History Can Be Fun

November 17, 2012

Good morning.  It's a bit cool and cloudy, but the sun might still show it's face this afternoon.  I'm sitting here watching a very fascinating TV program about old Hollywood trivia and memorabilia.  (The program is called "History Detectives".)

You know that big famous sign "HOLLYWOOD"?  It originally read "HOLLYWOODLAND".  It was first put up in 1923 to sell real estate.  By the late 1940's, the sign was dilapidated.  It was torn down, and a new one was put up without the last four letters.

Some fun news, yesterday, I got a package in the mail.  It was the tablet that I had ordered for myself for my birthday.  I got the Nexus 7 by Google.  Now I just have to figure out how to use it.  I went on Amazon and bought me a couple of books to help me learn my way around this new tablet.  I'm hoping to have a lot of fun with it, but we shall see.  As much as I love new tekky  toys, they don't always love me.

Today I have a couple of interesting photos to share that I took this past October.  This first one is a shot of the blue sky peeking through some dark rain clouds.

This next photo was taken (also in October) one afternoon on my way home from work.  I was sitting at a traffic light and noticed some seagulls perched on top of one of the parking lot lamps.  You know me, I just had to photograph them.

Now I'm going to enjoy watching the "Antiques Road Show".   It is fascinating to see what some of these treasures are worth.   A lady has brought in an advertising piece that she purchased for $32 that is really worth around $3000.  Now that's quite a bargain!

Pogo is getting antsy, so I guess it's time to see about making us some lunch.  I'm thinking we might have hamburgers.  Mmmm, mmm.  On that note I'll leave you.  Till tomorrow,  Y'all take care and have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Let's hope your new tecky toy will love you and that you will know how to use it soon!

Planning a sunday with some ironing, and some computertime LOL.

Keep me posted on the Nexus, I've been looking at that one also. It would be nice to have something tinier to carry into town when we don't have a good connection - and that doesn't take up the whole table to use it!
