Guess Who Has A Birthday Coming Up!!

April 25, 2014

Good morning.  We have a couple of days of rain coming, but not until tonight.  Today the sun is shining, and it's a great day for planting.  Yesterday we did not get to plant anything because we ran out of day.  Joe says he will plant this afternoon after work.

I have a photo of the chrysanthemums that will be planted today.  Maybe there will be time to get all the plants in the ground.  That would be nice.  I'm just hoping that the cooler temps on the way in won't hurt any of the new plants.

Well, yesterday Helen and I found our way to the JoAnn's super store.  My goodness, it was a yarn heaven.  The only problem was the prices.  They were higher than the store closer to home.  I mentioned this to the salesperson, and was told that if I had a coupon they would honor it.  Unfortunately, we had no coupons with us.  I did not pick up any yarn for DIL Janet because with the higher prices, I thought it best to bring her to the store an let her pick out the yarn herself.

Next, we went into the Walmart next door.  Now their prices were better, but they did not have the selection.  However, I did find some yarn for my next afghan.  I thought that these two colors would look quite nice together.

The green afghan is getting quite big now, so I can take the blue combo with me to work on this weekend at work.  I think I only have about forty more rows to put on the green afghan to finish it off.  I'll say one thing, it sure is pretty and Springy.  I'll take a photo of it later to show you it's progress.

I am definitely planning on trying some new patterns, but for now I really like the pattern I am using.  It is easy to do (as long as I keep checking my stitch count) and it is toasty warm.  The whole thing is done with two strands of yarn.

On the way home from shopping, we stopped by a little seafood restaurant and picked up some dinners to take home with us.  We also stopped at Burger King to get a hamburger for Pogo.  My lunch was the scallop plate, and Helen got the clam plate.  Oh yum!!!

By now, it was almost time for Joe to come home from work, and them we were all going food shopping.  By the time we got home from the market, put away the groceries and made some supper the day was getting late and we were all too tired to go outside and plant.  But it was such a really nice day.

Today I have to get the laundry caught up so that I can go out in the yard this afternoon when Joe does the planting.  I also need to bag up the  trash and take it out to the barrel.  If I have any energy left after that, I might even disturb a few more dust bunnies.

Well, that's my news for today.  Till Sunday, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

p.s.  Guess who has a birthday coming up this Sunday?

Is it PoGo or your birthday. Spoiled little doggy getting a burger from Burger King. I like theirs because they are grilled. Sounds like a fun day for sure. A busy one. Is your yarn shop at home a Home town kind of store. If so, I would just buy the yarn there or have them order it for you. Joanne's should be cheaper since it is bigger store. Happy Birthday to someone, hah.

It is Pogo's Birthday ... are planning a party for him? What can you possibly give him when he is already getting Burger King for no special occasion ... you make me laugh. I have a friend who buys pie for dessert at the restaurant and then takes it home and feeds it to her dogs. Izzi doesn't get desserts but we do eat popcorn together while we watch TV.

Oh you are so lucky to be ready to plant flowers. I haven't even been able to clear all of my flower beds yet ... you should send me Joe, I could use his help.

We did meet with the Queen and had a grand time. There was a lot of laughter, as you probably would expect, since you have already met her. It was fun and since there were three of us it was even funnier. Being old is fun, you don't have to apologise for your behavior ... just say, what did you expect, I'm old :)

I hate to cut this short, but Izzi is frantically ringing the bell. That can only mean one thing ... Have a nice evening, Edna ...

You had a marvellous day, I think! Pity that the prices of yarn were a bit high in the craft store.
But even if Walmart hasn't that bigvariety to choose from, you still can find some pretty one there.
The blue combo looks wonderful!
Those chrysanthemums also look wonderful and so springy.
I think they will do well even with the yoyo of the weather. Just keep picking out the dead flowerheads, than they will flower for ever so long!
Yummie, your seafood plate.
Have to be a bit quick today, because we want to get out for the "King'\s day"today not too late. For now the weather looks wonderful, lots of blue sky and sunshine, hopefully it stays so for the whole day.
Have a wonderful day.
Hug

Hmm, a year ago you were working on a recipe for a hamburger birthday cake and planning a party. :D Happy birthday to Pogo from me and his three feline blog-pals!

The variegated blues yarn is lovely and just thinking about a double-strand afghan makes me feel all toasty. I hadn't even thought about that. The really warm scarf I made I did with a smaller hook so the threads were closer together, but I bet the double-yarn get same effect for warmth without being as stiff.

Hope the rain holds off until you get the mums in the ground. Have fun with birthday festivities tomorrow!

Hugs, Nani

On your smart phone you can load an app for Joanne's coupons. You just show them the barcode on the phone, no need to print anything. This is also available for Hobby Lobby and Michaels....and probably everywhere else, those are just the ones I use the most.

You all guessed right. Pogo will be eight years old tomorrow. No big party, just us and the dwarfs, but I will make a hamburg cake.

Thanks QJ for the info about the phone aps. I did not know that. Y'all have a great day, hugs, Edna B.
