Starting A New Project - A Lapghan

October 16, 2014

Good morning.  Well, last night I fell asleep about 10 o'clock and woke up shortly before 2 a.m.  At this point, I was awake so I decided to finish the green afghan.  Once that was done, I tried to resize my favorite pattern down to wheel chair size.

For colors, I'm using Buff and Camouflage, and I have twelve rows already worked.  I'm not really sure if the size is right, so later when Joe gets home from work, I'll try it on his lap to see how it fits.  At the very worst, if this is turning out too small I can give it to a young person and increase the size on the next lapghan.  Here's a color swatch of Buff and Camouflage.

It has been in the upper 60'sF here all night,   Today will be in the low 70's and I had thought that Pogo and I might have our lunch at the park.  However, we're supposed to have thunder storms with rain on and off all day so we may have to change our plans.  Tomorrow and Saturday are supposed to be nice so maybe we can go to the park on one of those days.

Yesterday I had a follow up appointment with my orthopedic doctor.  The results were that I'm doing okay.  Should the insurance company try to mess up my meds again, the doctor will take care of it.   This was very reassuring.

Daughter Deanne stopped by in the afternoon and brought me a gorgeous lighted angel to put up with my Christmas tree.  I will have to take a photo because it really is quite beautiful.  Later, DIL Janet showed up with a box of mmm, mmm, mmm delicious pastries for our dessert.  The assortment included blueberry pastries, apple turnovers, lemon squares and lemon Danish pasties.  Are you drooling yet?

After supper, Wayne stopped by to return my little travel notebook.  It had needed a good cleaning out.  I like taking the notebook with me when I go to anywhere because it is smaller and much lighter than my laptop.

Well, I've finished my cup of coffee and I've set Pogo's breakfast on his little dinner mat, so now I think I'll see about catching a small nap.  Before I do, let me share this wonderful button that I found on the web.  It is sooooo me!

That's it for now folks.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Am I drooling yet??? Do you need to ask? Thankfully I just ate my lunch so I didn't go nuts over your pastries, but oh my ... they sound delicious. Do you have any left over? I mean, wouldn't it be nice if we could skype pastries to each other ... I laugh at the thought, but the way technology is progressing, I am guessing that will happen one day. I doubt that I will be around to see it which is a good thing. I have a hard enough time dealing with the temptations in my own home.

So I am guessing your lapghan is destined for a male lap ... I think women would be more content with some lighter, brighter colors. I love that you are making them though ... I bet if you called a Vet hospital, they would love to have them. You are a very neat lady, Edna ... no doubt about it.

So let me guess ... you spent so many years switching back and forth from days to nights to days when you were working, I am thinking your circadian rythyms are messed up and that is why you have a hard time settling in on a reasonable sleep schedule. Maybe you should bring it up to your doctor ... or start taking 5mg of Melatonin before you go to bed or drink a bottle of "Sleep" (Neuro drinks, you can get it at your grocery store)before you go to bed. Those are both natural and help replace a hormone that your body produces less of as you get older. Anyway ... a good night sleep is a must if you are going to avoid getting sick when the weather gets ugly. Give it some thought.

It rained again this morning. It is clear now, but everything is wet so I can't really do any yard work until it dries. I did go out and bring in some feeders and clean them and when they are dry I will put them back out. My FH and I are going to get our flu shots this afternoon, Ugh! We are later than usual this year, but seems like we are always busy with something. But, we now have our paperwork filled out so there are no more excuses. Good that Medicare covers it because I would probably never get the old poop over for it if they didn't ... just sayin'

Well, better go. I feel the urge to get something done. I don't know for sure what, but I don't like to pass up my urges because they are few and far between. You have a nice restful day, but don't rest too much or you won't be able to sleep tonight! Stay well, Miss
Edna ...

Those pastries sound so yummie!!
Bet, you had a great afternoon and evening tasting them!!!
And okay, you woke up at about 2.00 at night but had already a few hours of good sleep.
Think Andrea is right that your body is used to irregular schdules because of your work for so many years.
It takes some time to get used to a "normal"rythm again, I see it with Jan too.
Now have to post on my blog.
Have a fantastic weekend
