Daylight Hours Are Much Shorter Now

August 26, 2013

Good morning.  I'm still at work for a few more hours, and I'm noticing how much daylight we have lost just recently.  It is almost 6 a.m., and the sky is just now beginning to lighten up.  It is such a sad feeling to see the Summer fading away.  Of course, it is inevitable, but I love having the long hours of daylight.

Last night, the Mrs went to bed a bit early so I was able to play for a while on my laptop to create something for Mandarin Orange Monday.  I have a delightful photo of a flower with two busy bees to share this morning.  After playing with a few filters and textures in Photoshop,  I've given the photo a nice "vintage" look.

While it was still daylight last evening, I noticed an unusual pattern in the sky.  This, of course, was made by a couple of planes that had flown overhead a while earlier, but I found it quite interesting.   Isn't this cool?

I'm getting hungry now, so while the Mrs is still asleep I shall make myself a bowl of instant Quaker Apples & Cinnamon Oatmeal.   Mmmmm, yummy.   I can see that this is going to be a long day, and this will give me a good start.  So, on that thought, till tomorrow Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Good morning to you. The vintage effect is very nice on the coneflowers. These were always one of my favorite plants. Of course I have quite a few favorites!

Nice edit job, Edna ... just enough orange to make it MOM and still look vintage. My Corn flowers are starting to die down already. It's the heat I presume and/or the gradual ending of summer. I always hate to see my flowers go ... but my Hibiscus are finally blooming. As big as dinner plates. I will have to post a picture. They are so beautiful ... and they were very late this year. I thought I had lost them over the winter, but suddenly they were there and now they are beautiful again.

I have my wedding to do this weekend ... I am dreading it. I don't know how I let myself get roped into it ... this is just way over my head. I am going to give her a chance to find someone else ... just sayin' She said it was just a small group and a simple quick ceremony, but now my neighbor is talking about her beautiful dress and the bridesmaids ... that doesn't sound simple to me. Oh my, I will age another 10 years this week, I fear. Better get going. I am going to the Botonical Gardens with a friend this morning ... that will be fun:) Catch you later, Edna ...

Terrific vintage look to the flowers and bees and love the plane vapor trails too. Thanks for visiting this morning...nice way to start the new week! All the kiddos go back to school today or tomorrow...so traffic this morning is a lot heavier!! The hot weather is still upon us too! Today is the coolest for the week, only supposed to be 98F today!
Hope you and Pogo have a marvelous week ahead! Hugs, Mat

The vintage look iswonderful! But I also like the natural colors.
Here we notice also the shortening of daylight and I don;t like it.
Oh well, we cannot do anything about it, so we just have to live with it.
I think all will be fine with the kitchen. We first will do the rest we want to do and by then I hope all will be dry anough again to paint over.
It's a lucky thing we still have lovely weather.
Today first have to do some grocerie shopping, then may be will do something in the house again.
Hope you have a quiet day!
Hug
Kyra

I like the results of your "playing" - and you were so lucky to get the shot of the bees too --- or I should say... clever:))
Love your editing.
Thank you for sharing with Mandarin Orange Monday:)
