HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY

July 4, 2014

Good morning, and Happy Fourth Of July!!  Well, Hurricane Arthur has certainly been causing a lot of havoc in North Carolina, and now in Virginia.  Thankfully, no loss of life has been reported so far.

Here in New England, some areas are a bit soggy from the thunderstorms that came through during the night.  So far, the rain has not made it to my little part of New England, but is expected later today.  Tomorrow we should be getting a lot wind and rain from what's left of Hurricane Arthur.  We'll just have to wait and see.

A lot of the local celebrations were pushed up to yesterday, or put off till the weekend.   Pogo and I opted to stay indoors last night and watch the festivities in Boston on TV.  The Boston Pops celebrations at the Esplanade was moved from tonight to last night because of the weather.  Near the end, the fireworks were moved up an hour earlier because of the thunderstorms headed toward Boston.

While Pogo barked at every boom! and clash!, I enjoyed the spectacular fireworks show.  It was awesome!  I had been crocheting while watching the TV, but once the fireworks started, I put my needle down to enjoy the whole show.

Folks, the other day I learned a lesson the hard way.  When you are cleaning out the spam from your comments folder, look at what is checked before you click "delete".   I wasn't paying close enough attention, and I erased 100 comments that I wanted to save.  You cannot get these back once they are deleted, so be careful.

So far, I am managing to get along with the new A/C, but that's all.  I've read the manual, and still have no clue about how to run it.  It seems to have no happy medium.  Either it is "on" or it is "off".   No matter what button you push, the machine sounds and runs the same.  Hmmmm, I wonder if this is some sort of trick to confuse me.

Well, this morning I have shut it off.  Oh, the quiet sounds beautiful!  It's getting a bit warm in here, but first I'll open the door to see if there is a breeze outside before turning the machine back on.  I will lick this thing yet!!

Last night I made a large pot of macaroni salad.  Mmmmmmmmm.  I can't wait to enjoy a bow of this!  Oh, oh.  Somehow I put in too much mayonnaise, and now it tastes awful!!!  I think my brains have become scrambled from all the heat.  Now I just have to decide whether to just dump the whole mess into the garbage and start over, or dump it and wait for another day to try again.

A peanut butter and jelly sandwich is starting to sound like a feast after this fiasco in the kitchen.  Hmmm, maybe that's what I'll have today.  A PB & J sandwich!

I found this adorable saying on the web and just have to share it with you.  Gosh, somehow it makes me think of my curious self.

Well, that's about all the news for this morning.  There's a beautiful breeze coming in from the screen door, and I'm going to sit in my chair near the door and enjoy that breeze while I drink my coffee.  So, till Sunday, Y'all have a fantabulous weekend.

Hugs, Edna B.

You could cook up more macaroni and add it to the salad until there isn't too much mayonnaise ... it would be a shame to waste all of that good food. Then take it out to the dwarfs and share it ... I'm guessing it will disappear in moments.

Air Conditioners ... cant' live with them, can't live without them. I agree with you they either aren't doing what they are supposed to do or it is too cold. There never seems to be a comfort zone ... Of course, my FH just says put on a sweater ... that's because the AC is set for his comfort zone and he claims it is easier to put more on than take more off ... that could be true, but I don't have to like it!

Our fireworks will be tonight. We can sit on our deck and see them from here and it is especially cool when they reflect in the lake ... but alas, the mosquitos will be out to enjoy them as well and that will drive us in the house ... perhaps to watch the Chicago version on TV. It is a day to celebrate our democracy and pray that we still have one when our grandchildren and watching on their deck. This day is bitter sweet for many who are losing their rights and their homes and their jobs. We all just seem to peek through the hole, like your little joke and get our eyes poked out instread of standing up for what we believe in. Enjoy your day, Edna and hold little Pogo close so he isn't frightened by the big booms of the day. Happy 4th ..

Perhaps Andrea's idea for the macaroni is the right thing to do.
But a peanut butter sandwich sunds good too LOL.
No matter how often you make the same
salad, it tastes every time different.
Weather here completely different of yesterday!
Yesterday warm, like a blanket covering you, Yesterday evening late started to rain, oh, that heled a bit, now several degerees lower temps, raining and much wind. Hmmm good day to do something about the backroom. Jan put the two racks together, so we can start organizing.
Hopefully you will find out why the AC is making such a noise! I hate AC, but sometimes it is necessary to have, I guess.
Enjoy your weekend, and Pogo would love to go to the beach a day, perhaps he can play a bit at the water edge?
Hugs
Kyra

I generally don't like cold sandwiches or salad, but when it's hot and humid like this they sure taste good.
