Oh, Such Yucky Weather!

October 29, 2012

Good morning.  Well, I made it home just fine this morning.  The best way to describe the weather at the moment is "yucky!".  The rain started here yesterday afternoon, along with a bit of wind, and kept up all through the night.  At 6 a.m. there was a heavy fog everywhere, along with a bit of feisty wind.  The sky is just one big gray cloud as far as you can see.

I took a photo as I was slowing down for a traffic light to show you just how yucky it is.   Except for a rather strong "poof" of wind every now and then, the driving isn't too bad just yet.

Today we are expecting rain with winds 30-50 mph with occasional gusts over 70 mph.  And still, the storm is hundreds of miles away.  Imagine!  Some folks even put their trash out this morning for the collection trucks.  A lot of these barrels were already blown over when I passed them.  You would think that these folks could have waited for the trucks to get near, or just put the trash in the garage, shed or cellar till next week.  We will wait until we can see the truck, then take our barrel out to the sidewalk.

I'm watching the Weather channel and they are showing how this storm will be affecting Chicago.  They will be getting 25 foot waves!  Can you imagine?  This storm is at least 500 miles wide, and will be felt all the way up to Wisconsin.  Golllleeeee!

I tried calling daughter, Audrey, last night but could not get an answer.  I assumed that meant they had things shut off during the storm.  I will be trying her again this morning.  I just need to know that they are alright there.  Cheryl, talk about Boonies!  My daughter lives a quarter of a mile in from the road, and is surrounded by fields of corn, peanuts and soybeans.  (when they are growing)  Now, I call that the "Boonies"!

The Mrs got lots of beautiful flower bouquets for her birthday, and of course, I took a few photos..  This one is part of a bouquet that had lots of gorgeous orange chrysanthemums.  I'm posting it for Mandarin Orange Monday.  If you haven't checked out M,O.M., give yourself a photographic treat and stop in to see all the beautiful photos that have already been posted.

Well, that's my update for this morning.  Now I want to go watch for the trash collection truck.  If you're anywhere this storm, do stay warm and safe.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Your orange flower picture is beautiful. The "Mrs." must have had a wonderful birthday ... Good for her.

I will be thinking of you as we follow the storm from here. I sure hope it turns out to be not as bad as what they are expecting. I don't know how people can deny the existence of climate change ... I can't remember a storm like this in my life time. I know you will be well prepared and will be fine because of it ... but I will still worry until you send out the word. My friends just came back from the Carolina's last night and didn't experience anything terrible from the storm, so I am guessing your daughter is fine. It probably depends on where she is as to what kind of effects she will experience. I can't imagine 50 inches of snow ... good grief! Does the "Mrs." have a family member who will stay with her in case her care givers can't get to her? My goodness, such a storm. Hope you will be okay. I am thinking about you Edna ... keep us posted.

That mum is beautiful! I've been becoming more attracted to orange. I think that's part because it's the MS ribbon color, but also because it's your favorite and my secret santee's last year,so I've been exposed to some beautiful orange things!

We have gray skies and gusty wind here and expected sustained wind at 40MPH tonight in Toledo. I can only imagine how much worse it'll be for driving there. Do you work tonight or tomorrow? What is your plan or the plan for the Mrs if it gets too bad to drive? I know that's probably all set, I just have too much worry time right now!

Stay safe my friend!!

Hugs, Nani

Yes, that would definitely be in the boonies!
We are glued to the news coverage of the storm and think of you often. I can't believe the stupidity of some of these people that need to be rescued. It's not like this hasn't been talked about for a long time now with plenty of time to prepare.

Glad you made it home okay! And yes, from your picture one can tell the weather is really "Yukkie".
By the way, if I looked well, the orange flower is a carnation?
The small burgundy flowers might be chrysanthemums.
What the heck, it's looking like a lovely bouquet!
Stay safe and take care when you take out your carbage bin! Don;t want to see you flying around without your broomstick!!!

Miss Edna that is a beautiful picture - very rich in pattern and texture as well as, of course, gorgeous colour. An usual colour combination too..sort of majestic I think.

I hope you and your family are safe in the storm. Hopefully, by now, the worst is over.
Thank you for being part of Mandarin Orange Monday:)
