"Odile" Is Wreaking Havoc On Mexico And The U.S.

September 16, 2014

Good morning.  Gosh, it was chilly in here this morning.  Even Pogo did not want to come out from under the covers.  So we stayed snuggled up together until after 10 o'clock.  According to the weatherman, Friday should be our coldest day this week.  It's only expected to get up to the mid 60's.  Autumn is rushing in too quickly for me.

I've been watching the Weather Channel all morning.  They've been showing videos of the storm Odile, and all the damage that it has been doing in Mexico.  Now however, it is getting ready to dump lots of rain on the Southwestern U.S.  Folks in this part of the country are trying to clean up from the flooding they've just recently had and now they need to brace themselves for more heavy flooding.

Meanwhile, there are fires burning in California.  Makes me wonder if my idea of water pipelines would have been a good thing to have in place here.  The cost of building the pipelines would have been outweighed by the cost of damage from the floods and fires.  But what do I know!

There's not much happening here.  As the weather gets cooler, I tend to stay indoors more.  Last night though, I did finish the cornmeal afghan and I put a few more rows on the lavender afghan.  Here's a photo of the finished cornmeal afghan.   This is one of my favorites to date.  The colors are just so homey and inviting.

Dee Dee and Eddie came by yesterday, and together we finally decided on the type of storm door that I'm looking for.  Today, while Eddie is out doing his errands, he is checking to see where we can purchase this door.  It is all screen and all glass, and the glass panels slide up or down.  Pogo will be able to stretch out on the carpet in front of this door and catch a nice breeze while he keeps an eye on what the critters in the yard are doing.

I have another cute photo to share with you.  This is one of the tiny chipmunks that live in our yard.  They are just the cutest little things, and a lot of fun to watch.

One other thing that I did last night, was to watch the movie "Diana" on my tablet.   Diana led quite an interesting, yet lonely, life.   I still think it is so sad that such a beautiful person's life was cut short.  When I say "beautiful" I am referring to the inner person as well as the physical beauty.  She was a caring, loving person who did a lot to help others.

Okay, enough chatter.  It's time to get out my long fluffy bathrobe and start thinking about putting the shorts away.   Sweatpant season is quickly approaching.  I think I'll put away the lightweight blankets too, and bring out the warmer ones.   So, on that note, I'll take my leave.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B

It is chilly here this morning. I think I will have to put socks on, my toes are freezing.
I hope the rains will wash away the fires but not flood. Strange year already for hurricanes.
Thinking I need to find my fall clothes as well.
Cozy up!

It is five and the animals await thier evening meal, but I wanted to let you know that I have nominated you for an award. It is called the Butterfly Light award and it is for people who spread the light in peoples lives. You, clearly are one of those people. There is no obligation to accept the award ... just know that I think you are deserving of it :) Catch you later ...

The cornmeal one is very inviting - makes you want to snuggle right up with a nice cat or dog and read a good book.
The chipmunk is adorable - they are so entertaining to watch and I love it when I find them in our campsites.

It's a shame that 'common sense' is never found in most governing bodies! I love your afghan. I haven't made a large one in a while. Maybe it's time :)

Your corn afghan is beautiful!
Just looking at the colors you already feel warmer.
So happy for you, that Eddie can do a lot of hard work for you, like with the newdoor.
Pogo will be ever so happy to be able to keep an eye on the grounds, once the door is placed.
Today looking forward to a rather warm and sunny day, yippee.
Must enjoy those, while we still have them.
Have a wonderful day.
