Oh Boy, It's Cold!!

February 7, 2014

Good morning.  It's six o'clock a.m. and I'm at work.  My friend needed the night off and offered to work next Sunday night for me if I could work last night for her.  A very good swap for me because we are expecting more snow for Sunday night into Monday, and I don't want to go out in the snow.

The Mrs was a bit cranky last night, but I think it's from being cooped up in the house for so long.  She would like to get out once in a while, but it has just been too cold for that.  I told her that as soon as it warms up enough, I will try to get her outside once in a while.

It is quite cold outside right now.  The thermometer is only reading around 7F degrees.  Brrrrr.  I just stepped outside for a moment to get a photo of the huge bright star (most likely a planet) that is shining in the sky.   Soon it will be daylight and I won't be able to see this again until tonight.

In a few minutes, I'm going to go outside and start my car to warm it up.  After that, I shall head on home.  Today I need to work on my taxes a bit more.  Last night after the Mrs was asleep, I was able to get quite a bit of my tax stuff added up.  Now I just have to put things in order and match up receipts to the figures.  This is the part that takes quite a while.  Sighhhhhh, I wish I could just wiggle my nose and make this stuff disappear.

I did not have a chance to watch any of the Olympics last night, but I imagine there will be repeats today.  I enjoy watching the figure skating and the couples skating.   I'm hoping that the sickies in the world can behave themselves long enough for our athletes to enjoy this special time.

It's time now for me to check the Mrs again before I pack up to go home.  Here are a few more of my birdie photos from Wednesday.

Well that's it for this morning.  Till Sunday, Y'all stay warm and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Good swap I think at work, if you will have more snow on Sunday!
There are always re-runs of the events of the Olympics so you will have a chance to see the things you like.
Yes i like figure skating too and there is a new element there for first: a country game.
From several countries they must have a man-and women skater, a figure skating couple and an ice-dance skating couple and they will add the results of all the four together and best will win.Interesting!
Today is speedskating yeah! But also real soon the figura skating is starting, I believe.
Good luck with finishing all needed for the taxes, then have a good nap and a lovely weekend!
Hugs

Good afternoon, quick stop to catch up on all I missed this week, I swear I do not know where the time goes lately...you would think that being retired means lots of free time...not for me! LOL! We've had a nasty spell of weather, now all melting today..for another bout to start on Tuesday again. So tired of this yo-yo...want to break the string! LOL! Awesome photos, especially those of Audrey's tree line. Great page for Pogo, Kyra is so very talented and so very generous and giving. Well, gotta get off here, the Olympic events are starting in about 30 minutes...so gotta get ready for them. Stay warm and safe and have a fabulous weekend. Hugs to you and Pogo.

Love your Junco's ... funny my Junco's rarely go to the feeders ... they tend to be ground feeders. Therefore, I don't get good shots like you have of them flying by the feeder. Awesome job Edna.

Now I have to tell you, I am still laughing about your QJ entry ... It was so cute and so funny. I loved it. You are certainly creative.

I have been chasing my tail all week. We have had more furnace problems and today, finally, they are putting in a new furnace. So cross your fingers, I figure if we get a new furnace it will probably get warm, right?

I have the birds back here because my friend was trying to go to Florida again, only this time she missed her flight because the roads were so bad the Limo didn't get her there in time. That is two times now (if you remember the first time her flight was canceled because of weather). Anyway I still have the birds and I am also caring for the cats across the street, so I find I am not having much time left for my usual stuff.

Tomorrow we are celebrating my daughter and and my sons birthdays so I will be cooking up some stroganoff and we will proably sit and watch the Olympics while we eat cake and ice cream. Not good for the diet, but I can stray now and then without too much damage. I am hoping to get back to a good comfortable size before I go to Switzerland this summer. I still don't know when we are going ... we are waiting for her friends to let us know what a good time for them is.
It is snowing here again ... I don't know how much we are expecting because I didn't stay up for the news last night. It really doesn't matter, we have so much snow now that another few inches isn't going to make much difference. This has indeed been a long winter. I don't blame the Mrs. for being cranky ... even Izzi is frustrtated because it is too cold for her to stay out long enough to do anything but take care of business. It is probably good that we have to go out for that because Izzi has so much energy that she needs to burn off now and then. Pogo is lucky he doesn't have to go out ... that was good planning on your part. Well, better go get some things done and check on the progress of the furnace. You have a nice weekend, Edna and Izzi says Woof to Pogo. Have you worn your Pogo necklace?

Oh, all the snow is just crazy! We got 7.3 inches that started Tuesday night and ended Wednesday afternoon. We had a few flakes in the air today with a possible half inch by tonight and I can't even look outside, I’m just so done with it. You say the Mrs. is a bit grumpy about being cooped up and I feel her pain! (And I'm sure David feels yours!) :) When there's so much snow it can't be plowed all the way down to driveway catching the bus is fishtailing all the way down the drive for me. My power chair does NOT have "6-wheel drive" but it should! Difficulty “driving” to the bus means a lot more days in the house. Bleh.

David is working out his spring vacation time so we may go away for a long weekend or a week soon. I can’t wait for that. I need the change of scenery to photograph and scrap!

I agree with the “ugh” for taxes but I just got the receipt from the auction for the Camaro so that’s a nice deduction to add and I’m pleased with the donation it made to the MS Society. It was probably more than I could have gotten trying to sell it.

Stay safe and stay warm and dream about Florida!

Hugs, Nani
