A Viral Infection, Oh Goody!!

October 18, 2013

Good morning.  It's 4:20 a.m., and I'm awake so I figured I'd best get up and do my posting here, and maybe by the time I'm done I'll be tired enough to go back to sleep.  I got up a while ago because I was hungry, so I made a pan of noodles with butter and garlic powder.  Mmm, mmm.  That hit the spot!

I also tidied up a few things, and looked through a couple of new catalogues.  My eyes finally started drooping, so I crawled back into bed.  Alas sleep was not coming, so here I am.  With all the stuff I'm taking to cope with this nasty cold, I'm surprise I can sleep at all.

Yesterday I had an appointment with my doctor, and was told that I had a viral infection, and that it will take about a week to work its way out of my system.  He said to keep on doing what I was already doing, and prescribed prednisone to help ease the healing.

I made arrangements to be out of work for the week.  If things are not better by next Tuesday, I will have to call the doctor and go see him again.  As for my shopping spree yesterday afternoon, it did not happen.  Instead, I took a couple of the dwarfs to Walmart to shop while I picked up my prescription.  I can shop another day.

On my way home from the doctor yesterday, I took advantage of the light traffic, and got a couple photos of the awesome colors along our highways.   Scenery like this makes travelling a real pleasure.

I am blown away by the scenic beauty created by these Fall colors.  Some years the colors are a bit muted, but this year they are just fabulous.  When I got a couple of streets away from home, I pulled over to take a couple of photos of a couple of really gorgeous trees.

Later this morning, I have a couple of guys coming by to give me estimates for replacing some of the fascia boards on my house.   There are a couple of ways to do this, and I'm hoping that they will both explain these differences to me and the costs.  I like to be as educated as possible when I take on a new project.

As long as I am still awake, I think I'll start working on a few freebies.  I really want to get back into design mode.  I sort of miss working on the collab kits that Su and I used to make every month.  Well, I'm at the end of the post and I'm not sleepy, so I think I'll make a cup of coffee and start my new day a bit early. So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

What beautiful trees! My goodness, the colors are nice. We still have green around here -- just barely starting to turn.

Hope you are feeling better quickly.

Now that is the fall color I was missing! We passed through too early to witness this, so it's good to finally see it.
Those viral infections are the worst, they leave you feeling without any energy at all....but it's only for a week (hopefully).

Good morning, catching up again! What awesome photos of the colors, wish we could see those around here, but....green, brown...gone is usually what we get. We have finally gotten some rain and dips in our temps. Loving have my windows and doors open while I listen to the leaves dancing across the driveway.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a note, I so appreciate it.
Thanks for the lovely page using Kyra's kits. Also love the photos of Pogo and the chipmunk too. Great photos!
Have a lovely weekend, chat more later! Hugs, Mat

Hmmm, you know now that you have a viral infection, what great news ROFL. They are so hard to get rid off! Think you did a good thing to make arrangements for not working this week, It could help healing, take as much rest as you can.
Those fall colors are just awesome. I didn;t see that kind around here. Well, I didn;t go looking for them in a big park or so, but here in the nieghbourhood we have quit some trees , but they don;t like to show off those kind of fall colors.
That shopping plan of uours can de done another time, when you feel better.
Hope you get a good and understandable explanation for the boards, sometimes hard to choose between possibilities.
Stay warm and cosy,
Hugs
Kyra

Colds are viruses and they don't give in easily ... and not sleeping at night isn't going to help you get rid of it. What are you taking that is keeping you awake ... pseudophed is notorious for that if you are taking it. Benedryl, on the other hand can be taken for a sleeper ... works well, especially if you don't take it often. Melatonin is the standard for good sleep ... inexpensive, natural and puts me to sleep every night. Now that I don't have the neuapathy in my hands, I am sleeping well.

Like you I have a bug ... it is very subtle in that it just makes me tired and lazy and if I overdo, I start feeling queasy. It has been hanging on for over two weeks now ... no end in sight. I am also coughing a lot, but again it is all viral so there is nothing I can take ... just rest and fluids.

I love that you posted those beautiful New England colors. You have the most beautiful fall of all and I do hope someday to come out and see it. My parents took us out there when I was in grade school ... I won't mention how long ago that was. But, I have never forgotten ... even as a kid, I was in awe. You are soooo lucky and I love it that you are sharing it with us.

If you are going to be home ... email me a time I could call you. I really want to get your information so I can do something for Christmas ... not sure what I have time for at this point, but at least if I know how to do it, I can plan something ... even a New Years gift. Anyway, I have your number, just need a good time when we can chit chat. I sure hope you start feeling better soon. I know how hard it is, at our age, to get rid of things, but if you get a week of rest I an guessing you will win this battle. Be well, Edna ...
