CONGRATULATIONS KEVIN

May 1, 2014

Good morning.  Well, it's still gray and damp outside, but I'm hoping that the sun will make an appearance later today.  DIL Janet came by yesterday afternoon and brought some new yarn with her to start an afghan.  It's going to be a medium purple, and my oh my is it ever pretty!

I started working on a hooded scarf, but the pattern is a bit tricky so it's going to take me a while to get enough done to take a photo of it.  Right now it is just long and thin.  After Janet left, I got all comfy in my lounge chair, ready to work on the blue afghan, and within thirty minutes I was fast asleep.

Getting a decent night's sleep was a good thing because tonight I have to go to work.  My friend at work needs the night off so I'm going to work for her.  In return, I will have Saturday night off and she will work for me.  It works out pretty good.

Yesterday, my youngest grandson Kevin got some fabulous news in the mail.  He was selected to attend the National Youth Leadership Form (NYLF) - Careers In National Security: Diplomacy, Intelligence & Defense.  It says in the letter: "Again, congratulations on your selection and outstanding achievements.  You have been identified as having exemplary leadership potential.  You have distinguished yourself as a standout among your peers at Brockton High School, and indeed throughout Massachusetts."

On top that news, Kevin also made the honor roll again, and sister Jasmine made it onto the school softball team.  Be still my heart!   These two continue to keep my heart puffed up with pride.  Tomorrow night is Kevin's junior prom, so I'm hoping to have a nice photo to post over the weekend.

For today, I do have a new page from my calendar to post.  Today is May Day, and with it comes beautiful memories of childhood, May Baskets and dancing around a May Pole.

I also have a couple of photos of the flowers in my little gardens near the house.  These were taken a couple of days ago just before the rain started.  Yellow is such a fun happy color.

Now it's time to rustle up some breakfast for Pogo.  He's been lying here next to me, waiting patiently for me to finish this post.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Oh that Pogo is a character, a creature of habit eh? LOL! What a cutie he is. My goodness, I was thinking I would never have had the pleasure of knowing you had we not participated in that swap with Suzanne! I am catching up this weekend. The grands are great kids! Awesome to be outstanding and also to be selected to participate in such an honor. Your grand girl too. I love sports so I am always rooting for the ladies to succeed! I miss my old neighbor Marilynn, we use to leave a May Day treat on each others front porch! Aw....she was a wonderful lady and I miss being her neighbor when we moved here. Have a good rest and enjoy your free time.

Lovely yellow plants, bright, sunshine yellow is my favorite color especially in roses...LOL! I wish I could garden more, but I can't so I have to settled for the "potted" garden and I just love lots of color around the outside of my home. Congrats to both Kevin and Jasmine, I know you are proud of the future leaders of this country!
Off to next post...HUGS!
