It's Mandarin Orange Monday

December 09, 2013

Oh yuk!!  The snow finally caught up to us.  It snowed through a good part of the night, leaving a light coating of white stuff everywhere.  Sometime this morning it's supposed to start raining.  Today and tomorrow will be a mix of rain and/or snow.  I can't complain too much because I've been watching the Weather Channel, and they've been showing how really bad it is in other parts of the country.

(I took this photo as I was leaving work.  It has been raining for a while, so a lot of the snow is already gone.)

Well, yesterday I did not get my Christmas tree decorated.   Instead, I mainly had a rather lazy day.   Today I will dig out the ornaments and get my tree done.  I also have a few cards left to address and put in the mail.  These are the ones that I had to check on address changes.  After that, I want to finish wrapping everything for my last mailer boxes.  These need to be in the mail by mid week.

It looks like I may have to work on Christmas Eve, but first I need to make sure I have a sitter for Pogo.   Also, I need to make sure that someone will be coming in on Christmas morning at 7 a.m. to relieve me so that I can go home on time.

Today is Mandarin Orange Monday, and I have been playing around with a photo of my amaryllis from last Winter.  I did not write down all the steps that I used, but there is quite a mixture of layers, filters, textures, colors and a gradient.   I am not really into the grunge look, but it might make a pretty fabric pattern.

The Mrs has another beautiful new plant.  It's a huge, gorgeous red poinsettia.   I love these plants, but they are poisonous to animals so I wouldn't want one at home.

Well, I think that's about it for this morning.  Pretty soon, I need to be packing up my stuff and getting ready to go home.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I think your MOM picture is gorgeous ... I like orange and I assume I don't mind grunge if that is what your picture is ... very cool.

I have been so busy and continue to be. I am trying to catch up with Christmas and now with the snow I have to shovel ... I shoveled yesterday before it was finished ... dumb! So now I will have to go out and do it again. Maybe it won't be too bad since it is the second time around.

My Agility group had their Christmas party last Saturday ... they are really a fun group. A lot of laughter, good food and drink ... if you drink.

This week my goal is to get any packages I need to mail wrapped and out of here. Then I can focus on home. Like you I haven't approached the Christmas tree yet. My granddaughter won't be here for Christmas this year, so we are going to just put up a small tree.

Well, Izzi is ringing her bell. She does't have to go potty, she just wants to go out to play in the snow. It takes me about ten minutes to get myself dressed warm enough to take her out. I have to stay out with her for awhile and then I have to drag her in ... she doesn't get cold and she loves the snow. Better get myself going. You have a great day Edna ... Hugs to the Pogo from Izzi. Tell Pogo, our neighbor dog is little like him and he doesn't like the snow much either. Poor Izzi has to play alone :)

You have a nicer dusting than we do! There is still brown grass and mud showing with the new snow and ice pellets. We decided not to put up the tree until we get home form CT’ tree up and unsupervised kitten who likes to climb things is not a good combination.

I’m not really into the grunge look much either, but I could definitely see your MOM as a square in a very sweet quilt!

My mom used to have dozens of poinsettias at Christmastime. Our Collie, Missy was never interested in them and we kept a close eye on her when she was in the house. She had a warm garage at night and was pretty much an outdoor girl, her choice, she came in when she wanted to, but that was mostly in the winter. (I don’t think she liked the air conditioning either!) It was rougher to keep her out of the chocolate ornaments, not good for her either, but not as dangerous as a “poison-setta” Our cat, Azzie preferred ribbon plants and wasn’t into getting into things much after she got sick. I never had real poinsettias in the house when Kaline was in Michigan. We have a couple of nice silk ones though!

Hope the melting snow, and part of the rain, will not freeze onto the road when it gets a bit colder. Then you will have a very tricky, slippery road and I don;t want you to be on it!
Oh, not so nice if you'll have to work on Christmas Eve, but okay, it can happen, but you are right that you first should have a baby sitter for Pogo.
If not, perhaps you can persuade the Mrs, she gives permission you take him with you??
Anyway, be careful when you're out, riding or walking, we don;t want you to have an accident of any kind!!
Hugs
