Surprise Weather

November 8, 2012

My, what a surprise I got during the night and again this morning.  Sometime shortly after midnight, Pogo wanted to go out for a sprinkle so I put on his new rain slicker and out we went.  Into the falling snow!  Everything was being coated with this cold white stuff.  Yuck!

Around 8 o'clock this morning, he wanted to go out again.  This time I put on his new winter jacket, and out we went - into the snow and rain mixed.  Double yuck!  Snow, slush and water everywhere!  This time, Pogo decided that he definitely did not like being out in this mess and would not make any sprinkles.

So, back in the house we went.  I set him down on his potty patch, hoping for the best, but he definitely does not like that either.  At the moment, we are at a standoff.  I know as soon as I turn my back on Pogo, he will water one of my scatter rugs.  I'm keeping my eye on him.  Winter lasts a long time here.

Yesterday, I took Pogo shopping at Petco.   He picked out a new winter coat, a rain slicker and two new shirts.  I also got him a new collar and harness.  The only thing we did not get was boots.  I might have got some but there were none his size.  Hmmm, maybe I could cut the fingers off a latex glove, and tie one on to each of his legs (like thigh high boots).  I'll have to think about that.

Later, daughter in law, Janet, came by with more birthday goodies for me, and a deeeeelicious birthday cake.  Thank you so much Janet.  Goodness, any wonder why I love her so?  She is always so good to me.  She's also my "photo fun" buddy and a good friend.

Now, I have a question for you.  Does anyone know about a 99 year old Max Factor cover girl?  Some time ago, a friend sent this photo to me.  It intrigued me so I tried Googling it to get more information.  However, I never did find anything about this adorable lady.  Maybe you'll have better luck?

I think models should reflect what people really look like.  Elderly folks do buy their clothes and accessories in the same stores that "skinny minnies" shop in.  Yet you rarely ever see clothes being modelled by a size 22 gal,  or better yet an 85 year old lady.

If you pick up a "Big Sizes" clothing catalogue, you will find that the models are tall with fabulous (slim) shapes.   The catalogue gives one the impression that sizes 22 to 28 just refers to how tall you are.  In fact, it has more to do with the width of your waistline, your bustline and your rear end.

I would like to see catalogues for Women's and Women's Petite clothing with photos of the clothes actually being worn by us "normal sized" women.  Especially the petites.  I am between 5' and 5'1" (shrinkage from old age, you know). and would love to see clothes (women's petite) being modelled by someone the same size as me.  Even better for me would be if they were over 70.

I have so many good ideas that I just can't figure out why the White House hasn't asked for my opinions on some things.  Like for instance, a water pipeline,  election by popular vote only, clothing designers and models for larger and elderly ladies, better and less expensive benefits for the elderly, stricter laws for child and animal abuse, etc.  I'm thinking that we really need to get more women into politics and the White House.

Enough babbling for today.  I have laundry to do and, of course, the dreaded house work.  I can't seem to get rid of this nasty cough, and I'm not looking forward to going out again in this mess to see if I can't get Pogo to do his "stuff" outside.  Oh joy, oh joy.  So till tomorrow, think sunshine and warm weather, and Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I heard about your Noreaster on the news. Some places got 11 inches of snow ... enough is enough. I hope your day turned out better than it started. Did the little boy ever make it out to sprinkle?

I hope I look that good at age 99. I hope I am even alive at age 99, I think. I guess that depends on quality of life issues. Anyway, I can't help you find anything about her. I tried and it sent me to your blog ... Ha!

I agree with your political suggestions. Especially stronger laws on animal abuse. Some states are pretty good about it ... others don't seem to care.

So your BD goes on ... don't you love when it lasts longer than the actual day? Your DIL seems like a sweetheart. You are blessed.

Not much happening here today so I guess I will end for now. Word has it that your storm will be over soon, so I hope you have a beautiful day tomorrow ...

Oh oh Pogo definately has a will of his own!! May be you shouldn't be so nice for him, buying all his clothes and such. Perhaps you should say to him, : you go do potty outside, like a decent dog and then I might buy you a nice rainjacket"LOL!

Yeah, Edna for president in 4 years, go for it girl!!!

Yak, you had your first snow already? Not nice. I pray it stays away here still for a looong time.

That lady of 99 looks great! Didn't do yet any search, but perhaps later. And I agree with you complaint for models and such.
Although we do have a few magazines where they have models of certain age and "certain"size. But designers for casual clothing could do some more with that. Oh well, they desing it for bigger size, but now they will have to show it on catwalks and magazines too.

Now it's time to really get rid of your cold, sweetie! I have no idea how, but there should be some cure for it, hmmmm?
Well, have a nice and hopefully snow free weekend!

Wow, snow already! We hit 85 yesterday and to be at 80 today! But the weekend is to bring changes and the wind is causing the leaves to rain down and dance across the driveway causing my "girls" to run to the windows and check them out! Then they leave their "nose art" on my clean windows...LOL!
Pogo loves to shop ? Who knew ? LOL!
Glad you have a great DIL that is a good friend. Means a lot! Yes, I agree, more women in the WH would help balance the budgets wouldn't it? I think you should run and you do have some good ideas.
Anyhow, have a great weekend, check in on you later! Don't get out in that snowy mess anymore than you have to so you can get well! Hugs, Mat

I love love love the photo of the older woman - very inspirational!

My husband chuckled at your comment that Pogo picked out a new wardrobe.

I hope the storm abates for you and things settle down. We're having heavy wind and it's supposed to get cold down here in New Mexico, but that's all relative.

Love your blog. Another blog I love that may interest you is "Advanced Style". The lady in your picture is often in it.
