Photo Manipulation

December 28, 2013

Good morning.  It's  gray and cold outside, but then it's early yet.  Actually, I just looked out my window and the sun is beginning to shine across the roof tops across the street.  That is good because in a little while, I have to get dressed and head out to the supermarket to do a bit of food shopping.

First I thought I would show you how to have some fun with a rather bad, uninteresting photo.  I had posted this manipulated photo last winter around the first of the year, but we have a few new readers here and I thought it would be fun to explain how it was done.  First, here is the original photo with no touch ups, just an arrow showing the portion of the photo that I am using.

First I cropped this section from the photo, then lightened it a bit.  Then I cleaned up some of the bits of dirt that showed in the snow.

Next, I went to Google images, and found me some Polar Bears and placed them in my photo.  At this point, you can tweak the light/dark and the sharpness to how you like it best.

Viola!  Now that little bit of snow on the ground next to the house has been transformed into a scene that could have been photographed in Alaska.  So don't throw out all of your "not so good" photos.  Some of them can be turned into some really pretty photo art.

There really isn't much news this morning, and I really must get busy here.  I have to get the shopping done and be back way before my appointment at the nail salon at 1:30.  So till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Oh my Edna! You are such a whiz with this photo play! I am technically challenged. Still can't figure out how to add my name to my own photos! LOL!
Love what you did here. We are expecting some snow later today! Brr....
Enjoy and stay warm with that sweet lil Pogo! He is such a precious lil fellow. Give him a lil hug for me!
Hugs, Anne

I thought the snow looked like clouds from an airplane window. Pretty stuff. Like the polar bears huddling.

You are the clever one ... I love what you did. I actually did something similar for MOM this week ... you'll see it tomorrow. I love Polar Bears ... I hate that they have to die of starvation because of man's mettling. We will never learn until we start killing ourselves off ... Wait, aren't we already doing that? Oh my ...

I too am off to the grocery store. My Granddaughter is here ... well, not here today. She came last night and then went off shopping and to dinner with her Dad (which is as it should be) and then off galavanting with her friend tonight ... Hay wait a minute, what about Grandma and Grandpa? Oh well, I can remember when I was that age ... chances are I would have been doing the same things. I'll wait until she gets a little older, then she will settle down and come to see us. Do I seem to be crabby? Perhaps I am ... better go to the store before I get obnoxious :) You and Pogo enjoy your day ...

Not much going on here either. We had a rather pretty day yesterday, not too cold, even some sunshine, just a bit windy, but even that wasn;t really bad.
Today looks a bit the same, I think I will do some laundry, waiting in the machine, that isn;t too much work, but needed.
Your manup with the polar bears looks fun!
Have a great day!
