Some Interesting Tidbits

Good morning.  Yesterday was a rather warm, but quiet day.  It seems everyone held their gatherings and parties on Saturday and Sunday, and on Monday they all enjoyed a restful lazy day.  Pogo and I did not party over the weekend, but we did enjoy the peaceful quiet yesterday.

Yesterday's plans got changed a bit, so Joe and Pogo and I went shopping for bird seed.  While we were at the store (Ocean State Job Lot) we walked around looking at different things, and stopped to chat with a lot of nice folks.  Actually, all these folks were stopping to ooooh and ahhhhh over Pogo.

One lady we met said that she would love to have a stroller like ours for her little dog, but her hubby already thought she was crazy because she talked to her fur baby.  Another lady said that Pogo had the sweetest face she's ever seen on a little doggie.  Of course, Pogo loved all the attention and went right on looking ever so adorable.

Other than one trip to the store, not much has been happening around here.  I did go out into the yard to take a few more photos of some of our flowers.  There were lots of large bumble bees  enjoying the butterfly bushes, so I took a few photos of them.  Later when I looked at my photos on the laptop, one of them held a nice surprise for me.

Mostly what we have still blooming are the roses, the hydrangea, the butterfly bushes and the Rose of Sharon.  Here's a pretty shot of one of the hydrangea blossoms.

The veggie garden is not doing so well, however, the tomatoes and green bell peppers are still producing fruit.  These two peppers are still small, but oh my they will be ever so tasty once they get a little bigger. 

Now I must get busy and make myself a new cup of coffee.  I made one before I sat down to type this post, then forgot to drink it. 

By the way, did you know that the first book manuscript to be typed before being sent to a publisher was Mark Twain's "The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer" in 1876 -- when the first typewriter was manufactured?  Or that Mark Twain failed to graduate from elementary school?   

Did you know that Haley's Comet came into view in 1835, the year in which March Twain was born, and was again in view in 1910 when Mark Twain died?

That was just a little bit of interesting history for you.  Now I'll be on my way.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.
