Choosing A New Prescription Plan

October 26, 2013

Good morning.  Well, last night was a pretty decent sleeping night too.  After a busy day, doing goodness knows what, it felt good to shut my peepers for several hours at a time.  It was a busy day, although looking back I don't really see what I was busy at.

I think  the most time consuming thing that I accomplished yesterday was to choose a new prescription plan for 2014, and get enrolled into the new program.  This is not such an easy  thing to do because there is very little help for seniors explaining the plan differences and prices.  Most of the online sites require too much pertinent information about you before they will give you a quote.

Supposedly there is someone at the Senior Center to help with this, but that person is not available until November 26.  Duh!  The cut off date for choosing another plan is December 7.  It took me several phone calls during the week, and an hour on the phone yesterday to get this little project done.

Today, the workmen are back outside working on the house.  At this rate, they will be finished probably by Tuesday.  Also, the new windows will be in by Tuesday.  It will be nice when everything is done.  Come next Spring, maybe I can replace a few more windows.  My goal is to replace all the windows.

I went into my photo archives, and dug out some photos that I took one year ago today.  These are ones that I took from the Mrs' bedroom window.

Photographing the birds is what I miss most about not going to work.  The Mrs' yard is quite large, and she gets quite a variety of birds there year round.  I'm hoping that later today I can go outside and  take a few new photos of whatever is still blooming in my garden.

There isn't much for news this morning, so I'll take my leave here.  Till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Nothing is ever easy, is it. I don't have to enroll in a prescription program because I have insurance from my work that I was able to keep after retirement ... thank goodness. And they cover my husband for a very reasonable price. Of course we are both on Medicare so that insurance became my secondary and it does cover my prescriptions. That said the greedy Pharma companies keep hiking up the co-pays and then try to blame it on Affordable Care ... we know better though. They are just trying to gouge us while they still can. I am becoming very anti corporation. I didn't even pay any attention to them until they started messing with my life and everyone elses. Anyway, it's Saturday, Izzi class day and it's beautiful out, so I don't want to get started on that crap!

I do understand perfectly what you mean by being very busy and then not being able to tell what I was so busy with. I don't know if I am not really that busy and it just feels like it, or if I am just forgetting what I have accomplished by the end of the day. Either would be feasible :)

I am hoping my son will be here today to take the pier out of the lake. The water is starting to get pretty cold, so if he doesn't do it soon, he is going to be very uncomforable when he does do it. He works so many hours, I feel bad even asking him to do it ... but then, it has to be done, right? I have to go hop in the shower and get dressed. Izzi has class and we are taking a cake for one of the furbaby Moms ... it's her Birthday. That will be fun. So you have a wonderful weekend. I am glad you are getting all of your projects finished. Soon you will be able to tuck yourself under a cozy blanket and ride out the winter ... Be well, Edna and love licks to Pogo from Izzi ...

That would be so hard to deal with, but then again I have a hard time deciding on a menu entrée for lunch.
I love the photo of the flicker, they are such impressive birds.

Jan and I have an insurance( just the basic) for health care, which is rather expensive already. Because we don;t generate much income at the moment, we get a re-fund every month for it, partly, from the tax government.
First, years ago, the health care insurance was a oercentage of your imcome, and there you could understand it and worked well.
Now, for some years, that has changed and we have to look around for the best company with the best price etc.etc. which can be very confusing! And then in the basic option and also the more expensive extended options, are still rather confusing. First for medicine we have a own risk ammount to spend first, and when you spend that, you get coverage for the things you need. I am not explaining very well, I think, but perhaps you get the idea.
All together I still vote for the "older"version.
Ahhhhh, life could be so easy without having to do a lot of reseach, and trying to get the best options, because there are always the "small letters printed somewhere" that we often overlook and causing problems. You have to dig through pages and pages of texte, written often in an uncomprehensive way(with lots of "ifs"and "whenever"and "exluding"etc.
To brighter things, glad you had another good sleep. And soon you will have the new windows, great!
No nice weather today overhere, good to stay inside, I will prepare already meat for dinner soon(it has to stay on low fire for couple of hours) and then I will paly a bit in PSE and later watch some speedskating.
You see, with nothing much, I will be "busy"all day"already LOL!
Hugs
