History Can Be So Interesting

April 23, 2013

I am sitting here watching a program on the History Channel about Jefferson Davis.  It really is quite fascinating.  I wonder how more fun school would have been for a lot kids when I was in school, had we had TV programs such as this one.  It's such a great to learn.

Oh dear, I just went to have a sip of my coffee, and it is all gone!  Well, that won't do.  Just one minute folks while I make me another cup of coffee.

Mmmmmm, this hits the spot.  I use the single serving coffee bags.  They look like a large teabag.  You can make your coffee as strong or not so strong as you like.  I usually buy Folgers or Maxwell House, but whenever I shop at Market Basket, I buy their brand.  Mmm mmm, very tasty!!

I used to drink Duncan Donuts coffee whenever I was out, but now I get my coffee at McDonald's.  They use Paul Newman brand of coffee, and I personally think it tastes much better.  And it costs a lot less.

I thought we were done buying heating fuel for the season, but I was wrong.  Yesterday we had to have another delivery.  The only redeeming factor is that the price per gallon went down a bit.  About 27 cents per gallon.  At least that helped.

I recently joined a photography group, "Photography Plus The Art Of Photography" in order to learn more about taking great photos.  Here, whatever you want to learn is just a question away.  There are lots of challenges to give you inspiration for your photos.  Folks, if you want to learn to take better photos, do stop by and have a look around.

One of the challenges is for macro or close-up photos.  For this one, I photographed my Christmas Cactus up close.  Then I zoomed in on the center of one flower and changed it to black and white.  It may not be the best, but it surely was fun.  Here are my photos.

That's about all my news for this morning.  It's supposed to rain today and through the night, so I guess that makes it a good day to be doing laundry.  Maybe even give the vacuum cleaner a bit of exercise.  Not a lot, I don't want to overwhelm it.  lol.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Wow, what a lovely shot of the cactus flower (remember that movie?) and the center in b/w is so terrific especially with the small original in the corner!
We are to drop another 50+ degrees today/tonight. We topped out at 80 yesterday and to be in the 30's tonight so will have to turn the AC off and heater back on! Geesh!!
Yes, gasoline has dropped drastically around here too! From $3.70 in March to $3.29 now or was last time I ventured out on Friday!
I, too, love Paul Newman's coffee. And all the proceeds go to charity for his products. I use the Keurig single cup maker. Just love fresh coffee each cup!
Well, guess I better get myself gorgeous, am going out for lunch today! Believe me, will take me that long to make myself presentable...LOL!
You and Pogo have a great day! Chat more next time. Hugs, Mat

I used to get Gevalia coffee beans and grind my own, that was back in my fashionable 20s. I hadn't had Gevalia since I was a out 30. They stated doing Gaevalia K-Cups and offered a free sample through Facebook. Of course I asked for one and when I tried it. It had been so long and I'd forgotten how good their coffee tasted! Gevalia in K-Cups is the same price as most K-Cups and I have a box of Gevalia with my K-Cups now; so good!

Paul Newman coffee is very good but the salad dr4essings are fantastic! Newman's Ranch is better than Hidden Valley!

Your macros are beautiful, Edna!! If I ever get my scrapbooks caught up I need to work on my photos more. lol

Hugs, Nani

Good Morning ... I am going to fly through again. This is another week from ... :(

Love your pictures and what you are doing with them now. I will try to hop over to your photo class and see what is there. I miss being in learning mode ... it sure beats running around mode. We have another doctors appointment today and tomorrow. You are getting the rain that just left us. It rained here all day yesterday on top of the rain that caused all of the flooding. I haven't had time to watch the news so I don't know how it effected our flood levels ... I do know that our lake has crested and seems to be a little lower this morning. That is a good thing.

I read Mat's comment and I have to laugh ... she is happy that her gas prices went from $3.70 to $3.29 and our gas prices just got down to $3.70 ($3.60.9 actually). And will probably go back up soon because they will be adding the "summer additives" soon.

As for coffee ... I love cafe mocha. We too have a Keurig and when you drink flavored coffee, it usually doesn't matter what brand. I do agree that McDonalds has good coffee ... we usually get a cup to take with us on our way downtown. Burger King Coffee is good too, but their large is not as big as the McDonald's large. Just sayin' :)

Better get going ... have to get my daughter moving then run for gas before we leave. You have a great day, though it will be spent inside cleaning ... hmmmm. Later, my friend ...
