The Monsoon Went Kaplooey!

May 18, 2014

Good morning.  It is just lovely outside this morning.  I'm not sure what happened to the five days of rain that had been forecast, but I am surely not complaining.  We've had some rain showers here and there, but mostly sunny warm days.

Friday evening I went to see the premiere showing of the films that Jasmine's school class has made.  They've been working on the films for a few months, and finished two forty minute films as well as several short films.  I am not a movie buff, but I have to give the kids credit, they did a wonderful job on their films.  The audience was packed, and everyone was enjoying the show.

All of the performers in the films were dressed up in case the paparazzi showed up.  Here's a really nice photo of Jasmine (dark hair) and her best friend Shaelyn (blonde hair).  Aren't they just beautiful?  I shake my head and tell my daughter that they are growing up so fast.  In September, they will be in high school!  (note Jazzy's new glasses?)

I thought I'd show you a photo of some of the new yarn that I bought, and a little of what the BDafghan will look like when it is done.  This one is a pretty warm brown and a multi color to match.

I've been taking my smaller camera, the Canon SX50 HS, everywhere with me so that I can learn how to use it.  It really does take great photos, but there is so much I have to learn about it.  This morning before I left work, I took some photos of the moon.  This first photo is how it looked when I shot the photo.

And this next photo is the same photo, but I edited the color in Photoshop.  Under "Image" I clicked on "color", "contrast" and "tone".   It really brought out all the details.  Notice how bright the whole left side is?  That's from the sun that was shining brightly.

I do have lots of photos from the garden, but I'll spread them out throughout the week.  Also, yesterday the mail lady brought me another package.  Gosh!  I just love packages!  Inside was a beautiful photo book that Audrey and Mac and Wanda had put together of photos from the trip to Florida last March.  Kids, I love my book.  You did a fabulous job with it!!!

Here's a photo of the cover and an inside page of my beautiful new photo book.  They had it printed at Adoramapix.com.

Well, now I think I'd better change into my jammies and try to get some winks.  Tonight it's back to work again.  Last night, the Mrs behaved fairly well until about 4:20 a.m. this morning.  Then she started getting a bit feisty, but I was able to turn her mood around and talk her into going back to sleep.  So, on that note,  I'll see you tomorrow.  Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Good Sunday morning Miss Edna! I hope your day is sun shining and a happy day to be out and about. It is getting that way here now that the sun is finally out...so think I will do some work on the yard.
Just adore your colors of yarn, the moon photos are great, the yard critters and your cherry blossoms are too. So glad you got to see the movies and the book looks nifty, that is what I have been doing this weekend, putting one together for my niece Amy!
Well, off to see what trouble I can create. Have a blessed day! Hugs to you and Pogo! Mat

Less rain than forecast is nicer to live in and still good to the plants outdoors! I like the colors for the current afghan; they have a nice muted country-color look.

The girls look like high school girls already! I remember loving to look older, we all did, but now it’s a nicer compliment if someone thinks we look younger. Ah, the ironic nature of life!

I like your photobook form vacation! I looked at the site because I’m still looking for a place to get my scrapbooks printed now that the old place closed. Their prices are great for smaller books, but the extra pages just shoot the price for a scrapbook right up. I’m still going to keep it bookmarked; when I get all my Heritage Unit train pages done, I want to make a smaller book that’s just them.

Speaking of scrapping, I need to on my way to that since I slept in and pretty much shot the morning and want to get started before he afternoon is gone too!

Hugs, Nani

Jazz's glasses look nice on her. Emily has started wearing them also and it makes them look so much older...like they aren't growing up too fast already.
There's nothing funner than new yarn to play with! My quilt fabric arrived but I don't want to even open it until these dolls are done with.

Those girls look so prettyand happy! And yes, at some point kids seem to grow up in a terrible speed.
By the way, how is Kevin doing? Hopefully he has beaten the pneumonia.
What a lovely surprise, that photobook. It keeps the trip so much alive.
And that brown and multicolor of the the yarn is a pretty combination too!
I just finishe a part fo thext(p[robably afghan: and now want to try again a more complicated lace pattern.
Have an easy worknioght, hoping the Mrs, will behave and then you can enjoy some days of lovely weather.
Hugs

We got tons of rain. I think it has finally stopped. Yesterday it was beautiful. The girls are very pretty and all dolled up. Love the colors of the yarn. You keep busy.
