Getting A Late Start Today

January 28, 2014

Good afternoon.  My goodness, I ran out of morning.  I admit that I slept late this morning, but finally Pogo insisted that I get up and get his breakfast.  I did, and since then have brought in (and opened) the mail, made a cup of coffee,  cleaned Pogo's potty patch, read some emails and done a bit of blog reading.  I do get side tracked easily.

Last night there wasn't much on TV to watch so I put on the Jewelry TV channel, and have been giving my eyes a real treat.  Some of the designs and gem colors are just so beautiful.  No, I did not call in and buy anything, but oh my I was tempted.  Sort of.  I don't really need any more jewelry.  But I do love to look at it.

There was one segment that I found very disappointing.  It was Artisan Crafted jewelry from Israel.  Some of the gems used were lovely, but the mountings and ring bands looked very unprofessional.  They were ragged and looked like a children's class had produced them.  It's possible that many folks like this sort of jewelry, but I like mine to look a bit more cleaned up.

There was one item that I did like.  It was a little bottle with a prayer rolled up inside, and it hung from a silver chain.  I found this item quite beautiful and charming.  I also liked the blue druzy gemstones, just not the mountings.

Later today I will have to go outside and (attempt to) start my car.  If it starts, I'll let it run, drive it back and forth a bit in the driveway and then shut it down.  First chance I get, I want to get to Sears, and buy me a Diehard battery.  I'm thinking that Hyundai puts cheap batteries in their cars.  When you consider the price tag on the cars, I would think that a good battery should be included.

If it doesn't start, well let's not even think that!!!  After that is accomplished, I may just curl up in my lounge chair and knit on the pink thing for a while.  Right now, it is about 28 inches long and 44 inches wide.  So, I still have quite a way to go before it will become a lap blanket.  About 22 more inches.

Enough babble.  I found this adorable photo on the web and thought it was worth sharing.  Isn't this baby just adorable?

And here's another cute cartoon that I also found on the web.  As soon as I saw it, I thought of my friends who live in the central and northern states.

Now I  think it's time to put on my warm jacket and see about the car situation.  Till tomorrow, Y'all be warm and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I don't know what your temperatures are, but here if you go outside you need multiple layers and I have even been putting vasoline on my face and Izzi's nose to protect it. Your cartoon says it all, except after I am out for more than a few minutes my face starts to burn. Izzi's does not apparently because she is not in as big of a hurry to get back in as I am. We do only stay out long enough to take care of business, but as you know business involves much sniffing and searching for the right spots.

Our sub zero weather is supposed to last until tomorrow when it will start to gradually get warmer ... like above zero. But, as everything is relative, that is warmer. I am staying in ... I will go to the store tomorrow and my list keeps getting longer and longer. It will turn into quite a shopping trip just to get us back to good food around the house level.

Your car sits outside so it is not unusual for the battery to go. You should try to have one of the dwarfs start it and run it every day. My car is in a garage so I haven't had a problem so far. I will cross my fingers that it starts for you.

Love the baby sitting on the computer ... looks like he was reading somebody's blog and got bored and fell asleep ... hope it wasn't mine:) Well, my stomach is telling me that it is time for lunch so I am headed downstairs to grab a bite to eat. I will check in on you tomorrow to see if the car started ... Good lucK!!!

Hmmm, she's eyeing up jewelry on TV again - a sure sign she's recovering.

Oh my that’s the exact same temperature here! :)

I know what you mean about jewelry! Some of the currently stylish is just so…gaudy, clumsy looking? I love my simple wedding ring with what some would call a small diamond. I’ve seen huge cocktail-ring sized engagement rings. (shakes my head) But I’m not the scream and yelol about being married either. We call it being secure in our relationship, but to each his/her own, right? A lot of people want their rings to be conversation pieces so they can brag about their partner, that’s okay too. I like to wear a minimum of three bracelets layered because they’re fun, but I like simpler things that work well together. Still, congrats for not being tempted, today, By the ones you liked!

I hope the battery switching is the solution for your car woes!
Take care and stay as warm as possible!

Hugs, Nani

Sure thing you are feeling again somewhat better, as you watched the jewelry channel LOL!
Pain in the a....... that battery of your car.
Might be a good idea to start up your car every day for a moment, but it is a shame you have perhaps buy you another battery for it.
But don't forget to wrpa yourself in warm clothes, even if you will have to be out for a little while!
Enjoy your day
