My Crabbiness Is Showing!

January 5, 2013

Good morning.  Well, browsing the internet and blogging became quite challenging yesterday, last night and then again this morning.  It started with a missing "browse" box which meant that I could no longer upload photos to my blog.  I spent hours checking into and trying to get this problem fixed.

Finally last night, after a suggestion from a friend and another unknown blogger, I installed Google Chrome and made it my default browser.  At first, it let me get to my blog and upload my photo.  But then more problems began.  It would not let me preview my blog, and it told me that I was not a nice site.  It also would not let me order my new blog book because it said that I had never been to that site, and now I could not use it.  (Scroll down below this post to view my newest photo art.)

Next it stopped me from opening my blog site at all and any other blogs that I normally go to.  I was not able to figure out how to fix any of this, so I uninstalled Google Chrome and returned to using Internet Explorer as my default browser.  So far, I am now able to open my own blog as well as other blogs.

Now I will see if I have a photo ready to post, and I'll try that.  OOPS, that still does NOT work.   So, for the time being, I won't be posting any photos or previews.  Hopefully, this will be fixed really soon or I shall have no choice but to find another place to blog from.

I did learn something about myself from all of this.  Even though I have been trying to be such a nice old gal, I find that I am still quite the crabby old lady.  I react rather well at regular life disasters, but messing with my computer or my blog brings out the beastie in me.  I pay a tidy sum for the privilege of being able to use the internet, and when my internet is not working properly my patience disappears.  Then it's back to being a regular crabapple.

I looked into uploading my photos to Picasa, and then maybe from Picasa to here but I don't really want to change my albums to a new storage.  I don't upload full size photos to the web, just resized small photos.  Picasa was telling me to upload full size photos and do my editing, etc. with their program.  I don't do well with change anymore, so I chose not to go that route.  For now.

Next on my "to fix" list is my eyeglasses.  It's time for a new eye exam, and a new pair of glasses.  First thing come Monday, I'll call for an appointment.  Hopefully my new glasses won't be getting dirty so often.  No matter how often I clean my current glasses, they are dirty again within minutes.  It's really quite annoying.  (See what I mean?  Crabby!)

Then within the next couple of weeks I need to make another payment on my real estate taxes.  Boy oh boy, that bill was an eye opener!  The other eye opener was my car insurance bill.  I have been driving since 1955 (that's 57 1/2 years!) and have a very clean driving record.  Yet, my bill is $1200.00!!!

I wonder if it would be cheaper to hire a chauffeur?  Think about it.  You don't have to buy a car, pay for repairs or auto insurance or auto taxes.  You just pay the chauffeur, and he has the responsibility for all the rest.  Now this is something worth looking into.  I think.

Well, that's it for this morning.  I think I'm going to just plop myself onto my shower chair and try to unwind a bit under a spray of nice warm water.  Ohhhh, that does sound good!  So till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Well, at least you are here. I don't think you should have put Chrome as your default browser ... mine is just on my computer, but AOL is still my default. That was a nasty experience ... crabby would seem to be the appropriate response.

I think Google had better get it's act together or a lot of people will be looking for another blog site to use. If you explore it, let me know. I know what you mean about change ... I hate to change the way I do things. It is hard for me to learn a new way because I don't have a handle on all of the geekie terminology they expect you to understand when they write their directions. Yesterday when I was doing the same thing as you in the morning for the same reason, I had to start looking up terms just to figure out what I was reading. So far switching to Chrome for my uploading is still working ... knock on wood!

Today I signed up for a free stroke screening. It is sponsored by one of the area hospital groups and costs nothing, but a little of my time. Since I have several family members who died of stroke, I thought it would be a worthwhile thing. Hope the news is "all clear"!

Our weather remains cold so yours probably will too. I was hoping it would warm up a little so I could take my bird guest for a walk. They enjoy being outside, but not when it is this cold. He will be leaving on Monday and according to my weather gal it is going to remain cold until next week ... right after he leaves it is supposed to get up into the 40's as luck would have it.

I hope your hot shower relaxed you and I hope that your computer gets it's act together. I am sure Google was flooded with complaints yesterday. I am hoping they are burning the midnight oil trying to resolve their issues because I don't wish to move anyplace. I am not sure I could accomplish a move like that. I had a friend that helped me set up my blog ... I would have to call on her again. Oh my ... why can't life be simple?

Well, Edna, fingers crossed that this is a better day. Certainly not a good way to start out the new year. Be well and crab all you want. You are entitled :)

If this is a web-wide issue, Blogger better get on it! LOL I am tending to believe it may be you need to empty your cookies. In an e-mail I explain it to you.
But, if that is not it, I am at a loss! I know someone to ask. I'll hit her up and let you know if she can tell what it is.

By the way, we have earned the right to be crabby once in a while!

Su

This is actually an issue with Internet Explorer not Blogger itself. They are aware of the problem and trying to fix it. If you use another browser like Firefox you can upload your photo's without any problems.

I had this same problem months ago where I couldn't upload any photos. I changed to Google Chrome, have had no problems since (with photos) but it gives so many other problems, like pop ups all the time. Now I can't get the blog to list my posts day by day, they just come under the heading "January".

I, too am the same, once I get to used to using something I like it to stay that way. I don't understand all the gobbledegook they talk and I too get crabby.

It would be nice for some entrepeneur to set up a computer just for us 'oldies', with all the things we are familiar with and like.

I need a new computer one of these days but am dreading getting one because it's now Windows 8 on them. I love my Windows XP but they say that by the end of the year the updates for XP will no longer be available. Grrrrr!!!

Well you have a good day and hope you get it sorted.

I had the same problem with loading photos but was able to get around it by using Picasa. But I really don't want to continue doing that all the time either.
I also have the same problem with smudgy glasses! I have never cleaned them so often before. It is very annoying. I don't know if the lens material is different than before or what is going on.
I can't complain about the weather, but know that you have a fellow-crabster here...so you're not alone.

Best not to use Google Chrome. I have it on the computer too, but heard so much nasty things about it I never used it.
I have Firefox as my nr.1 browser. It works best for me. And till now I had no problem posting pics.
For the uploading of photos it could be just the problem of Picasa. I don;t know exactly if they have a limit, but perhaps it helps to clean your files there a bit.
Know what you mean about change of blogsite. I don;t like that either. I am happy with Blogger, know my way around for a bit there and don;t want to have to get into another way of posting and such(never understand the explanations LOL).
Try first to change to Firefox, I think it could solve some problems.
And yes, you have the right to get crabby. I get crabby too when such things happen to me!
So give it another try, and I hope it will work for you!!
