Snow And Rain Coming

March 31, 2011

It's almost sunny this morning.  Maybe the sun is just not in the mood to shine today.  We have rain and snow coming later today or tonight.  And lots more of the same tomorrow and tomorrow night.  We are supposed to have sunshine for Saturday and Sunday, and then three more days with rain.

Yesterday was such a fantastic day to be outdoors.  But first, I sat me down and  finished my tax totals.  Then I got dressed and went out to do a bit of pruning and weeding in my little garden.  One of the dwarfs also took advantage of the warm sun, and did a bit of the weeding with me.

I was hoping to get to the park this week to take some new photos, but I don't think it's going to happen.  Oh, groan, groan, groan.  The weather channel has been saying that we will only get about an inch or snow with a lot of slush and rain over the next day or two, but now there is a lady forecaster on the screen saying that we are going to get up to 3 inches of snow.

Blogger has been developing a nuisance problem, and now it is really getting bad.  Have you noticed that when you try to leave comments on a blog it takes Blogger forever to actually post the comment (IF it does at all!)?  Today I took a few minutes to write a comment for someone, and after waiting a couple of minutes, I finally had to delete everything in order to keep my PC from freezing.  This has been going on for quite a while, but now it is really annoying.  Please Blogger, fix this!!!

I had a couple of photos to share this morning, but Blogger will only let me upload one of them.  Oh for the good old days when blogging was simpler!!!   Before Blogger was all jazzed up with lots of new improvements, it was really easy to share news and photos here.  Now it's a learning experience.  I have for you a photo of some Snow Drops from the garden at work.  These usually come up with the crocuses.

It's time now for me to see about lunch, and get ready for my appointment with the accountant.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Lot's Of Changes On Blogger Here

March 30, 2011
Well folks, there's only today and tomorrow left to see if March will go out like a lamb and let the warmth of Spring take over.  I have the weather channel on to see what's happening with the upcoming storm that I've been hearing about.  Of course, now that I have switched to that channel, there are a ton of advertisements on.

I think I found the the root of my problems with Blogger.  It seems they have done quite a bit of re-vamping and made a lot of changes.  It would be nice if they could post us an email notifying of all the different changes.  I spent a couple of miserable days trying to figure it all out.  Most of my problems were in the changes that were made to the editing process.  (At least, I think that is it!!)

Back to the weather channel --  It's not looking so good for the beginning of April.  Friday is April Fool's Day, and the weatherman says we will have rain, snow and wind.  Actually, it looks like three fourths of the country will be wet!!!

Do you love "personality" dolls?  Then you really must have a look at The Queen Jester's blog.  She has made the cutest stick doll puppets!!!  Each doll has her own special "personality."  You can almost read each doll's mind.  What a wonderful talent this lady has!

Now for a photo or two.  At work, one of the Mrs' daughters made a gorgeous arrangement of pussy willows and white tulips.  So of course I got busy with the camera.

We don't seem to have a choice of size or placement of the photos we post here anymore.  At least, I haven't found this info yet.  Later, when I finish up with my tax numbers, I will have to take a closer look at all of the new changes that Blogger has recently made.

As you know, I am a serious procrastinator.  If there is a chance to put it off till tomorrow, I will take the chance.  I did not finish my tax numbers yesterday, so today it is at the top of my list of things that have to be done.   I really do not like doing taxes!!!!!!

Well, that's it for this morning.  I want to get a bit caught up with my email and finish my blog reading before I have to get down to business here.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

My Cup Of Patience Does Not Runneth Over

March 29, 2011

Good morning. I'll try again this morning to see if Blogger will play nice today. It's comforting to know that I am not the only one with Blogger problems, however, it does not make me any happier with the situation.

I did try last night to fix whatever the problem was, but my posting was still quite messy. I must also admit that I just do not seem to have the patience that I need to deal with this sort of problem. I guess that is another thing for me to work on. (That particular list is growing!!)

There do not seem to be very many birds around here or at work lately, so I dug out an older photo from last winter (Feb 2010)  I believe these are Grackles, but first I have to check with my bird book. Usually, when these birds show up, they come in a large flock. After eating most of the food in the feeder, they move on to another area.

There is not much news today, except that a few of the dwarfs seem to have caught a nasty cold (hopefully not the stomach bug that seems to be making the rounds). Tootsie and I will have to be careful not to catch it too.

Today, I need to sit down and make some totals for my tax papers, and then hopefully I will be all set for my appointment on Thursday. With that, I will leave you. Till tomorrow (hopefully if Blogger behaves) Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Blogger Is Not Cooperating Today

March 28. 2011

Good morning. This is today's second posting. The first one isn't published yet because Blogger is giving me a wicked bad time. It runs all the sentences together, disrupts the placement of the photo, and leaves huge spaces between paragraphs - that's when it even lets me make paragraphs!

So I will try to post this with one photo, and then if that works, tomorrow I will try again. Sorry, but there's no way to argue with or question anyone at Blogger. The photo is one of some daffodils at work trying their best to blossom soon.

That's all for now. Hopefully, this will post without any more problems. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Have You Had Your Gummies Today?

I am going to try again to post this morning's blog post. Bear with me while I figure out what is going on with Blogger. It's just not cooperating today. Thanks for your patience. ********************************************************* March 28, 2011 ********************************************************* It's a gorgeous sunny morning here, but it's really a bit cool - only about 28 degrees F. The weatherman says it's supposed to warm up a bit this week to the mid 40's all week. Gosh, I hope so because all the Spring flowers are beginning to come up. Some are even starting to bloom. Here's a patch of daffodils that will be blossoming pretty soon. ******************** ************************************ I'm at work, so I'm not sure how long I can chat here. The Mrs. will be waking soon and then I must get busy here. I worked last night, and today I'm working for a friend who needed the day off. It's not so bad because she will work for me on Friday which will be good for me. ********************************************************* Janet came over yesterday to help me get the last of my tax stuff ready for my appointment on Thursday with the accountant. I just have to make a list of totals now, and hopefully I will be all set. I really must work on getting a better system for next year. ********************************************************* My memory is becoming quite a nuisance. Last night I locked myself out of the house for the second time in two months. Thank goodness Eddie has keys to my house so he can let me back in. I think my mind just gets so busy at times, that it forgets to focus on what I am doing in the moment. That's another thing I will have to work at. ********************************************************* Have you noticed how many new companies are getting on the "adult gummy vitamins" band wagon? For a while, it was hard to find a place that carried all of the adult gummy vitamins, but lately several stores have begun carrying them. This is good for people like me who have a problem with swallowing pills. After one or two days of trying to swallow pills, I just give up on them. They get stuck in my throat, and make me miserable. These gummy vitamins are a wonderful way for me to take my vitamins. Try them, you'll love them!! ********************************************************* Now I have to get busy here. I'll be back tomorrow with more photos. Till then, Y'all have a wonderful day. ********************************************************* Hugs, Edna B.

Jazzy's Award Ceremony

March 26, 2011
*
Good morning. The sun is shining brightly and I hope it can stay that way for the rest of the day. Tootsie and I have some errands to do, starting with her appointment this morning at the beauty salon.
*
Sorry I missed being here yesterday, but there was no internet at work for me to hook up to. Tootsie and I left at 6:15 am for work, and did not get home until 4 pm. Then I had to get ready to go to my granddaughter's award ceremony. Jazzy is a cheerleader, and and she and her teammates compete in competitions around the state.
*
Jazzy also got to sing the "Star Spangled Banner" at the beginning of the ceremony. Oh yes, Grandma was very proud, and Dee Dee and Eddie (Jazzy's Mom and Dad) were beaming from one ear to the other. This first photo is Jazzy singing the national anthem.

This last photo shows my granddaughter, Jazzy, holding my great granddaughter, Lilah. Am I proud of being so blessed? Oh yeah!!

I have more photos to share, but I'll save them for another day. I want to take more photos of my new car too. I'm still learning how to use all the features it has, but I'm getting there. I especially love the XM radio it has. I can listen to any kind of music with just a touch of a button. Imagine!!
*
Well, it's time for me to get dressed and get started on my busy day. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

Just Itching To Get Outdoors!

March 24, 2011
*
It's a lovely sunny morning, but still a bit on the cool side. While I'm putting on my jacket to go outside, Kyra is sunbathing in her garden. I guess the warm weather comes a little bit sooner in Holland than it does here.
*
Yesterday was spent working on getting everything ready for my tax appointment, which is coming up in a few days. I just have to go over a few more things, and then I think I'm ready. Wouldn't that be nice! I don't hate much, but I certainly do hate doing this tax stuff. Actually, I think it's mostly just psychological. If I would just take better care to keep everything in one spot, I would be okay.
*
Today, I think I will see that the laundry is caught up (work tomorrow), and just maybe Tootsie and I can go for a little ride to the park to take a few photos. The photo that I'm sharing today, is one that I took a few years ago at the same park, and is one of my favorites.
*

I usually take some bread and/or french fries with me. I toss a piece of food up into the air, and then click away. I keep my camera on continuous shoot, so that somewhere in amongst all the shots, I'm able to get at least one good photo.
*
I got a late start today, and it's almost lunch time. My day is running out too fast. I still have to go through my email, and I want to do a bit of blog reading too. I also have to go out and clean the new snow off my car. How about that!! We got a little snow last night and into the early morning. Not very much though, thank goodness!
*
I also have a couple of scatter rugs to put into the wash. Tootsie doesn't like being neglected, and has decided to decorate the rugs. God bless her little heart. She doesn't like to see me sitting idle for too long. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Today We Work On Our Taxes - Groan!!

March 23, 2011
*
The sun is shining, and it's a gorgeous Spring morning here in my little part of New England. I have taxes to work on today, but I'm hoping to get outside for at least a little while to enjoy the sunshine.
*
Yesterday, I did manage to get to the dealership and get a safety sticker for my car. Eddie and Dee Dee were with me, and oh boy! Can that man (Eddie) talk!! (better I should say "argue") While we were sitting in the waiting room at the dealership, there were two women already sitting there. After a little while, I spoke up and said "Ladies, would one of you like to take him home with you? He's free today." For a response, I got smiles.
*
A few more minutes later, I spoke up and said "Are you sure you don't want him Ladies? I'll pay you to take him." One lady looked up and said "How much?" At this point, Eddie got up and said he was going outside to look at all the new cars. (Of course, we wouldn't really give him away!)
*
When I went to pick up my car, guess what was sitting near it? Another car just like mine, only it was in the other color that I almost got. It was a light sage green, and it was just gorgeous!! But I'm still very happy with my garnet red car.
*
All my little birdies are coming back to the feeder now. I love their hearing them chirping outside my window. Here is another photo of one of the little woodpeckers having a go at one of the square feeders.
*

This next photo is what I see in the mornings I'm leaving work to go home. A lot of the birds gather in a tree across the street and call out to their friends and families. I suppose this is when they share stories about where the best feeders and treats are in the neighborhood. Who knows? To me, seeing them there is a great way to start my day.
*
Now I need to catch up with some of my emails, and finish my morning blog reading. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.

My Creative Mind Is Busy Again

March 22, 2011
*
Good morning. It's still a bit gray outside, but hopefully it will get brighter soon. I did not get out yesterday to do my errands, so today I really must hop to it! I have a couple of people coming out today (one this morning and one this evening) to see about a room.
*
I know there is sometimes a question about how I can get a clear shot of something with my camera "hand held." Most of the time, (when I am outdoors) I use continuous shoot mode on my camera. And yes, I am not the steadiest, but if you stand really still and hold your breath, you will usually get at least one or two pretty good shots. Other times, I lean against my car for a bit of steadiness. I much prefer to use my tripod, but it is not always feasable.
*
Yesterday, Su and I decided on a theme and color pallet for the April kit. Oh my, I had a grand time with it, and you'll never guess!! I finished the whole kit by 10 pm last night! I still have to get it packaged and uploaded, but I was really pleased with myself by the time I crawled into my little bed.
*
How about a couple of photos of a cute little woodpecker who was sitting on a tree limb watching me unload things from my car? He is just a tiny little thing, and he never took his eyes off me. I really do love the expression on his face in the second photo. It's as if he is saying "Will you hurry up down there! I want to get to the feeder."
*

I called to see how the Mrs. was doing yesterday, but so far there is no news. The doctors had done a lot of tests, but there were no results yet. Maybe I'll hear some news today.
*
Now I must get ready to start my busy day. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a marvelous day.

The Last Two Parts Of "Cat In A Basket"

March 21, 2011
*
It's a bit gray her this morning, and I think we may have a bit or rain and/or snow coming, but it's Spring, so I can manage it. I have to go out and get my safety sticker for my car later today, and possibility pick up a few things at the market.
*
Did you get to read the second part of Queen Jester's short story "Wrong Number"? Wow, what a surprising ending! I enjoyed it, but you'll have to go and read it yourself. Today, she has a fascinating live cam that is on an Eagle Nest. This is something that I've never seen before.
*
While coming home from Taunton this past Saturday, I noticed that the clouds looked really weird and handed my camera to Eddie and had him take some photos. There was a huge dark cloud hanging down in a sort of fat funnel shape. I've never really noticed one of these before, and don't know what causes them or what they mean.
*
Here are a couple of those photos. If you know what causes this, do let me know.
*

I did not have to go to work last night, because the Mrs. was not feeling very well and had to go to the hospital. When I finish posting here, I will call to see how she is doing.
*
Today, I am also posting the last two parts of "Cat In A Basket" for you. Once you have download these, hop on over to Su's blog and pick up her parts.
*
Here are my download links:
*
Now I'm off to see what kind of mschief Miss Tootsie and I can get into today. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a great day.

Yeah! Spring Is Here!!

March 20, 2011
*
Happy Spring time folks. It's quite lovely outdoors even if it is a bit cool. There was even frost on everything early this morning. However, it's finally Spring, and things will be looking up now.
*
Did anyone go out and try to get photos of that fantastic full moon last night? I was at work when the moon finally got high enough for me to see. But in between checking on the Mrs., I kept popping outside to try to get some photos. I would have loved to set up the tripod, but that isn't always feasible when you're supposed to be working. These photos are the best I could get hand held.
*

Earlier however, shortly after I arrived at work, I looked out to see several deer grazing across the street in the field. So of course, I grabbed my camera and went out to get a few shots. This first photo is to show you how far away they were, and the second photo is using the zoom.
*
This morning on my way home, I stopped at Dunkin Donuts to pick up coffee and breakfast for Joe. (He babysits with Tootsie at night while I'm at work.) They had a brand new egg and bacon and toast sandwich, so I thought I would try that. To be honest, it was good, but a bit too much for me. It was actually a "man size" sandwich.
*
That's it for this morning, but if you like short stories head on over to the Queen Jester's blog and catch the first installment of her new short story "Wrong Number." Till tomorrow, Y'all have a marvelous first day of Spring!

Mirror, Mirror, On The Wall

March 19, 2011
*
Well, it's back to the cooler weather this morning. The sun is shining but the temp has dropped back to about 46F. Not to dismay though, Spring is only hours away. WooHoo!!
*
Eddie will be arriving in a little while to go with me to the car dealership to turn in the title to my old car. I had applied for a new one, and it came while I was away on vacation. Tootsie had an appointment at the beauty salon this morning, but she has not been feeling up to par so I changed it to next weekend. I hope whatever little bug she has picked up is gone soon. It hurts to see her eyes looking so sad.
*
I have more photos of "Friday's Birdies" to share. I have several bird books that I refer to for the names of the birds that I photograph. But I do make mistakes, so feel free to correct me when I post an incorrect name. This is how I learn. The first photo is a juvenile Red Winged Blackbird. I don't see this little bird very often, so this was a treat.
*

My next photo is of a little Pine Siskin, which is part of the Finch family.
*
In this next photo, I was mainly focusing on the yellow on the end of the wing feathers of this little Siskin..
*

Now I really must get going here. I still have to get dressed. Mustn't scare the daylights out of my son in law!! Plus I have to put my new beauty cream on. It's supposed to get rid of my wrinkles and make me beautiful. Hmmmm. We'll see. This is only day three. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

Another Gorgeous Sunny Day

March 18, 2010
*
I'm a tad bit late, but that's what happens when your laptop has no internet, and you have to go to work. Today has been just gorgeous, sunny and in the 60's. Even though the wind has been huffing and puffing all day, it hasn't been able to ruin a perfectly delightful day.
*
Because it's so late in the afternoon, I'll keep this post short. I do have some photos to share. One would think that with all the fair weather we have had in the past few weeks, that all of the snow would be gone by now. But that's not the case. The past two days have been in the sixties, and there are still large patches and small mounds of snow all over the place. This is one of the photos that I took as I was leaving work this afternoon. Mind you, it's been in the sixties for two days now, and last night never went below 50. (F) This photo is of the field across the street from work.
*
Late in the morning, a gorgeous Cardinal walked right up to the patio door looking for some spilled seeds, and I managed to get a few shots of him.
*
My friend Wayne should be back from his vacation in Hawaii tonight or tomorrow, so I'm hoping that he can fix my laptop real soon. I am so lost without it! Tonight, I'll transfer the next two parts of "Cat In A Basket" over to my PC so that I will be able to get them posted for you on Monday.
*
That's it for today. There's not much news, and it's almost time for me to start our supper. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful evening.
*

Happy St. Patrick's Day

March 17, 2011
*
Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. It's a gorgeous warm and sunny day here in New England. Although I haven't been out yet, I plan to go out in a little while to do some errands. I have just spent the better part of the morning going through and paying the bills. After that ordeal, I need to be out in the sunshine for a while.
*
Two weeks ago, while I was at the airport in Boston (waiting to go to Florida) I noticed a life sized figurine of a Red Sox baseball player that was on display. Of course, I got out my camera and took some photos. I should have also got a photo of the back of the shirt so that I could see the number printed there. However, the bat is numbered 08, so I do believe that this is supposed to be Carl Yastrzemski.
*

What a great likeness! (If I'm wrong, don't be afraid to speak up and let me know.) Yesterday, I googled and found this print, done by Dave Olsen, that was a newspaper tribute to Carl Yastrzemski. His career went from 1961 to 1983. That's quite an accomplishment.
*

Now I think I'll go see if my laundry is done, and get ready to so out and get some of my errands done. Before I leave, Tootsie says thank you for her Birthday wishes. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a wonderful day.
*
Hugs, Edna B.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOOTSIE!!!

March 16, 2011,
*
It's a sleepy, rainy day here in New England. Last night was not a good night for sleeping so Tootsie and I got up around 5 am and I did a bit of blog reading. Then around 7, we went back to bed and got a bit of sleep. Just can't seem to get out of my own way today. I was going to go out for a bit today, but I think I'll just wait till tomorrow. I'm not as adventurous in my old age. Things like rain and snow tend to keep me housebound.
*
I found out why I couldn't reach Wayne by telephone. He finally called me back and you'll never guess where he is. Hawaii!!!! Now that's one place I think I would like to see one day. Wow, imagine the photo ops there are in Hawaii. At least, that's how I perceive it to be. Wayne will be home the end of the week, and hopefully he will be able to fix the internet on my laptop.
*
Thank goodness for thumb drives. It seems I'm always putting stuff from the laptop on it and bringing it over to the PC, and vice versa. One of these days I'll get smart and just carry my little 1TB portable drive around with me.
*
We have a birthday to celebrate too. My little girl is now 8 years old!!!!! I will have to think of something special for her supper tonight. It doesn't seem possible that eight years have just flown by. She's still a puppy to me. And to think, had I listened to the vet we used to have, I'd have lost out on the last five years of joy with her. He was the one who told me to be kind and put her to sleep because it would cost too much money to treat her medically. Shame on him!!!
*
Now I have to take a little break, and gather up some photos from my laptop. Be right back.....okay, I'm back. Today, I have some photos of what I call the "palm family." There are so many different kinds of plants and trees in this family. These are just two of the kinds to be found at my Florida condo. (timeshare)
*

This next photo shows the beautiful azalea bush right outside my door. Such a cheerful thing to see in the winter time.
*
Now I think I need to get going here. Daughter in law has just got here, and I want to start preparing supper. Once that is done, I can sit and have a nice visit. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.
*

It's Starting To Look Like Spring

March 15, 2011,
*
The sun is shining this morning, and the world looks a bit brighter. Yesterday, I heard lots of birds chirping outside in my yard, so hopefully we will have lots of visitors this year. I'm hoping to put up some new bird nests and feeders, and even a squirrel feeder.
*
For Christmas this year, I received two bird magazine subscriptions. "Birds & Blooms" from my friend Mary Ann, and "Wild Bird" from my friend Miss Bea. They are filled with so many wonderful ideas on how to make nests and feeders, and what to plant that will attract different types of birds and butterflies. Thank you ladies for the many enjoyable hours of reading.
*
Today, I have the preview for Miss Su's part of the new kit "Cat In The Basket" so I'll post it for you now. If you haven't already picked up her part, just click on her name and it will take you to her blog.
*

For photos today, I have a series of photos that I took of this little Egret (I think it is called a Cattle Egret, but not sure yet.) gobbling up some of the pieces of burger roll that I tossed out the car window. There was a gull and a crow there too, so this little guy was trying to get his fair share.
*

This little Egret was so eager to pose for pictures that I couldn't help myself and ended up with a couple hundred neat photos. Not bad for a lunch break!!
*
I want to thank my readers for giving me the name of that gorgeous red plant from yesterday. It's called a "Bottlebrush plant", and can either be a shrub or a tree. Either way, it's gorgeous. Kyra even sent me a link for looking up some Florida flora, so later on I will do just that. Thank's Kyra.
*
If you haven't been to Kyra's blog lately, you won't want to miss her new kit for making a children's book. It's quite delightful, and if you download it, take a moment to say thank you.
*
A new friend, Queen Jester, was celebrating Albert's (Einstein) birthday and I thought I might join her by eating some cake. I did not have cake, but I did have pink snowballs and so I ate those. Now I do not want to see another pink snowball for a long long time!! My waistline is threatening to shut me right out of my new jeans.
*
I'm off now to see what kind of mischief I can get in to today. Maybe I'll even do a tad bit of housework too. Oh Lord, did I just say that? I really dislike housework with a passion. Unfortunately, it doesn't go away when you ignore it!! Till tomorrow, Y'all have a marvelous day.

Two More Parts Of "Cat In The Basket"

March 14, 2011,
*
Good morning. 'Tis a cool gray morning here in my little part of New England. This week promises to be in the 40's and 50's, so I'm thinking that surely Spring is not too far off. There are bits of green poking through the dirt in my little garden, so I think I'll uncover my hibiscus plant this week. Hopefully, it made it through the Winter unharmed. When Moo gave it to me last summer, it had huge white blooms the size of dinner plates. So I have my hopes up that it will do the same this year.
*
Last night was a good work night. The Mrs. was actually glad to see me. Usually, she reserves her cranky side for me, but I guess it's true that absence makes the heart grow fonder. It felt strange not having the internet at my disposal, but I used the time to read some of my magazines that came while I was away. Two of them were flower catalogues. Woo Hoo!! I want one of everything!!
*
I think I might like to order some purple hydrangeas, and a few plants that will attract hummingbirds and butterflies. I also want to plant some new hedge plants. My hedges out front are very old and sparse. They need something to fill in all the bare spots. I just have to make up my mind if I want hedge roses, hedge rose of sharon, or fiery red hedges. Oh my!! Such a problem!!
*
Speaking of flora, I have two photos to share of the beautiful flora in Florida. This plant was like a tree, with large fuzzy rosy red blossoms. I don't know the name of it but it is just simply beautiful!!

Driving my new car to work last night was quite an experience. I had taken the time to figure out the headlights and the wipers, but I did not need them. I did not, however, read up on how to work the radio, so I was just poking buttons and getting nowhere fast.
*
Then this morning I tried to lock the doors while the car motor was running to warm things up a bit, but found that I could not get them to lockwith the automatic door lock. So I locked them the old fashioned way, by pressing the lock button from the inside. This made another problem because now I could not open them with the new automatic door opener. Back to the old fashioned way with a key. I guess I have a bit of reading up to do this week before I go too far in my car.
*
I do not have a preview yet for Su's part of the kit, but when I get one I will come back in and post it. Now it's time to do a few things around here. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

There's No Place Like Home

March 12, 2011,
*
Good morning. Tootsie and I are safely back home now, and oh boy, it felt so good to sleep in my own little bed. Our plane was a bit late leaving Orlando, and so we were about 20 minutes late getting back into Boston. But Eddie and Kevin (my youngest grandson) were there waiting to pick us up and take us home.
*
As for the snow that was here when I left two weeks ago, it's just about all gone. There are only a couple of small piles left and they probably won't be here much longer. Gosh, I can see my yard now. All those beautiful (?) pine needles!! Think about it, they're not really beautiful, but if it's a choice between several feet of snow and plain brown pine needles, the pine needles certainly become beautiful.
*
The trip to Florida was Tootsie's first time flying, and I have to tell you, she did really good. On the flight home, she figured out how to unzip the cover on her travel bag, and spent most of the flight sitting up with her head poking out of the carry bag. She made friends everywhere, even on the plane.
*
The other day at a flea market, an older gentleman came towards us, and smiled and said "Good afternoon, Grandma." I smiled back, and then he leaned down to do the "kootchy kootchy koo" thing to the baby. (I was pushing Tootsie's pink stroller with her in it.) Imagine his surprise when he saw that the baby was a little doggie. After he got done laughing at it all, he said "What a marvelous idea for your little dog. And she looks so happy!" We ran into this a lot in Florida. I guess folks there never saw a doggie stroller.
*
It really is good to be home though, except for problems with my laptop. It has no internet!!!!! I don't know what is wrong, but it is driving me crazy!! Today, I'm posting this using my desk PC. I called Wayne to see if he can tell me how to fix the problem, but he is nowhere to be found. Hopefully, I will still have some hair left on my head by the end of this week!!
*
I have some photos to share this morning. I took these two photos because of the reflections. I found this tiny little pond-like pool of water behind a building, and there lots of birds wading in it looking for food. One is an Ibis, and the other is an Egret, I'm just not sure which type of Egret it is.
*

Tonight it's back to work for bonzo here, so I have a bit of laundry to do, and then I want to catch up on my blog reading. That's one of the things that I missed the most in Florida. After that, I want to get acquainted with my new car so that I know how to find the headlights and the windshield wipers before I leave for work.
*
So that's it for now. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantabulous day.

Extra Post For World Cancer Day

March 11, 2011,
*
I just wanted to post this extra post to remind everyone of World Cancer Day. Please take a moment to say a little prayer for all those we love who have succumbed to this dreaded disease, and for those who are still battling with it on a daily basis.
*
If you could, please pass this candle on and keep it burning for our loved ones. Thanks so much.

Our Last Day Of Vacation

March 11, 2011,
*
Good morning. It's simply gorgeous this morning, sunny, not too hot and a lovely breeze. Gosh, this would be fantastic year round weather. Dream on, Edna!
*
Tootsie and I got up early this morning, put out the trash, had breakfast and returned the rental car. Already, I miss the car. I know that it's mostly in my mind. As long as there is a car outside my door, I have the freedom to move about as I wish. BUT, today is our last day to enjoy the Florida sunshine so we will just relax today.
*
This will have to be a short post as there is already a line waiting for this connection. But I do have some photos to share with you. I have three lovely photos of the beautiful bird from the parking lot at Burger King yesterday. as I said, I'm not sure of it's name, but I'm positive of it's beauty. If you know what it is, please let me know. I don't have any of my bird books here with me.

Woo Hoo! It's Our Turn At The Internet Hookup!!

March 10, 2011,
*
Well good evening. There's lots to say but not lots of time. Any minute now I could get kicked off the one and only laptop hookup here.
*
My friend Su got really homesick and had a friend pick her up and take her home. She hasn't been away from her family for this long a time so I can understand her getting homesick. But, now it's a bit lonely here. Tuesday I had a sore throat, and just laid low. Wednesday was another lazy day for Tootsie and me. But come afternoon, we got dressed and ready to go out and face the world, and OH NO!! It was raining. Well, we tried.
*
This morning we slept in late, and then went to find the local post office to mail a box home. After that, we found us a Burger King and had us a rather tasty lunch. Tootsie much prefers burgers to doggie food. so she was tickled pink.
*
As we sat in the car eating our burgers, a beautiful bird landed on the hood of a car two cars down from us. Wow!! You never know where your next photo op will turn up. Of course, I got out my camera and shot away (on continuous shoot). Next time I get to post, I'll have some of those photos for you.
*
After leaving there, we watched a helicopter take off with some tourists. Hmmmm, well, I've scrapped that idea. It wouldn't be fun for Tootsie and I won't leave her in the car alone. There's always another year.
*
We stopped at Walmart to pick up goodies for supper, and headed on home. Once there, we put away the food, packed up the laptop and headed on over to the computer room. Wowee!! It was empty. This is our lucky day. Wrong!!! We got all hooked up, and NO INTERNET! After several minutes of trying to get it to work, I called the office only to be told that the internet was down and they did not know when it would be up. Murphy's Law at work here!
*
It's after suppertime now, and as you can see the internet is working again. I'm going to share a couple of photos now before I have to give someone else a turn here. This first photo is one of the palm trees outside my door. Inside the circle that I have drawn on it, is what Su tells me are wild orchids.

And here is a closeup of the orchids. You really don't have to look very far to find beauty. It's everywhere.
*

I'm still trying to catch up on my blog reading and sorting through some of my mail. If I haven't been by your blog lately to leave some comments, please be patient. As soon as I can sit here long enough, I will get to everything. Tootsie and I will come back over here tomorrow and try again. Till then, Y'all have a wonderful evening.

Seems Like My Brain Has Gone On Vacation Without Me!

March 7, 2011,
*
It's a bit cool this morning so far, only around 72 degrees F. But oh boy, I can handle this!! I've been a bit scatter brained lately. I picked up my rental car last week and after only a day or two had to put more gas into the fuel tank. Yesterday, we went to a local flea market and on the way noticed that the fuel was low again. This HHR that we are riding around in is just sucking that fuel down like it was soda pop!
*
While we were re-fueling, Su was chatting with the man who runs the gas station. The pump stopped pumping fuel, so the man tried to help figure what was wrong because it was only taking a small amount of fuel. Seems the gas tank on the car was full. We decided that we must have a faulty fuel gauge on the car. We thanked him for his help, and went on our way.
*
While we were sitting at a red light, I noticed that the fuel gauge looked strange. Oh boy! It finally hit home! This gas gauge is backward from the one in my car. DUH!!! I've been trying yto fill a full tank!!! You know the saying "Here's your sign?" Well, here's my sign!!! (Jeff Foxworthy)
*
Today I want to post the preview for Su's QP's. They really are adorable, so don't forget to hop on over to Su's blog and pick them up.
*

I may have to compromise on my helicopter ride. Seems this is not Su's cup of tea, and most likely not Tootsie's either. But that's okay. I'm sure we'll find something that we all can enjoy. There are so many interesting places to visit here.
*
I have a couple of photos to share of Tootsie chilling out on her wee pads. I put her little blanket down for her to lay on, but she's finding these more comfy. This gal really has a mind of her own. I have to keep my eye on her because there is a nice big scatter rug in the living room area and I've caught Tootsie eyeing it once or twice. Keeps me on my toes!
*
On that note, I'll leave. I have a ton of email to go through. Till my next internet connection, Y'all have a wonderful day.
