Growing Older

October 1, 2012

Good morning, and welcome to October.  I am just flabbergasted at how quickly the whole year has flown by.  You would think that with all that has happened so far this year, that time would have slowed down a bit.  But nope, don't blink, 'cause the holidays are on their way in.

In the midst of all this, I am going to get even older.  Gosh, that's one thing I'd really like to slow down a bit.  Growing old is rather sucky.  When we had all kinds of energy to do fun things, we had kids to raise.  When we worked two and three jobs and had the money to play, the kids needed boots and clothes.

Now the kids are all grown up and raising families of their own, and we have the time to do some of the fun things that passed us by.  But alas, there is less money and not very much energy.  Our bones are easily broken, and it's a chore just to breathe.  When we go somewhere, we have to take extra sets of clothes with us in case we sneeze or cough.  And that's if we remember to go somewhere.  We forget a lot.  See what I mean?  Sucky!

On the other hand, I do have more time to play with my dog, and get creative on my computer.  I really don't care if the dust bunnies stick around awhile.  Who cares?  When I am gone and pushing up daisies, the dust bunnies will still be there.  I enjoy the sights around me so much more now that I have the time to actually sit and look at them.  So I guess I'll stick with sucky.

One of the things I like to do is photograph the clouds.  I watched a program on TV yesterday that told of a large worldwide group of people that are into clouds.  They photograph them and study them.  They've even found a new type of cloud.  I think this is awesome!  I'll have to look them up on Google.

I'm trying to keep upbeat since my hard drive crashed and took all my stuff with it.  I find that I lost a lot more than I originally thought.  That was my backup drive, and there was two years worth of stuff on it.  So far, I've only been able to find bits and pieces on various flash drives and disks.

Every time I go looking for a photograph to work with, I find that it is among the missing.  I am so glad that I had several of my favorite photographs printed, because I wouldn't have them now.  Thank goodness for that.

My friend Rhoda sends me some of the cutest photos, and today I will share one of my favorites.  You see this all the time at the animal hospital.

Remember some months back when I was doing laundry, I took a photo of Tootsie's laundry hanging up to dry?  Well, yesterday I did a batch of Pogo's laundry and took a photo of it to share with you.  I think it's just the cutest!  The only hoodie not hanging up is the orange one, which he is wearing.

Now I'm going to get Pogo and hop in my car and go to the bank.  Got to put the money in the bank so the bill collectors will all be happy.  Ah, such is life!  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Pogo is better dressed than I am! I think maybe he was waiting for the bacon yesterday; he's training you well, Edna! :)

My mother, who only lived until 58, always said that "Growing old sure beats the alternative." I completely agree! I would have loved if she'd actually gotten old like my grandmother and great-grandmother did. They were both very rich in wonderful memories. I remember my great-grandmother talking about everything she'd seen when she was in her 80s and was discussing living to be 100. She wanted to see the year 2000 but didn't think she had to see 100. She made it to 95 1/2. I think when your brain takes over for your body you reset and you're still not old; just rich in your own history.

Wow, deep for a Monday! :) Have a wonderful rest of your Monday!

Hugs, Nani

Growing old is not for sissies, but I am enjoying the perks have having the time to delve into my passions.

Ahh, growing older and older. Helas, that is the way our lives go. Body may not always do what your mind wants it to, but one thing I am convinced of. As long as your brain says to you, sweetie your body may grow older but your mind is still in your much yonger days, then you are not really old.
As long as you stay curious, and want to explore new things(although sometimes with a bit more difficulty LOL) you aren;t and old person.
What a nice bunch of clothes for Pogo! I think he has more "sweaters"(well, his hoodies I mean) than I have ROFL.
Have a great day.
