Vacation's Over And We'll Be Home Soon

March 10, 2012

It's 1:45 a.m. and I can't sleep.  My alarm clock is going to ring in an hour and fifteen minutes to wake me up.  After tossing and turning for a couple of hours, I decided it would be best to just get up.  We both have early planes to catch this morning.   Audrey is being picked up by the shuttle bus at 4:15 a.m, and I have to be at the car rental place between 5:30 and 5:45 a.m.  Their driver will take me and Tootsie to the airport.

It's been quite an enjoyable vacation this year, and even more fun once Audrey got here.  I didn't get to do the helicopter tour, but I did get to spend a day with my son and that was so much better.  And to top it all off, I had internet access at my unit so I was quite the happy little camper.

Friday was a nice relaxing day for us.  We mostly lounged around, did a bit of reading and played on our laptops.  Audrey got to walk around and take photos of the flowers and the neighborhood critters.  For lunch and supper, we managed to do a nice job of eating up most of the food in the refrigerator and freezer.  All that was left was a couple of ice creams, and we had those for a snack before going to bed.

I have some photos to share.  One afternoon while we were out riding around looking for pond areas where there might be birds, we pulled into a driveway to turn around, and five or six of these little beauties came trotting by us.   They weren't too keen on having their photo taken, but they put up with us for a little while.   I think these are cattle egrets.

And here is another of the gorgeous hibiscus that grow all over the place here.  This one is a beautiful red.

These past two weeks have really been nice, but it will be nice to get back home too.  Dee Dee and Eddie and the dwarfs have been taking care of my house, and Janet has been stopping in to water my plants.  Oh yes, I am a very lucky lady, and I am thankful for each and every one of my blessings.

It's a quarter past two and I'm trying to decide if I want to catch a 45 minute nap or just have another cup of coffee.  Quite possibly, the coffee will win out.  On that note, I wish you all a good night, and Y'all have a great day come morning.

Hugs, Edna B.

Glad you had a nice trip, your cold notwithstanding. The egrets are so neat, stilts for legs. :)

Maybe the helicopter i for next year?

Hope it was a good flight back!
