Hurricane Sandy Is Heading Up Our Coastline

October 26, 2012

Good morning.  I did start a post yesterday, but was just not in a chatty mood.  I had gotten a great night's sleep for a change, but woke up in a wicked mood,  I'm not sure why I was so off kilter, but I thought it best not to try writing a post.

I went shopping in the afternoon to pick up some more new clothes for my daughter Laura.  Once a year, I try to pick out a whole new wardrobe for her.  When you live in a nursing facility, all your clothes and personal blankets go into a commercial washer and dryer.  Therefore they don't last too long.  I will have to go shopping again because her birthday is coming up real soon, and I want to find something pretty for her.  She will be 47 in another week.

It's still early, 4:55 a.m, and I'm watching the Weather Channel.  I'm waiting for the update on Hurricane Sandy.  This one is making me nervous, so I want to keep up on where it is heading.  We are on alert all the way up past Boston.  At the moment, heavy winds and flooding is being forecast for our part of New England.

My roses are still blooming and looking quite pretty.  I played a bit in Color Efex Pro 4 with a photo of a large pink rose, then edited the same photo in Photoshop for a comparison.  Each program has it's pros and cons depending on the photo you are working with.  The first photo was edited in PS, and the second photo was done in CEP4.

Today is a workday, and I will have to be getting ready soon.  I got the Mrs a new sweater and pant set, so I hope it fits her.  If it does, then I will hem up the pant legs for her.   Now I must start getting dressed and ready to leave.  I want to give Pogo his breakfast and have a cup of coffee before I leave.  So, till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I'm hoping Sandy turns out to be a dud, but it's good to be prepared.

Both roses are beautiful with the edits. I am praying that SANDY takes a turn and not hit where they are forecasting....keeping you in my prayers (plus I have family up in that direction too). Hope the MRS enjoys her gift and the Laura will have a beautiful birthday! U n Pogo stay safe, don't work too hard now! Many hugs and wishes for a fabulous weekend! Mat

Boy I am on the fly this week. I think sometimes I try to do too much, but it is hard to turn your back when there is a need. Happy Birthday to the Mrs. ... Is she telling her secrets to a long life? If she is, I hope you will share because I am getting to the age where I may need a secret or two down the road:)

I'm glad you are in a better mood today. I love that you are shopping for your daughter. I do a lot of that myself. I would like to talk to you about your daughter and mine sometime on e-mail. It would seem we may have something else in common.

Both Roses are beautiful in different ways. The PS rose is more subtle and maybe looks more natural. The other has a much richer color. I don't think I have a preference ... it would depend on how I was using it.

I have been watching your storm as well ... I thought of you when I saw it on the news. Fingers crossed that it turns out to be less of a storm than they are thinking. How close are you to the shore? I think the further away you are, the less of an effect, at least from the hurricane. You will probably get the cold blast either way ... we have it here now. In the low 30's at night and the mid 40's in the day. I have an inkling that we may have a very cold winter this year. Have to run ... hope you have a wonderful day.

Sending positive thoughts and a prayer that Sandy is much kinder than forecast.

We don't have any flowers in bloom now, but the burning bush in our backyard is almost fluorescent red this year. We have lesser wind and rain than you for the next few days but David is hoping it will blow our plush carpet of oak leaves against the fence so he can rake it out to the street and not have to buy a leaf blower. We'll see. The squirrelies like our oak because it's SO big.

Stay dry and on your feet in the wind and rain...and DON'T let Pogo get blown away!! :)

Hugs, Nani

Heard on our news about the hurricane, and do hope it will not effect you !
We too have stil a few flowers in bloom till now. But temps are dropping, specially at night, so I wonder how long the blooms will last?
And yes agree with Nani in this:
If Sandy is coming by, you should tie Pogo up for safety, or put him on a hoodie with a brick on each side, as I do when we have real stormy weather LOL!
Have a great day, oh, hope the clothes for the Mrs. will fit well!
Hugs
Kyra
