Furniture Woes For Me

October 7, 2009

Oh yuks, it is raining and a bit cold this morning. Well first let me tell you about my big day yesterday. The furniture delivery came right on time. The sun was shining and it was quite pleasantly warm outside. I already had my second load of laundry going, and I was getting excited about the new stuff.

Well, that's about where it all stopped. The men brought in the electric fireplace, uncrated it and started to finish it's assembly. When they were finished, one look at the front of the mantle was all it took to see the great big scar. Somehow this huge blemish got past the quality control people at the manufacturer's plant. I'm not really sure how, but it doesn't really matter. I told them I could not accept it like this. The men put in a call to the store and made arrangements to have the mantle replaced next week. Otherwise, the fireplace is just beautiful.

Next, we go to the TV console. Need I say that it was a really lovely piece of furniture, and I was quite pleased with it. UNTIL I took a closer look and saw several nicks and scratches, and a rather large splintered bubble on the bottom shelf right in the front. I must have the words STUPID imprinted on my face. Did the delivery guys really think I would accept this? Once again, I handed them the phone and told them to make arrangements for a replacement.

I just got a call from the store telling me that my new TV console will be delivered this Friday between 6:30 and 9:30 am. I'm sure this means that they will be here right about 6:30 sharp!! groan, groan, groan. So much for any extra winks that morning.

Yesterday when I was talking about the laundry, I was sure I was the only person in the world who actually enjoyed doing laundry. Well, the comments left put a huge smile on my face. I guess I am not so different after all. Speaking of laundry, I remember when I was just a kid in high school. My mom had a "wringer" washing machine. But my brother and I had to stand at the sink with a scrub board and do our own laundry. We then hung it out on the clothesline, finished cleaning our room, did our chores, and managed to fit in some play time. Later, we would bring in our laundry, fold some of it, iron the rest of it, and put it all away. Funny I should still enjoy laundry, but not housework.

Moving on now to my Halloween QP's. Did you all enjoy yesterday's? If you only knew how much fun I was having making these. It just delighted me to no end to think that maybe skeletons could be in love too. Why not? This time of year there are lots of movies showing them running loose with the mummies and ghoulies wreaking havoc on townspeople. I thought I would like to bring out a more humorous side to the subject.

How about another one? This one is called "Waiting For You." Here we have the lovely little Mrs all dressed up in her beautiful hat, relaxing with Kitty and waiting for the Mr to come home to the lovely dinner she has prepared for them. Or something like that. It took me more than an hour to get her hands and bony fingers around Kitty.

While I have been playing here, the rain has stopped and the sun is shining. Perhaps we will be blessed with another gorgeous day like yesterday. Oh, wouldn't that be ever so nice. I will go now to see what kind of mischief I can cook up for today. Y'all have a wonderful day now.

Hugs, Edna B.
