A New Comet Is Coming

January 25, 2013

Good morning.  It's quite nippy here, only 6 degrees F.  It's supposed to get all the way up to 25 degrees later today.  Woo Hoo!  Tonight should be a few degrees warmer than last night, but no warmer during the day.  Glad to see that January is almost over.

I did notice that the sky is getting lighter much earlier now.  That's a good sign that the days are getting longer and Spring will soon be here.  I'm still at work, and the Mrs is asleep.  So, I'm enjoying a hot cup of instant oatmeal as I type here.

My friend Mary Ann sent me some info about a new comet that is coming into view later this year.  According to  http://newsdiscovery.com/space/  we should be able to see Comet Ison around November 28, 2013.  I hope the news folks remind us of this when the time comes so that I don't miss it.

Last night, the moon was so round and bright that I just had to try for a few photographs.   This was such a beautiful moon with two large auras around it.  This first photo is straight out of the camera.  Isn't it gorgeous?

Here's another shot, just a bit more zoomed in on.  As you can see, there are a few little clouds and they are moving.  Gosh, what a pretty sky.

I just went outside to get a shot of the morning sky here at 7:05 a.m.  The pink colors were so pretty, but when I checked my camera, I had forgotten to put the memory back in the camera.  So I put it in now, and went back outside to try again.  The change in the sky in just one or two minutes is amazing.  There were still pink rays, but they were already much lighter as you can see in this next phto.

I'm not sure what is going on, but I finished this post, and hit save, publish.  Then I came back in to make sure all is well, and all is not well.  What is going on with Blogger?  It is now even interfering with my trying to post using Firefox.  Ah well, I'll try again to save this and publish it.

Mrs is waking now, so gotta go.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Wow, Edna, the moon shots are awesome. I love the rainbow colors in the ring around the moom. The morning pink rays are also beautiful ... you have had quite a night with your camera.

By the way, my blogger is letting me post pictures again. You might want to give it a try since it is much easier than hopping around to different sites.

So I read your comment on Queen Jester ... a wienie warmer? Oh my, Edna, there is a side to you we don't know:) I am thinking we would have had lots of fun together if we had known each other in an earlier life ... don't you think?

My Expo yesterday was awesome. We were mobbed by people in awe of and with a million questions about the birds. I have to tell you though, I had a few achy bones last night by the time I got home at eleven. It is a long day, but when you are so busy, it just flies by.

I am hopping in and out of blogger today. I have to hit the shower and then off for another day of awesome ... Hope your day is wonderful. We got two inches of white fluffy snow last night, so maybe that it on it's way to you. I, too, have noticed the longer days and Izzi is loving it because she can squeeze in one more game of Frisbee before it gets dark. Take care, my fiend ...

Lovely photos of the moon and early morning sky! Wow it is way too cold up your way for me...LOL! Guess my blood has thinned too much to this roller coaster Texas crazy weather!
Love the roses photo you did yesterday too, lots of work, but it looks terrific.
Poor Pogo is just going through a phase now that he KNOWS he is going to be fed and pampered! He will eat when he gets hungry enough, no matter what you give him...LOL! I have finicky cats that do the same thing! ROFL!
Have a terrific weekend ahead! Stay warm and enjoy your Saturday night off! Hugs! Mat

I love the moon photos - I noticed the same thing the other night but didn't have the camera with me.

And yes, I agree with how fast the sky can change. Sometimes the view out the window varies from the view by the time I slide on my slippers and jump out the door to shoot it.

That Mother Nature is a fast moving lady!

Lovely moon shots, might be a good texture over a background?
Have to find out for another chat program, cause Windows messenger isn;t there anymore. I can do it via Gmail or try yahoo or google talk. But you know me, never like too much to install something new LOL.
Don;t understand why you are having problems with Firefox. Works great for me, almost always.
Have a great weekend Edna
