Oh Boy, More Snow Coming!

January 21, 2014

Good morning.  Brrr, the cold temps are back, and a lot of snow is expected to be back shortly.  One weatherman says we're getting 5-8 inches, and another says we're getting 8-12 inches.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.  The other day we were supposed to get a dusting, and there was six inches of snow all around my car.  We just never know what to expect.

I think I'm starting to go "cold" crazy..  This cold is taking so long to leave my body, and I'm getting bored.  I don't really have the energy to do a lot of things that I could be doing, so lately I've picked up my knitting again.

The "pink thing" that I've been working on once in a while over the last few years is growing, however I still don't know what it will be when it finally grows up.  When I first started working on it, my hands were starting to hurt, so I only pick it up every once in a while.  I'm sure it is full of all sorts of mistakes, but Pogo doesn't seem to care.  He loves it.  It is soft and fuzzy and warm.

I bought me a new book of Granny Square patterns, so I think this year, I will take my crochet hooks and some yarn with me to Florida.  I usually like to pack up one of my craft projects and mail it on ahead to myself a week before I leave for vacation.  This way, it is waiting there for me, and I don't have to worry about carrying it in my suitcase.

I don't like to pack anything other than clothes in my suitcase, because baggage handlers seem to always to pick my suitcase to open.  They break, and keep sometimes, the little lock.  One would think that their fabulously smart xray system would pick up any bad stuff they are looking for hidden away in my socks and undies.    However, some of their employees insist on breaking the little locks and rifling through the clothes.

This makes it just a bit more difficult for me because then I have to carry all of my valuables in my carry on.  Add to this, Pogo with his carry case and stroller, my suitcase and my purse.  I have a lot to carry before I reach the check in and the wheel chair.  However, I manage, and I will keep on as long as I can.

All of this reminds me that I need to start booking our flights.  After that, I need to decide on which carry case Pogo will use this year.  I will also have to figure out how to downsize my carry on case.  Every smaller adjustment helps.  Last year, I left the stroller at home, but then it wasn't as much fun for Pogo.  This year I believe we will take it with us.

Enough of my babbling, it is time to find a little mischief to get into.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I don't know what you're knitting, but it looks fuzzy and fun.
Sure hope your cold goes away soon, you've been battling this way too long.

I’m sure the cold and looking at the snow doesn’t help your spirits push that could on out of you either! Come to think of it, if I were a virus, I’d rather stay in a nice warm body than be pushed out into the snow too! Keep doing what's necessary to evict it!

We had 1.6” overnight. We needed 1.5” to break the record for the most snowfall in any one month, any of them, for Toledo and there are 10 days left for the month! It’s been crazy here too. They were close to accurate about that first huge storm, almost as close with the second and have been spot-on about how terribly cold it would be and then how warm to start melting the next weekend. But they’ve been off their game the last few smaller snows. We always get an inch or two more than forecast. I still want to hibernate.

Maybe Pogo wants the “pink thing” to be a doggy-sweater or a blanket? :)

Just a thought, but couldn’t you ship Pogo’s stroller with your other things? Then he’ll have it for everything but the airport and getting to/from the condo to there. If he didn’t have it at all last year, it might work. I can’t even imagine what flying would be like for me now! I do think it might be worth it to shell out the money for a parataxi to the airport and be able to take my power chair if I was going to another city with public transportation. That might be fun. :) You know I just live vicariously through you planning your trip and going to Florida at this time of year, right? Keep planning out loud, my friend!

Okay, now I really am going to fix my lunch.

Hugs, Nani

Well, I can see that you knit the way I do ... only occasionally and with many mistakes. And, like you, what I end up with is always a surprise, never what I thought I was starting out with.

Oh boy, you are planning your Florida trip already. That must mean that winter is flying by even though it is being cruel in the process. I am not good at packing for trips. I always take much too much and don't use half of it. My friend that I am going to Switzerland with this summer went to Italy two year ago with a small carry on and a backpack and stayed for two weeks. I don't know if I can even get close to that ... I will have to ask her what her secret is.

I like Pogos fuzzy wuzzy look. Of course, he is cute no matter what. Izzi, on the other hand gets a ragamuffin look when she isn't brushed or groomed. She is about due, but I will wait until the weather breaks because the extra fur is good for helping her stay warm. Speak of Izzi ... it is too cold for the Frisbee again so we are taking short walks and she is waiting patiently for me to get done here so we can go. You have a nice restful day ... or maybe not. Have a busy tiring day so you can sleep tonight ... Be well, Edna ...

Oh that knitting looks so soft and warm and very pretty. I wish I had the talent. Drat! Snow coming tonight into Thursday! Sigh! I wish Spring lasted as long as Winter! I am not liking the fact that I have to drive in it! I hope you and Pogo stay nice and toasty indoors and take care. Hugs, Anne

That damned cold of yours! We have to find a way to chase it away and also that it stays away for a long, long time!
Missing you on my blog comments, hopefully it is not a sign you are really feeling bad, perhaps only a bit too tired??? And even that isn;t a good thing, sweetie.
re you sure it is just a virus that hangs on? Could another visit to your doctor be helpfull? May be you need a thorough check of your whole body( I know, it is boring and time consuming)and perhaps you need another medicine?
I am getting a little worried, because it takes so long!
However good to see to take your knitting project on again LOL.
When finally finished you have lots of possibilities for the thing for it's use, I am sure.
You take care and try to do all that is necessary to get and feel better soon.
Perhaps yur planning for your Florida trip could help.
Be well, my friend and stay safe and warm, and comfy!
