HAPPY FATHERS DAY

June 16, 2013

Good morning, and Happy Fathers Day to my son Gary and my sons in law, Eddie and Mac.  I also wish a great day for all the other dads out there in blogland.  The sun is shining and it's warm, so I guess there will be a lot of barbeque grills fired up today.  Gosh, just the thought of it makes me hungry for a big fat juicy hamburger.

Speaking of hamburgers, I stopped at McDonalds last night on my way to work to get my iced coffee and it took me 21 minutes to go through the drive thru and actually pick up my order.  There were four cars ahead of me.  Imagine!!  When I got to the pick up window, there were four young employees inside doing nothing at all other than making my cup of coffee.  I was then five minutes late for work.  Not acceptable.

I'm watching a shopping channel (Jewelry Television) that is featuring man-made diamond jewelry.  Oh my, some of it is just gorgeous!!  Of course, some of it is also a bit on the gaudy side.  I like big and splashy, but I do have my limits.

How about some more hummingbird photos.  These are some of the ones that I took yesterday at work.  The Mrs has a feeder right outside the living room window.  I have been trying for so long to get some decent shots of the male hummingbird to show off his beautiful colored throat.

Well that's all the news for this morning.  Now I want to spend some quality time playing with Pogo before I have to take my nap.  Tonight is another work night.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all be safe and have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

You are so right ... it is really difficult to get the light right so the beautiful ruby throat shows up. I can't tell you how many Hmmmingbird pictures I have in storage waiting for that special one. And, today you did it ... Awesome!

Oh the waiting in line thing ... exasperating, right? My daughter and I stop every week to pick up a Hazelnut Ice Coffee (one of our favorites) on the way to her dental appointments downtown. Now timing is an issue here, because we have an hour plus(at least) drive to get downtown. The wait at McD's can make the difference between late or on time. We have reached the point of leaving a little earlier so as to not fall victom to their long lines and slow help ... if we were smart we would just stop going there and find another favorite ... now that you mention it, maybe that is what we will do:)

So Happy Father's Day to all of your Family Fathers. I am prepared for mine with a few little gifts and the Beef Stroganoff that we discussed before. I didn't make anything to post though and that has me thinking maybe I should do that. Not necessarily for Father's Day , but for every day that I do appreciate the Fathers in my Family ... hmmmmm, food for thought:)

We are having a beautiful day as well ... perfect for boating which means the lake is loaded and the beach will be full of stirred up weeds and stuff on Monday. Our boat is in the shop ... engine problems, but soon we will be out stirring everything up with everyone else. Best get going ... I hear footsteps on the deck ...
Have a restful day, Edna and hugs to Joe who seem to be Pogo's adopted Dad :)

Love your photos of the hummingbirds. It''s so nice to see birds coming around to have a bite! I can sit for a longer period in my gardenchair and watch some birdies flying on and off from my birdfeeder.
Hope you had a quiet night shift.
Enjoy the day ahead.

You certainly caught the light perfectly to capture the red throat of the hummingbird. That is so hard to do, they move so quickly not to mention facing away from the camera and not having the right light. Magnificent shot!
