Such A Disappointment

October 10, 2012

Good morning.  It's 5:30 a.m., and I've been busy on my laptop composing an email to the person in charge at the camera club regarding my disappointment tonight.

When the judging for the October entries started, the judge stated that the winning photos would be at the end of each category in the slide show.  The first category was "Nature", and as the photos were shown and commented on, I was getting a bit excited because my photo was not shown yet.

Then came the Honorable Mentioned, Third Place and Second Place.  Imagine how I felt knowing that my photo was the only photo left.  Then came the First Place photo and it was not mine.  I felt two things.  First, wow, what a gorgeous photo!  And second, where's my photo?

During the intermission break, I asked the person running the projector why my photo was not included and was told "Oh, I was informed that for some reason, I don't know why, your photo was not included.  Maybe you did not get it in on time?"

I assured him that it was most definitely put in on time, and that I had saved all the emails from when I entered it.  He could only say "Sorry, I don't know what happened.  Better luck next time."

Needless to say, I left the meeting feeling quite deflated.  I had been hoping for some critique, whether good or bad.  This is how I learn to be better.   Now I have mixed feelings about this camera club.  I had thought that we would be learning how to become better photographers and more about our cameras.  Out of three meetings, this was the first one where we actually learned something.

Janet may not be attending too many more meetings, but I will hang in there for a little while longer.  Maybe this is just a quirky happening, and things will be much better.  We shall see.

I have a couple of photos to share that I took this past Monday morning when I was leaving work.  The birds were in the tree tops and the sun was shining on them, making it quite a pretty sight.

Well, I think I'll take Pogo out for his early morning sprinkle, then maybe we'll hop back into bed for a while and watch some TV.  I bought us a new fuzzy blanket, and it's quite toasty when we're wrapped up inside it.  Later, I shall get busy finished up a couple of computer projects.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Oh the birds and the fall colors with the warm sunlight; magnificent!

I really hope it was a small snafu and something that will get fixed with why your photos weren't there. I've been to some creative "workshops" that were a disguise for an ego-boost for a few that didn't teach much. I hope that's not happening to you!!

Bummer, not cool to leave you out then not even a reason why...so callous of them about your feelings! Love the photos of the birds, very pretty! Hope you and Pogo enjoy your day! Hugs, Mat

Try not to let it ruin your experience at the camera club -remember that this is all volunteer duty driven and things happen. I'd stick with it and give it another shot yet. Perhaps follow up with an email to confirm that they did receive it to push the issue a bit.

It's not a nice experience at the photoclub, but... I think you will have to give them another chance. Things like this can happen.

I will have a busy day today, we bought a lot of veggies, so have to prepare them for the freezer!

Have a great day.
