Baa Baa Baa

March 31, 2009

Today is a beautiful day, so I guess ole March will be going out like a lamb again. That's okay with me, I just love the Springtime. The birds are busy building nests, and chirping outside the window, the flowers are pushing their way up through the dirt, and the sun is getting so much warmer. This is truly a beautiful season.

I have another beautiful award to share with you. This one comes to me from my good friend, Kyra @http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com, Thank you so much my friend for starting my day off with a huge smile. These awards really do make my day much brighter.

The rules are very simple: Acknowledge the person who gave you the award, nominate some other deserving bloggers and list their blog addresses, and finally, send each one a message letting them know that they have been nominated for the award.

My nominees are:
Deb @ http://thescrappincop.blogspot.com/
Lady Shannon @ http://ladyshannonmemoriewsmadeeasy.blogspot.com/
Bonnie @ http://bonniecarter.blogspot.com/
Davonna @ http://chroniclesofnani.blogspot.com/

I have spent the afternoon working with Photoshop brushes, trying to create some new things. This proved to be very interesting and fruitful. I never really used the brushes too much. Gosh, I just love new toys. Don't know I waited so long to play with them. I'll have to put some of my new stuff together in a little bag for you.

A little while ago, we were enjoying a video call with Snow Raven, and her son figured out how to get the sound working with the picture. What a delightful time we had. Never knew you could have so fun with a computer. Can you imagine what a complete geek I would be if I had known how to do all of this when I first got a computer?

Well, I think I'd better get back to my creating before it's gone for the day. Y'all have a wonderful night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Castles And Fairy Flags, Oh My!

March 30, 2009

March is going out in a wet way. Rain, rain and more rain. Oh well, we probably do need all that rain for all the gorgeous flowers that are going to popping open any day now. I just have to figure out a way to keep my bird feeder and the seed dry. As soon as I fill it, the rains come and turn it to something nasty. Well, that's a new project for Moo.

God love Tootsie, I think I wore her out a bit playing catch with the ball. On second thought, maybe I spoke too soon. She's back with that spitty old ball in her mouth. You just gotta love her.

Us scrapper gals were on the chat line late again last night. I must say that it was a very interesting and informative chat. We giggle a lot, but we learn a lot. And this wasn't even the regular forum chat. We discussed a bit about our ancestry, and I looked up a castle in my family background that even has a fairy flag. Sound interesting? Let me put some info together, and I will share this with you.

I also spent some time chatting with a most wonderful young man whose 17th birthday began a couple of hours ago. What a delightful and very interesting person he is. You've done a great job with him Snowy. Of course, I'm referring to Snow Raven's son .

Today, I did manage to finish up two challenges and get them uploaded to the forum at Magickal Scraps. I had some kitchen papers to make and pack up, and then I had to do the Book of Shadows challenge, which was to tell about we used to (or do) celebrate Easter Sunday. This one, I will share with you tonight.

I think the rain is messing up my energy system. I came in from work this morning, played with my little girl for a bit, then did a few things on the computer, and then had to go to bed for an all afternoon nap. Either this is my "golden years" blossoming or it's the rain. I like to think it's the rain.

This week, I think Snow Raven is going to help me get some music set up here on the blog. That should make it nice. Nothing loud, I'm not into the hot and heavy loud stuff.

I'm off now to check on some more history. Mary Ann, if you're reading this, I'm glad you like that new camera - it's a beauty, all right. Y'all have a fantastic night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Rain, Rain, Enough Is Enough!

March 29, 2009

Well will wonders never cease? Daughter #1 posted on her blog again. It was nice to see her back on it. She's already busy with her next doe for the world competition in May I think. Good luck Audrey.

Rain, rain and more rain. It's wet, gray and raw. And I am very sleepy in this kind of weather. So today, I did the barest of things, and took Tootsie and went to bed for a nice long nap. Mmmmmm. It was just what I needed. Didn't make Tootsie too happy, she wanted to play, but Mommy needed the sleep.

Hopefully, tonight I might get something accomplished. I'd like to finish up some kits I'm working on for the forum shop. Plus my freebies for here. I won't forget my readers.

Yesterday we had some grand fun trying out the video calls from the laptops. Snow Raven and me, and then Audrey and me. So far, we have gotten half of it down pat. With Snowy and me, we got the picture but no sound. With Audrey and me, we got the sound, but no picture. We will figure it out yet. But in the meanwhile, we had a grand time.

On my way to work tonight, I stopped at Dunkin Donuts to get coffee, and I saw Robins, very busy chirping away and looking for goodies in the grass. Spring has done sprung!!

If you're a camera enthusiast, check out Canon's newest baby coming out really soon. I think May 1. It's the "Canon Rebel X1i. They've combined a lot of the super nifty stuff from the 50D and the Mark III(I think that's the model) and put it all in this terrific new camera. I think I'm in love. I still have to do some research, but I think this one might have my name on it. On that note, y'all have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

An Early Start Today

March 28, 2009

Here I am at this unforgiving hour of the morning. My day to sleep late, but I got up early to make you a QP from Snow Raven's new Bonnie Scotland Braveheart kit. I even played a little bit of ball with Tootsie already. It doesn't take much to put a smile on her beautiful little face.

I'm looking at my calendar hanging on the wall, and do you believe? Only three more days left in March - not counting today. Don't turn your back too quickly, you'll miss all the good Christmas sales. Oh please, not too soon. I want to enjoy Spring, Summer and Autumn first.

All my flowers are pushing their way up through the dirt. It's almost time to think about setting up some sort of planting arrangement for my tomatoes. Have to think about a new grill for the yard too. We all like barbeque suppers. When summer is over, we'll have to hide it from the snow plow guy. Every year, he delights in wiping out our barbeque grill. I always thought these guys had to go to driving school like the rest of us. lol.

Although I've been quite busy these past few days, I still don't have all my challenges finished. I just don't seem to have enough hours when my creative mind is ready to work. Let's face it, growing old and slowing down is just not a fun cup of tea. It changes one's whole lifestyle and way of thinking. My mind says "Oh yes, yes!" and the body say "Hey you! Slow down!"

Want an update on the quinine water (tonic water with quinine)? It seems to help quite a bit. The cramps are fewer and not so extreme. I need to invest in the company. I also need to stop at the supermarket on my way to work, and pick up more because I am almost out of it.

I'm off now to start the rest of my day, and see what kind of trouble I can get into. My little girl is sitting here beside me holding her beloved dead ball in her mouth. Almost time to tape it up again. We do this about once a week. Now there's a fun thing for you. Try holding a spitty ball that is split in two together while you tape it up, trying not to put too much tape on it - just enough to do the job. Too much tape causes it to lose some of it's flavor. That just wouldn't do.

That's it! I'm gone. Y'all have a fantastic day. Enjoy your QP.

Hugs, Edna B.

Busy, Busy, Busy

March 27, 2009

I know, I know, I'm late again. But I've been busy finishing up my part in the June DD's. You'd be surprised how much work goes into these DD freebies. And the kits just keep getting better and better. Alas, I cannot even give you a hint yet - it's much too early. You'll just have to keep going to the forum and wait. Meanwhile, this month's kit is beautiful. I sure hope y'all have been grabbing up all the parts. Once the month is over, the kit is only available for purchase in the forum shop.

Last winter (2007/2008) Snow Raven created a gorgeous kit "Bonnie Scotland." Well, it's been dug out of the mothballs, and re-invented. Freshened up with some new stuff added for a bit of spice. She will be giving the parts to it out as freebies on her blog starting tomorrow. So be sure to stop by to pick it up, and don't forget to say thank you.

First think the morning, I will pick up the kit and make you a QP freebie to go with it. Right now, it's late, so I'm going to make this short, and go hop into bed. Y'all have wonderful dreams.

Hugs, Edna B.

Sorry, Lost A Day Somewhere

March 26, 2009

Gosh, see what happens when one gets busy? When I wasn't looking, I lost a day somewhere along the way. I need to be careful about that sort of thing. I can't afford to be losing days. Mostly, I have been busy trying to finish up my part of the June daily downloads. My creative juices must have got spilled out in the driveway, because I sat for hours wracking this old brain, and accomplishing nothing much.

Finally at an early bedtime, Tootsie and I took our snacks and curled up to watch TV instead. Today, I got smart and asked for ideas. That did it. I got so busy finally, that I got my parts almost finished. Just a tad more and I can wrap it all up. Whew! Now I feel better.

However, I did start to run out of playtime. It is now once again, bedtime. Work comes very early in the morning. Me thinks I will just post you a lovely freebie, and take my little kid and hop into bed. Y'all have sweet dreams and a good night.

Hugs, Edna B.

A New Contest

March 24, 2009

It's early morning, and I've been playing with one of Obsidian Dawn's brushes so that I can take part in a contest she is having. She gave us a choice of two brush sets - I chose Tech Stuff. The idea is to use the specified brushes to create something, and post it on her blog.

After playing a bit with the brushes, I did what I do best, I made a piece of paper and a frame, and then turned that into a quick page, leaving room for someone to personalize a bit more. So, I thought it would be nice to give you the QP as a freebie. I will post it at the bottom along with another terrific photo of the taxidermy competition. Today's photo includes Audrey's hubby, Mac and his award winning duck.

Time to get dressed now and go for Tootsie's morning appointment. We'll be back soon.............

We're back - just one more treatment late this afternoon and she's done for another six weeks. The poor little darling shakes wicked on the ride to the hospital and makes me feel so bad for her, but I know that this is what is keeping her going.

Today I really must get some more stuff done on the pc. I have challenges still to do, and kits to finish. Isn't it just wonderful to be alive and so busy? I counted my blessings today, and have to say that even on my grumble days, I need to give thanks for being able to grumble.

Okay, I'm down from my little pulpit, and I'm going to wish y'all a beautiful day. Now I'm off to do some creating.

Hugs, Edna B.

New Stuff Coming.

March 23, 2009

Tootsie had two chemo treatments today, and has two more tomorrow. And then she's all set for another six weeks. She has more gumption than me - I'd have tired of this regime years ago. It's been quite cool these past couple of days, so we had to dig out her jackets again. Today she wore her yellow corduroy jacket which has a hood and yellow fur around the face opening. The jacket is lined with a light yellow floral silk. Man, is she ever adorable in it.

Spent some quality time chatting with Snowy last night online, while I was at work. My little lady was happily watching TV so I was able to spend time on the laptop. We covered a really huge range of topics. It was a very interesting evening.

I will have another mini kit for you this week. You've been so patient, waiting for me to back into my routine. I'm still trying to find some of my older files that I know were saved. It just takes a bit of poking and prodding. In the meanwhile, I'm also finding programs missing that never got transferred to the new pc. Some don't matter, but some do make life much easier. Like my scan program, printfolder, win zip, etc. I have managed to get a couple of them back, and am still working on the rest.

I've also been busy working on the daily download kits for Magickal Scraps. We have a fantastic team there. Together we have finished April and May, and have half of June and July finished. Getting ahead a bit like this makes it easier for us to work on other things. Wait till you see some of the wonderful stuff coming your way in these daily download kits. I can't give you any hints, but they are worth the waiting.

Ahhhh, I've been stalling with this post, waiting for some photos from the competition. And they have finally arrived. Tonight I will share the one of Audrey and her doe. Tomorrow I'll have another nice one to share. In the meantime, y'all have a great night. Tootsie and I are off to get comfy and warm in our bed.

Hugs, Edna B.

Ribbons, Ribbons

March 22, 2009

Lordy lordy, I received a call last night from a very excited daughter #1. She was just bursting to share her good news from the taxidermy competition. She entered her very first doe in the amateur division, and took a third place ribbon. Hubby Mac entered his first duck in the professional division, and he too, took a third place ribbon. CONGRATULATIONS MAC AND AUDREY. As soon as she sends me pictures, I will share them with you.

Last night, I wrote my very first tutorial - "Tutorial # 001, How To Make A Quick Page In Photoshop." This morning, I learned how to do the print screen thingy to put pictures on the tutorial. Now all I have to do is learn how to crop the pages to make them small enough to put on the web and still be big enough to read.

I tried making the page in Photoshop, but the damn program kept underlining my typing, so I finally tossed it all out. Disgusted!! I tried everything to get rid of the lines, but no cigar. It really frustrates me when I try to do something, and I can only get so close and no more. Time to put in a call for help to Snow Raven.

Guess what??? I did it! On my own! I had to make a few changes, then get creative a bit, but I finally ended up with my very own tutorial. Y-e-a-h!

Now for that lovely award I received from Kyra @ http://smiekeltje.blogspot.com/. Thank you so much my friend. I enjoy this lovely lady's blog every morning, first thing.

The rules for this award are fairly simple. 1 - Pass it on to 10 other deserving bloggers. 2 - Link back to the blogger who gave you the award. 3 - Link to the bloggers you passed it on to, and leave them a message on their blog.

My nominees are:

These terrific ladies all have wonderful and very interesting blogs. Grab a cup of coffee or your favorite beverage and visit them. You'll have a wonderful time.

Want to see my tutorial? Hmmm? Okay, you twisted my arm. I have things to do before getting ready for work and I want to play with my little girl for a bit too. So, y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Spring Flowers Popping Up

March 21, 2009

Wow! Ten more days till April. My flowers are already coming up in my little garden. What a beautiful sight for sore eyes! Irises, tulips and a couple of jonquils I think. It's been so long that I forget.

Last night I got quite busy on a chat with Snow Raven and doing my scrap shopping in between that I plum forgot to get to my blog post until it was well after midnight. Shame on me! But you have to admit it is fun to shop for goodies, especially when you find a bunch of them. Now if only I could find enough time to do them all justice. Hm-m-m-m-m.

Daughter #1 (the rummage sale baby) is off to her taxidermy convention this weekend. God bless her little soul, she actually stuffed her first doe and is entering it into competition there. Her hubby will be entering his first duckie, too. Good thing I love these two, I don't really dig the stuffing part. BUT -- they seem to do what they do very well indeed. So that's good. Good luck kids on your competition.

Tootsie darling is back to peeing on all my scatter rugs again. Nerves, ticked off with me, who knows why she does it, but every now and then she starts up again. I have a big pile of scatter rugs just for this reason. She pees, I pick up and throw in wash and put down another rug. Then I just keep an eye to see which one she will use next. Her chemo appointments start again Monday and Tuesday. Maybe that's part of it. Who knows.

I just wag my finger and give her the "bad doggie" routine. Life is too short to get upset about scatter rugs and a little pee. Cheaper to buy extra scatter rugs. I also received another beautiful award from my good friend Kyra. I need to do some "nominating" homework, but I promised to share this with you tomorrow.

I'm off now to do more laundry. Rugs, etc. I have a lovely photo to share with you today. Audrey sent me a couple of photos of her doe. I was going to post the one with her (daughter's) tongue sticking out, but I'll be nice and post the happy one. Enjoy the pic and y'all have a fantastic day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Woo Hoo! A New Stove!

March 19, 2009

Woo hoo! Today we got our new stove. This should quiet some of the dwarfs'' grumbling. For a little while anyway. Then they will find something else to grump about. Men!! At least now we will be able to cook our corned beef and cabbage dinners.

This afternoon I took a break from PC work, and dug out the slide shows that I made a few years ago. Photos that I had taken, family wedding, children growing up, puppies. Oh my, what a grand time I had for myself. It's nice sometimes, to wallow in memories.

One of these days, I will have to put together some more slide shows, maybe one with my layouts. It'll probably take more than one for my layouts. Mostly, I like putting together the nature photos. Then I pick out some nice music to play in the background.

I did play a bit on the computer this morning, and finished up a layout for the "J" challenge. I used a frame supplied by Hummie, sprinkled in some of Granny's florals, a speck of Dover, and Voila!! A pretty background for a very pretty miss.

I think I only have three or four challenges left to finish up for the month. Plus I do the technique challenge at GDS. It's run by Helen Ohrenhofer, and it's a fun learning experience.

That's it for today. Tootsie and I will spend some time playing before supper, and tonight will be an early one. Work comes awful early in the morning. It's very difficult to fall asleep on Thursday nights. My body knows it has to be up very early, and it rebels. Must be from all those years of working nights. Oh well, we'll give it a good try anyway. Y'all have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Lazy Days & A Spring Sale

March 18, 2009

Well, another day playing on the PC, and I don't think I made any headway on the projects I wanted to finish. Mostly, I was playing with actions and trying to make my own patterns. I did make some progress in this area, but little else.

On the bright side, I did get some laundry done - that's good because now I have clean clothes for work on Friday. Washed all the scatter rugs too. Now that I think of it, I guess I did accomplish some things today.

Hear ye, hear ye! Do you love a sale? Well head on over to Magickal Scraps. http://www.magickalscraps.com/. Snow Raven is giving you 33% off to celebrate the Spring Equinox. It won't last forever, so hurry on over while the gittin' is good. There are some fantastic kits awaiting you. While you're there, check out the other designers' wonderful creations.

Moo came in today with some bad news. It seems another animal somehow found it's way into our roof, and ate a hole in it and started tossing out all sorts of stuff - insulation, wood, etc. It ate the shingles too! We put in a call to the roofing man, and then Moo climbed the ladder to clean the mess up a bit, and cover the hole because we have some rain coming. So what else is going to happen??

Tonight, I watched "Top Model," so now it's Tootsie's playtime. She waits patiently for me to whatever I'm doing. You gotta love her. I re-tape her ball every 5 or 6 days. That's about as long as the tape holds up. If only she would take a liking to a new ball. What can I say? My little girl is as unique as her mommy. Y'all have a wonderful night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Happy St Patrick's Day

March 17, 2009

Hope you're all wearing your green today, it's St Patty's Day. Not that we're going to have the big dinner here - we don't have a stove yet. Our kitchen stove bit the big one a few days ago, so we've been doing our best to live on microwave cooking and sandwiches. I'm not complaining, because I can do that for quite some time. The dwarfs, on the other hand, have done quite a bit of complaining. Too bad Harry!!!!

I did order a new stove, and it should be here in a couple of days. I also got a 5 year warranty for parts and labor for just in case. I did not buy an extended warranty with the last stove, and it did not last two years. My bad. Dwarfs are hard on appliances.

I'm supposed to be finishing up my challenges, and getting new kits designed. Instead, I've been flitting from one thing to another and accomplishing not much of anything. I will take a break here to go and see what I have to share today. Be back soon.......

I'm back now, and I think I will share one of the layouts that I made for the Chat challenge. We were to use a plain background, and one of our own floral photos - blend them together along with other elements, keeping a Victorian theme in mind. Sort of a collage of sorts, although mine is too much like a collage. I will also post my original photo that I used to make the background. Hope you like it.

Now I'm off again, need to spend some serious play time on my PC. Also, Tootsie wants some time to play ball. She's being so very patient with me. Gosh, I love this little girl. I am so lucky that she was sent my way. Y'all have a wonderful evening now.

Hugs, Edna B

An Enjoyable Afternoon

March 16, 2009

Well we are smack dab in the middle of March, and I hope Spring comes a knockin' for good this week. I'm really ready for her. Time to start plants and clean out the garden, even if I only have a little garden. I have some really pretty flowers in it, and soon I will have my tomatoes too. This year I would like to try planting the tomatoes hanging upside down. It's supposed to be better for them, and you're supposed to get better yield. We'll see.

This afternoon, I had the most enchanting chat with Snow Raven. We discussed most everything under the sun, and had an enjoyable time with it. We even got to discussing our ancestors and learned that both families traced back to royalty. Wow! Not bad for this little gal here.

Some scrapping learning even took place. I ask a lot of questions, and I get a lot of answers. That's how I learn some things. So I had some things that I needed more information on so that I could do a better job with one of my programs, and Snowy had the answers that I needed. She is a very smart lady, and nice too!!!

Tonight, I will attempt once again to gather up most of my resources and input them to this new program that I got. It's called "Preset Viewer" and I can't wait to play with it. Instead of spending hours opening zips of presets and putting them into Photoshop so that I can see what they look like, this program will just display each and every one of them so that I can actually see what I want to use and not use. If you want the program, go to http://www.tumasoft.com/ It cost $37.00.

Today, I will post the link for the promised mini Kit. I made this one a couple of months ago as a bonus for a challenge. It's called "In The Wild." Hope you like it and can use it. Y'all have a wonderful night.

Hugs, Edna B.

One Ringy Dingy, Two Ringy Dingies

March 15, 2009

It's late again tonight, but I got a bit busy, and then lost my cable and internet (phone too) for 2 or 3 hours. My oh my, that sure does make life difficult. I remember when we had no cable, no internet and pc's, and a big black phone that was linked to three other parties.

They were called party lines, and each party had their own particular ring. One, two, three or four rings. You listened to the rings and then picked up the phone. Unless of course, you wanted to chat with whoever was talking on the phone. In that case, you just picked up the receiver and joined in the conversation. Imagine the new laws that would be passed if we still had that system?

I have some good news for you. Tomorrow, I will post a new freebie mini kit for you. You've been awfully good putting with my nonsense, so I think you deserve a kit. I'll save the preview for tomorrow's post.

Tonight, I'll share a layout that I made for the quote challenge at Magickal Scrap's forum. I took the photo outside my door in Florida last week. Enjoy, and y'all have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Daughter Is Up To Stuffing Again

March 14, 2009

Last night was the forum chat, and let me tell you - what a chat! We had so much fun and laughter, and yet we learned a bit about our scrapping and programs as well. Now all I have to do is get my chat project finished ad uploaded. I started it but I'm not happy with it so I will re-do the whole thing. I'm just picky about what I put out there for the whole world to see.

For my friend, Lady Shannon, I can't put my blinkie up because I need the html for it. Then I will put it for everyone to see how nice it is. I tried downloading, but only the background came over. If you still have the html, could you email it? Thank you so much.

I'm late posting tonight, because I got busy earlier and plum forgot to stop long enough to post here. My bad! Before work tonight, I was talking to my rummage sale baby and you'll never guess what she was doing. Good Lord, she was up to her elbows - literally - in guts and goo. Or whatever that stuff is - she's stuffing a doe. She said she was working on her doe. I thought she said she was working on her dough - you know, like baking bread and was about to ask her what kind of bread she was making. DUH!!!!! Mommies can be so dense some times!!

Tonight, I'll share one of the layouts that I made for the Journaling challenge at Magickal Scraps. I took the photo just as night was coming on, and thought the color was so pretty. I hope you enjoy it. Well, I have to get back to my work, so y'all have a great night.

Hugs, Edna B.

Awards & A Photo Layout To Share

March 13, 2009

Tonight's the night for our monthly chat at the Magickal Scraps forum. Approximately two hours of fun and girlie stuff. It's not too late to join up and join in. http://www.magickalscraps.com/.

First on today's agenda, I want to share my new awards with you. The first one was given to me by Lori Ruth @ http://bateau-maisoncreation.blogspot.com/. Thank you so much Lori Ruth, this one makes me feel very special.

I will pass it along to some very talented ladies.

Deb @ thescrappincop.blogspot.com
There are other deserving recipients, but they already have this award.

My other new award, the Premio Dardos Award was given to me by my friend, Lady Shannon @ http://ladyshannonmemoriesmadeeasy.blogspot.com/. Thank you so much; it makes me proud to post my blog every day (almost every day) knowing that it is appreciated and enjoyed. This award acknowledges the values that every blogger shows in their effort to transmit cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values every day.

This one is to be passed on to as many as 15 other bloggers, but after doing my homework, I've decided on three bloggers to pass it on to. All the other blogs that I would have nominated already have it.

The rules for both awards ar basically the same. You must name the person that granted you the award and link back to their blog, nominate other bloggers that you feel are deserving of the award, and notify each of them by leaving a messge on their blog.

Last night, I visited another forum that I belong to - The Little Photoshop @ http://www.thelittlephotoshop.co.uk - to check out their current challenges. What a nice surprise to find that the monthly challenge is to photograph something/ someone that show communication. I don't usually contribute to the challenges here because the talent level is so far ahead of me. But this time, I just had to join in the fun. So this afternoon, I will share with you my contribution to the "Communictions" challenge. I hope you like it. I took the photo through a window with a zoom lens. Nature is my favorite subject to photograph.

Now I'm off to get ready for tonight's chat and project. Oh yes, we also get a new project to make for each chat. Snow Raven tells us the chosen subject and/or theme, and gives us some goodies to use. Y'all have a great afternoon.

Hugs, Edna B.

Have You Seen March 11th?

March 12, 2009

I'm not sure how it happened, but I seem to have lost March 11th. Yoo hoo - where are you?? This is not funny - I wake up, I do some stuff, next thing I know it's two days later. All I had to drink today was spring water and coffee. Maybe I should try some new brands?

While I was incapacitated, I did receive some beautiful awards. Give me a couple of days to digest this and think of who I can pass them on to, and I will post them here. My mind is working hard at getting back into work mode.

While I was in Florida, I learned how very important the internet has become to our daily lives. At least, mine! First thing in the morning, it's time to check your emails - Wrong! Can't do that, so we'll just check out the forum and see what's happening - Wrong! Can't do that either, so let's just go look in on some of our friend's blogs - Wrong! Drats! All you can do is sit and make layouts for challenges. And then at least, you can upload them - Wrong! Maybe I'll just chat on my blog about my wonderful flight from Boston to Orlando - Wrong!

It's really exasperating. I never realized how important the internet has become to me. It is my link to family and friends all over the world. It is my daily inspiration to keep on enjoying my wonderful new hobbies. And some days, it is my sanity. And I'm not the only person who is so beholden to the internet. There were other people using the same dumpster internet cafe that I used.

Before I left for home, I also found - and used - the McDonalds internet connection. You buy anything - a coke, sandwich, etc - and you get a coupon good for one hour of internet connection. I think this is fantastic!! You need more time? Just buy a 99 cent drink or other food item, and you get another coupon good for another hour. So remember this if any of you travel, and don't have an internet connection where you will be staying. Just look for a McDonalds and you might get lucky.

That's it from me today, but before I go, I'll share a layout I made for the Shutterbug Challenge at the Magickal Scraps forum. We were supposed to see how far away we could shoot with the zoom. While my laundry was washing and drying, I was watching a bumblebee going back and forth between two palm trees looking for his lunch, I think. I was on the ground and he was way up at the top of the trees, but my photo came out fairly decent. Enjoy, and y'all have a wonderful day.

Hate To Leave My Dumpster - But.....

March 9, 2009

Tomorrow, I go home and leave my friendly dumpster cafe behind. I think I'm actually going to miss it. At least it is quite unique.

My vacation has turned out to be quiet and healing. My cold is pretty much all gone, and I've gotten tons and tons of rest. But isn't that what a vacation is for? The only thing I regret is not being able to have Tootsie here with me, but I didn't want to chance it because of the change in her medications. Maybe next year. I did buy her a little Tigger toy. She loves stuffed toys.

So far this week, I have managed to finish quite a few of the challenges at the forum which I share with you each day once I get home. Today I can share a layout I made for Tootsie.

I'm off now, back to my condo to watch some TV and pack for tomorrow. Y'all have a great day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Dumpster Dolly Here

March 5. 2009

Well here I am in my favorite spot at Dumpster Hi Fi Cafe. It's just down around the back of the building in a corner near a fence. Alas, there is no coffee, and no electricity. But it's free. So I guess that makes it a bargain.

It's a little buggy on the grass, so I will stay in my car to post today. Later on I will mosey on down to the local McDonald's to see if they really do have a wi-fi service. If so, I will water log my self with cokes, etc and play to my little heart's content.

My friends have just gone home, so it's sort of lonely here. It's times like this when I miss my Michael the most. Lots of time to have some fun and no one to have it with. There is a little green lizard on my sun porch, so I think I will make friends with it so I will have someone to chat with. Have you never talked with a lizard? No? You should try it sometime. They don't repeat anything you say, and they don't argue with you.

I think I want to look around to see if there is anything pretty to photograph. Not that I will go very far, I dont like walking around by myself. Today I will share my layout that I made for the "K" challenge on the forum at Magickal Scraps, then I will take my leave. Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B.

Feel Like A Cave Lady

March 3, 2009

This will be short. I am sitting by some dumpsters so that I can latch on to a ray of internet life. It's like being held hostage -- what? no internet? Well, I'll be!! After what I went through just to get here, only to find that I lugged all this gear and there is no internet hookup here. Maybe in another month or so, but not now!!

Just want you to know that I have not forgotten you. I see that I received another beautiful award and as soon as I get back home, I will thank you properly and post the award.

I need to go back to my condo here and re-charge up my battery -- there doesn't seem to be any electrical outlet here by the dumpsters. Isn't that odd? You would think that if this is where we have to sit to play on our laptops, they would give us an outlet. Oh well.

I may even recover from this nasty cold too. I think it's beginning to get better. At least I'm able to get out to sit here by the dumpster and get email and correspond with my friends.

I will cut this short - don't want to press my luck. Y'all have a wonderful day.

Hugs, Edna B

p.s. even got a few photos to share when I can.
