  There's still a ways to go, but if I do a batch each day, I hope to be ready for my appointment with the accountant next week.   Last night, I actually got back to my crocheting too.  I am way behind on all the projects that I wanted to make this year.

Later today, Joe and I will do some food shopping.  On the way, I have to stop by the bank, the hardware store and the Post Office.  It's going to feel good to get out of the house for a bit.

Well that's my news for today.  So till Sunday, Y'all stay warm and have a fabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

P.S.  HAPPY VALENTINES DAY everybody.

Happy Valentines to you too Edna. Such good news about the snow removal. I know that it is a big and unexpected expense that your not looking forward to but your right. It could save you a lot of money in repairs and you sure do not need the roof to cave in or leak.

Love little Pogo's all things fuzzy. Catchy title. Cisco is a fuzzy collector as well. Especially my bath robe but they are only small once. He can have what he wants. Besides he is an old man and needs the creature comforts.

Going to go to the office Valentine Day party tomorrow. It will be my first outing since I caught this flu. I think that I am over the worse of it now. Thankfully.

Love the bird photos... Have a great day, Beth

Kevin SURE didn’t look happy about going in for the surgical procedure. I hope they get an easy to find and fix answer from the tests!

We have a cousin who just moved back to Boston this year after 10+ years in North Carolina. She sent me a text saying “Got snow?” Then she mentioned with more coming she has over 10-0foot snow piles and has no place else to put any more when they shovel. I mentioned that I have a friend a ways south of her that’s going through the same. I hate our sub-zero and snow but I just ache for you guys in New England! Where is the off-button on the snow machine??

My counselor had suggested, and I took her advice, I get a full spectrum light lamp. The light is equal to adding natural sunlight to the room and it creates a calming and happier mood. I was skeptical at first but I found a full spectrum light lamp on Amazon for less than $25, so I gave it a try. It really does make a difference. It doesn’t make you start singing show tunes the minute it’s turned on but I realized I was humming while I was working and just generally felt happier after it was on for a while. You know I’m a pretty happy person anyway, but the snow and especially snowy gray days get to me. The feeling of sunlight indoors does make me forget the cold gloomies outside easier.

I have mounds of fuzzies all over the dining room and living room just like Pogo, but I always end up with a blanket or stack of them being commandeered by cats. Carla and I disagree about the white polka dot blanket all the time. It’s the right size to fold in half and use as a lap blanket when I go out but she has claimed it as hers almost as long as I’ve had it.

I’m glad the snow isn’t higher than the bird feeders…yet…and you can still put together food at the birds’ favorite restaurant. It’s just so way-beyond-pretty to horrific to see snow that deep. I hope you all get a break in it falling soon and a slow but steady melting soon after that!

Everyone stay safe and warm!
Hugs, Nani

Good news about the "roof"guy. Great he came so quick, and will try to fit you into his schedule.
The heating cord at the roof would be a wonderful thing. Yes, it will cost something, but as you say, it could prevent that you get more expenses on roof repair and leaks and such.
Oh, good girl to be busy with all the stuff for the taxes. I am still waiting on some papers and then i can copy all and send it to our accountant. I just want him to do it cause I am hopeless in it and we will find the money to pay him somewhere .
Planning to do not much today, just have to make a soup later today, and I would like to do something in PSE, have more than enough to make there. Busy on a kit and have to make a few previews for Arlene's clusters and upload those files,, so the day will be gone soon enough.
Be careful when you go out on the road dear. But it will be good to be out for a while.
Hugs
Kyra

Happy Valentines Day to you as well.
I'm so happy the roof guy got to you quickly. We used to have the heating coils on our roof and they do help avoid those big icicles.

Hope Valentine's Day was swell for you too! We had quite a nice day and on Friday too! Lots of things going on. Glad your snow removal process is going well. A relief I am sure. Pogo is a smart fellow. Stay warm and cozy under all those fuzzies. HaHaHa. Stay warm you two and enjoy the moments of sunshine.
