A Little Burst Of Energy, Woo Hoo!

November 20, 2013

Good morning.  I've been up for a few hours, and it seems like I've done a days work already.  I made breakfast for Pogo and me, and had a cup of coffee.  Then I addressed and signed more Christmas cards, stuffed them into envelopes and stamped them.  Next I wrapped and addressed a few items that are going out in mailer envelopes.

From here I went into the bedroom and set up the card table, sorted already bought presents into piles, and managed to get a couple wrapped and into mailer boxes.  Phew!!!  I need to sit for a while so I've just made a second cup of coffee to enjoy while I post here on my blog.  How does the coffee taste?  It doesn't matter anymore.  It is written that coffee tastes good, so it does.

Getting back on my feet is taking much longer now.  I'm not liking this too much.  My mind gets these fabulous bursts of energy, but the body doesn't seem to be able to catch up with the mind.  If this slowing down is one of the perks of the "Golden Years", then it is a sucky one!

No one ever told me that growing old was such a task.  My mother never said anything; my friends and neighbors, no one ever even gave me a hint.  I wonder why this is.  We go into adulthood with absolutely no knowledge of two of the most important parts of our lives.  No one told us how to be a parent. or how to get around all the molehills of aging.  Interesting!

Don't misunderstand.  I am very grateful to have reached this delicate stage of my life,   Every day that I wake up is a very good day.  I am surrounded by beauty and love, family and friends.  I still have my mind and can do many of the things that I enjoy.  So, even though these Sunset Years can be quite sucky at times, they are also quite good and I'm glad to have them.

Yesterday the mail brought me a wonderful package, my two newest blog books, parts 1 & 2 of this year.  I did a lot more chatting and posted more photos so this year has to be broken into three books.  Gosh, they are just wonderful!  Here's a photo to show you how nice they look.

I've changed the front covers of the books, and now use a photo from that period, and Pogo is on the back covers.

I really love these blog books.  If any of you think you might like to make one of your blog, look up Blog2Print on SharedBook.com.  You can get soft covers or hard covers (I get the hard covers) and you can include or exclude whatever you wish.  They are really wonderful to leave for your family.

Daughter Deanne sent me a photo taken with her phone of a clipping in the local newspaper.   This was an event from last year at their City Hall called Santa Hat Day.  Hundreds of the townsfolk came out wearing Santa hats.  The photo is like a "Where's Waldo" picture.  Deanne calls this one "Where's The Family".   I've put a circle around Dee and her family.

Now I'm going to rest a while and finish drinking this "coffee".   Even the juice tastes rather weird, but I drink it anyway.  Till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

So you kind of skirted the issue of how the coffee really tastes ... that is the measure of your wellness, ya know. It does seem like you are on track given all of the energy bursts ... even if your body is lagging behind, a brain burst is a good thing:)

I love how your books look. I am going to do that down the road ... we have had this conversation so you know what my plans are. Your family will love having those for years to come.

I love the picture of everyone with their Santa Hats ... how much fun they must have had. I know my son and Granddaughter often wear Santa hats at Christmas. Don't know if we will even have our Granddaughter here for Christmas ... she is so busy and preoccupied with a boyfriend now. Grandmas, Grandpas and even parents lose standing when there is a boyfriend ... I'm sure you recall that when you were that age. I do miss her though ... a lot.

I am picking up my Christmas Cards today ... see that, I actually did get something done. I am way behind on the shopping though. Have to be very careful about what I spend ... as you know. So I will be very careful to get just a few, but very special, gifts. Anyway, I have to run ... have things to accomplish today and my printer just stopped communicating with my computer. Does it ever end? I had just printed two pictures and sent a third and zap it was gone. Hair pulling time!!! So anyway, you and Pogo have another productive, but restful day. Stick with the OJ, it's good for what you have ... that and rest. Be well, my friend ...

So glad you are at least having energy boosts again. Sorry little Pogo got sick, but maybe he was having sympathy for you...glad it dis not last long.
I love my Blog2Print books, I have slacked off some in my posting this year, but will get mine printed again this year too, they do a great job and I adore your front and back pages...I do mine in soft sides using the same color scheme but different photos on front and back too! LOL!
Great photos of the leaves, I wish ours were in color as they dance down my driveway, but the oak tree only sheds dried brown leaves, I do have some golden yellow ones in the back yard, but no pretty red or orange leaves.
Well, off here to get some things done, thanks for stopping in and I will chat more with you next time.
Have a terrific rest of the week.
Hugs, Mat

Your blog books look lovely. I need to consider this at some point.
Make sure your bursts of energy don't get you overtired again while you are still recovering.
Take care my friend.

You do sound already a lot better. But don't get kind of reckless now! It;s a good thing you were able to do a couple of things, but don;t overdo it, your body still needs more rest than you probably think. Ahhhh, where are those years we could go on for days when we had to do a project?
Great that photo with all people wearing a Santa hat!

All together I am glad you are feeling better every day, and that Pogo is okay again too!
Take care, do take it still a bit easy on yourself!!
