Goodbye Henrietta. Rest In Peace.

August 8, 2011

Folks, last night Henrietta was just lying there on the window sill, dead as a doornail.  Poor thing did her motherly job and now she's gone.   I did a bit of research on the symbolic meaning and lifespan of the grasshopper.

The grasshopper is a messenger of resourcefulness, joy and honor.  It is considered a good luck symbol in Japan, indicating fresh starts, growth and health.  However, it has a very short lifespan.  Once the egg becomes a mature adult, it only lives about 30 days.  That's just long enough to mate, lay eggs, and then you die.

Far be it for me to argue with Mother Nature's plan for the grasshopper.  But I think that this is one of those times that sex is not good for you.  No sir, if I were a grasshopper, I'd be the old maid auntie and live longer.  I wonder why fleas, ticks and mosquitos get to live longer?

Now it's time to bring you our brand new collab kit, "Tropical Sunset."  Su picked out the color palette and the theme for this month's kit,  and is it ever pretty.  If you like warm, sunny Island living with it's beautiful flora and fauna, you'll love "Tropical Sunset."  This is my preview for Parts 1 & 2.

And here is your download link:  EXPIRED

Once you've downloaded, do stop by Su's blog to pick up her first two parts.  Don't forget to take a moment to say thank you.  Here is a preview of Su's parts.

I'm still at work, and it's time now to check on the Mrs. and start getting ready to go home.  I hope you enjoy our new kit.  Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fabulous day.

Hugs, Edna B.

I have never seen a lovelier tribute to a grasshopper. She would have been pleased.

Poor Henrietta, she's gone. Hopefully she will bring forth some lovely children! Did you ever gave a thought to the male grashopper????? After a lot of trying and pleading, he is allowed to have sex, once! And when he has done his job, the women grashopper just eats him! What a way to die!
But I must say, the tribute to Henrietta is beautiful! ROFL>
Have a great day!
