I Just Love That Wayne!!!

October 15, 2013

Good morning.  First let me say that my PC guru, Wayne, is a huge blessing in disguise.  He came by after work yesterday evening, and after about thirty minutes he found the problem on my laptop and was able to retrieve all my lost files.  I was so excited, I plunked a big kiss on his beautiful bald head!   My Hero!!

It seems that the culprit was the touchpad on the laptop.  I use a mouse, and hadn't yet had a chance to go into the control panel and shut off the touchpad.  If any part of your hand touches the pad while you are typing or trying to click on something, everything goes crazy and whatever you were trying to touch or click on disappears to some unknown place.   The solution is to shut of the pad immediately after turning the PC on.

I used to have the touchpad turned off permanently, but then one day my mouse died and I could not get into my PC.  I'm beginning to think that the PC gods don't really like me all that much.  I'm just so grateful that I have Wayne in my life.  I'm one crazy old lady when something bad happens on or to my PC.

About thirty minutes after I got home yesterday morning, the carpet cleaning crew showed up at my door.  Pogo and I were exiled to the main house for a an hour an a half while the carpets and the sofa were being cleaned.  I had previously bought new slippers so that I could walk on the carpets while they were still a bit damp.

Once everything was quite again, Pogo and I curled up in my lounge chair and had us a nap.  When we awoke, there were two parcels waiting that had been delivered while we slept.  Oh joy, oh joy!  The packages contained my new calendars and Christmas cards, and some Christmas gifts that I had ordered.

Yesterday was also Mandarin Orange Monday, and I'm a bit late but here is my entry.  It is a close up of another of the Mrs' beautiful floral arrangements.

Sunday  night, I had worked on a rather pretty Quick Page, made mostly from an assortment of Kyra's kits.  You will find all the kit names listed on the TOU.  I call this QP "Dreamin'".

Here is the download link:

Kyra has so many fun and beautiful kits on her blog, and they are all free.  Treat yourself and visit her blog.  Take your cup of coffee with you and say "hello" while you are there.  You'll surely be so pleased.

I got an email from Dutch Sparky informing me that we will be having the Worldwide Christmas Scrapbooking Freebies again this year on December 1at..  I know it may seem a bit early to be thinking of the upcoming holidays, but they will be here before we know it.  This will be fun and exciting to look forward to.

More good stuff to look forward to are the new windows that I ordered last Friday.  My house is old and big with lots of windows.  I got a good price, and ordered nine of them.  They should be coming in about three weeks.  Hopefully, in the Spring, I'll be able to replace a few more.  This is a photo of my house.  Not showing are the windows on the back and the other side of the house.

Today, Pogo and I will have us a nice quiet lazy day, just to give the carpets one more day to be completely dried.  I had them scotch guarded and deodorized on top of the cleaning, so they may need the extra drying time.  Actually, they feel pretty good now, but I will wait the extra day before putting things back in place.

It's time now to check the mailbox.  Maybe there will be some more goodies in it.  After that, I think maybe I'll play on my laptop for a while.  (Have to make up for not being able to use it all day yesterday.)  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

YAY, Wayne! Boo touchpad! My setting may be a Windows 8 thing, which if it is, that’s one thing I do like about Windows 8. I have it set so that if my computer detects an external mouse, it deactivates the touchpad. If my mouse dies, I unplug the transmitter and the touchpad reactivates. But like I said, I don’t know if it’s a Windows 8 or a Dell thing. I suspect it’s Windows 8 though. When I read yesterday’s post I had a feeling a main folder must have got hidden, at least that what I was hoping for you!

I don’t think it’s so early for Christmas planning at all! Sign-ups started for the Secret Santa Soiree; are you joining this year? I signed up. If I can join the Christmas Scrapbooking Freebies I’d like to do that too. Giving and sharing I always fun and the holidays seems to put extra “glitter” on the gesture.

I’m getting ready for (late) breakfast, I guess brunch, David is cooking! (I’m SO spoiled sometimes) You and Pogo have a great last day!

Hugs, Nani

I'm with you ... who would have guessed the touch pad could swallow up everything on your computer ... naughty Touch Pad! I think all of us should send Wayne a big kiss on his bald head as he has rescued our favorite Blogger ... and all is well again, thanks to him. Kisses, Kisses, Wayne!

I did call you this morning and left a message. Don't know where you were, maybe sleeping in the chair with Pogo. Anyway, I had told you I would warn you when I was calling and I didn't so that is fine. I will call again tomorrow around 10 or 11 (11 or 12 at your place) and you can get me started on my project that you have already completed and have back ... boy am I late :(

It is raining here today so no yard work to do. I went back out to shop for the things I couldn't get yesterday because Izzi's store was closed (Either because it was Monday or because it was Columbus day ... I forgot to ask today). Izzi is not a happy camper today ... when it rains she doesn't get to go out as much as she would like. I do have to take her out for necessities, but we don't stay out long. I don't like getting wet then coming in and feeling damp and cold. Don't know what the rest of the week will bring, but I have all kinds of stuff on my plate, so the weather isn't going to matter much. Hope you are enjoying your extra day at home ... when do you go back to work? I am going down to read my book for a few minutes before the gang comes clammering to the kitchen for another round of eats. You have a nice evening on your nice clean carpets, Edna ...

Oh so glad you got your laptop fixed. Sometimes it is something simple, thank goodness.
U bet you house is so nice and clean and organized. Yes, you have lots of windows. We need new ones so bad. We will have to wait til next year to start replacing.
Don't you love a good nap. I couldn't fall asleep last night.....I think I finally did around 4 a.m. So today I took a short nap with both doggies on my lap.

As I mailed you before, I am so happy for you that all is back on your laptop. That Wayne is just a miracle, isn;t he??
Never really got a good look at your house before, I think. It's a beautiful one, I just love it, but can imagine it's hard to keep it in good shape. Glad you had a good price for the new windows. That stuff is always sooo expensive. It;s great to have a house of your own, but it isn;t always so easy, cause the maintenance of it can be pricey!
You have a wonderful day, hopefully without anymore stress or strange things happening LOL!

I'm so relieved to hear your laptop is okay. Mine went all wonky yesterday and I needed to restart it in Safe Mode and I feared I was going to be in the same boat as you! But it seems fine now, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I love the scrapbook download she created- this is my favorite by far. I downloaded it and might have to put a photo of a sleeping cat in there. I've never tried doing anything like that before.
Your house is lovely and even larger than I imagined.
