A Treat For Me

September 2, 2010
*
What a fantastic morning we are enjoying. It's about 78 degrees, and the sun is not too hot yet. Of course, it's not quite 8 am. Tootsie and I are being lazy this morning. Yesterday was quite busy, so we're enjoying an easy morning today.
*
At first, we were expecting Hurricane Earl to hit sometime today, but the timing has changed. Now it is expected maybe Friday or Saturday. We'll have to keep a close watch for this. Right now, it seems to be gearing up to make a nasty hit very close to where my daughter Audrey lives.

Do you like gems and stones and jewelry? I have always been fascinated with them. As a little girl, I used to collect all sorts of beautiful rocks. As an adult, I still love them but I also adore gems. The way they grow and how they are shaped, and the many colors they all come in is very exciting.
*
I remember the first time a friend took me to a gem and jewelry trade show. Oh boy!!! I thought I had died and gone to heaven!! One of my favorite memories from that show was the sapphire table. I must have looked pretty foolish with my mouth hanging open and a glossy, dreamy look in my eyes.
*
The tables and showcases were filled with thousands of loose sapphires and the most exquisite jewelry. And the colors!!!!! Oh my, it looked like a sea of pastel candies. And the nice part? Holding hundreds of loose sapphires in my hands, and trying on some of the rings. This surely had to be heaven.

Last week, one of the TV shopping channels was celebrating an anniversary and showcasing some spectacular jewelry. So of course I spent many hours watching this, and drooling over all the gorgeous glitz and glamour of the different colored gems.

*One item in particular kept peaking my interest. They had a sapphire eternity ring featured with a special price for one day only. It came in simply delicious colors. Orange, yellow, white, pink, blue and multi-colored. I really did try very hard to be good and not buy anything. Honest, I did. But before the night was over, I went online and bought myself the orange sapphire ring. But then I really wanted the yellow one too. And the pink one. Actually, I wanted them all. What to do? I finally settled on the orange one and the multi-colored one. Happy Saturday, Edna, Happy Saturday!! (this took place last Saturday night)
*
Surprise, surprise, my treats arrived in yesterday's mail. It took all of two minutes to open the package and put both rings on my finger. Even with all the wrinkles, my hand is just beautiful now. LOL. Here's a picture of my rings. (I copied them from the shopping website) Happy drooling!!

Last night, Tootsie and I watched "America's Got Talent" to see which contestants would be moving into the finals. Tootsie was quite comfy, sprawled across the pillow that she had earlier confiscated from Moo. She was relieved that this month's chemo was over. Doesn't she look just adorable?
*

Before I leave you to start my day, I want to show you a photo of my gorgeous white hibiscus plant that Moo bought for me last week. A few days ago, I planted it outside. It was covered with tons of buds, but a lot of them did not survive the move. However, there were still a lot of buds left. Yesterday morning, two huge dinner plate size buds blossomed. Oh my!! Simply gorgeous!!!

Okay, now I really must get going here. Time to get dressed and start the new day. Till tomorrow, Y'all have a fantastic day.

The hibiscus looks beautiful!! I remember the time when we were on holiday on Malta, and there they were just growing "in the wild"and meters high sizes and all kind of colours! Then I was drooling, knwing I never would have such beauties like that!
Hope you spend the day in a bit lazy mood, it's just doing good sometimes!
Have a fantastic day
